I hope someone has answers for me about this. We are going to Disney this month, and have friends that are going as well for a few days the week before us. We have figured that we will all save money if we buy an 8 day hopper ticket and share it. They would use 2 days, and us 6. We realize that the tickets need to be used within 14 days of the first day used, however, I am not finding any information as to it being a problem to share the ticket. Has anyone tried to do this or know anything about this??

The tickets are scanned with your fingerprint on your first visit, and on subsequent visits your fingerprint has to match your ticket. This is why they are non-transferable.

I've heard they don't scan childrens fingers though. But I'm not sure if that would work either.

It's a problem... Tickets are not transferrable. When you use the ticket the first time you put your hands on the "bio scan" machine. After that, the scan must match which of course your's wouldn't.

Hi Poobear! And welcome to the DIS! :wave2:

Unfortunately, you cannot do what you suggest. For the last year, all tickets are tied to the first person who used them through biometric scanning. You may have seen this done before when you are going through the turnstyles and someone put their pointer and middle finger in a device when they used their pass.
Everyone with multi-day tickets now must do this.

I am sorry, but I know that you will have a great time none-the-less! :)

Hi- My 4 year old had to do the finger scaning last June making the ticket just good for him. Disney said that all ticket holders are now required to do the scan.

I work at Epcot's Front Gate at turnstiles. The biometric scan is only keyed to tickets for people 10 and older. If you put a child's ticket into the slot the green admit light will immediately come on and the yellow lights for the biometrics will not.

I have heard that some ticket brokers run out of children's tickets and will sell an adult ticket at the children's price

It's not allowed. Each ticket is good for one person only and the biometric scan will tie the ticket to whoever uses it first.

While there may be some way around it, if you get caught, I've heard that you'll be taken out of the park and have the ticket confiscated. The peace of mind alone may be worth buying everyone their own tickets. If you plan on ever going back, it'd be worth looking into the non-expiration option to see if the cost is worth it - perhaps it's be worth it for everyone to buy the 10-day non-expiring tickets if you can use the extra days on a future trip.

Thanks for all of your replies. We didn't want to risk anything, and have tickets for everyone! We leave this Friday!!!! Can't wait!

Have a WONDERFUL time! Is there anything else we can help you with in these last few days of planning?

I just wanted to point out that it's a scan of the fingers, but not the fingerprints.

Hope you have a great trip!

yes, actually....I have heard that there is a great restaurant to sit and watch the light show at Epcot from, but we need reservations. Does anyone have a reccomendation??

That's correct - it measures the width of the finders and the distances between them. It does not scan the fingerprints.
