We want to go to Kona Cafe on our next vacation. Both menus look very good. Any opinions on whether breakfast or dinner is better?

Wow, they are really different meals. I don't think you can compare breakfast to dinner. We really enjoyed our dinner there last week, but I have no doubt that their breakfast would be very good too.

Have only ever eaten dinner there, but it may have been our favorite resort meal ever.

My wife had the filet, and I had some vegetarian rice dish, but it was great.

The drinks and desserts are really good too!

I will be trying breakfast for the Tonga Toast next week. We ate dinner here in 2004 and it was pretty good, but I need to try the Tonga Toast that everyone raves about.

I've only had dinner at the Kona Cafe, but in my opinion it was one of the best dinners we had at the world. The food is fantastic.

Good luck, I'd do the Dinner because I'm not a big breakfast eater. Eating a big breakfast at the WDW just makes me sluggish for the parks. I'd rather eat my calories for dinner.

Good Luck

Same here--only had dinner, but it was the best dinner experience we had on our last trip.

Why not do both?

We love breakfast at the Kona Cafe. In fact, it's a must stop each trip. Dinner is very good, but for some reason, I don't think the atmosphere matches the price. Perhaps I'm going to back to the days when it was the Coral Isle Cafe. I can't get the coffee shop thoughts out of my head. Enjoy!

Breakfast at the Knoa Cafe is our last-day tradition. It's the best breakfast on property, IMHO. We've only eaten dinner there once. It was a nice meal, but their breakfast is what we really rave about. Enjoy :)

It really is worth it! For breakfast, don't waste your time with Tonga Toast - go right for the Ham and Cheese Omelet, only substitute the shrimp for ham - you'll be in HEAVEN! I guess you can try the Tonga Toast if you really want to ;) !

For dinner, I get the mahi mahi - oh so delicious! Plus, you can get a backscratcher (yummy rummy drink). You won't be disappointed with either meal really.

I like the laid back non-formal atmosphere - when we first went I thought it was like eating in the lobby, kind of food court-esque, but I love the people watching as they pass by to get on the monorail...

This IS my favorite restaurant on property.

Not that this is going to help since it seems cut down the middle but I have only been for breakfast and It was my 2nd favorite breakfast (close behind Crystal Palace). They have the most wonderful coffee and juice! There food is very good as was the service.

I vote for both. Seriously. They have absolutely yummy food there...The Mahi-Mahi at dinner is to die for.

Had both - they are comparing apples to oranges.

I will say that we were underwhelmed with breakfast. The Tonga Toast was disgusting and the rest of it was pretty basic breakfast food that can be found anywhere or easily made at home. Dinner was our best meal of the week - far exceeding Jiko and LeCellier in quality - and we enjoyed everything offered. It was great!

If you can do both I would. To me, dinner menu is more unique then breakfast but breakfast wasn't bad. Just unmemorable.

Both are good, mahi mahi for dinner OUTSTANDING.

I am glad this question was posted as i am trying to decide the same thing. I love the sound of the offerings at breakfast except, like another poster said, these items can be found anywhere. The only item on the menu that sounds wonderful is that pressed pot of Kona coffee. Is there anywhere else at The Poly that I can get a cup of Kona coffee? If so I can probably skip the breakfast.

As we have stayed at the Poly, DH and I have eaten both breakfast and dinner at the Kona Cafe. But it really is comparing apples and oranges. First, are you using it for the DDP? Then, the better VALUE is dinner. But if not, what are your plans? Big breakfast and then off to MK? MK and then out for dinner? (or whatever park -- but MK is so close).

OK - but that is not what you asked for! I love both breakfast and dinner. Kona Cafe is hands down our fav place to eat. We have eaten there three times for dinner and even brought picky family there for dinner. They gave it a :thumbsup2 !

At breakfast, I loved the Tonga Toast - totally sweet and yummy. DH had a delicious omelet and we shared a fruit plate. I don't remember if there were potatoes or not with the omelet. Coffee, of course, at Kona Cafe is OUTSTANDING (no Nescafe blah stuff there!).

Dinner is fabulous. I've had all the appetizers and they are great. The chicken soup is so comforting! Always have gotten the filet and it is cooked to perfection (your perfection). I have tasted the mahi mahi and it was very good also. Desserts are to die for. Drinks are tropical, fruity and fun!

So either choice will be a winner. Just depends if you are in the mood for an excellent breakfast or an excellent dinner! :)

There is a little coffee kiosk - Kona Island Cafe Coffee Bar right outside of the entrance to the Kona Cafe. They have the same wonderful coffee as the restaurant.:)

Thank you!!!:coffee:

I also vote for both breakfast and dinner at the Kona Cafe -- not necessarily on the same day, but I did that once, and it was great! Lunch there is also wonderful. The Kona Cafe is on my must-dine list for every trip!
