We are looking at getting a new oven, dishwasher and countertop. We're not going to get new cabinets, because our cabinets are relatively new...not installed by us, but by the previous owners. We like them...they are a golden oak color.
Originally we were going to get a regular oven. Now DH is thinking about double ovens mounted to the wall, with an island in the middle of the room for a gas cooktop. The double oven cabinet would be in the midle of a bank of cabinets.
Our problem is the cabinets. If we do the double oven mounted to the wall, we are going to have to put some sort of cabinetry around it, and there is no way we would be able to match our cabinets exactly, I am quite sure. Same thing with the island. If we put one in, I doubt we'd be able to exactly match the cabinets.
So what do we do???
My thought is to do something completely different, like painted cabinetry, maybe in a sage or forest green color, for the double oven and island cabinetry. I think that color scheme would look good with our oak cabinets, having 2 of the same color cabinetry would sort of "pull" the look together. Stainless steel appliances, and maybe some sort of countertop with a greenish and tannish coloring to it (whether it be speckling, like a Corian, or marble or granite with those shadings) to sort of blend all the colors together.
So, any thoughts, suggestions, websites that show different types of cabinetry with a wood and painted combo look?
Thanks DISers!!!!!
