Kim's new and improved life journal!

Woo hoo! A "Treadmil Kim!" That is so great and very impressive that you were able to turn your thinking around. It sounds like all my cheerleading came a little late....:cheer2:

Take care and have a GREAT Friday!

Nope, Just the opposite. Your cheerleading got me to DO it!!

Marie - GET GOING!!!!! Do it now while you're unemployed!!:cheer2: (that's the best I can come up with)

Quick post - I run/walked yesterday around 8:30am. When I took the first step out the door and couldn't breathe already, I told myself I was only doing 2 miles. No need to push too hard in that kind of weather. I was able to run the first mile (I think too fast....I saw 9 something mpm and 8 something mpm on the Garmin) and then walked for a bit then ran again until the dizzies hit and then walked a little more then ran to finish 2.5 miles in 31 minutes. Not a quick time at all, but at least I didn't pass out! :thumbsup2 And I got the miles in, so that's what's important. :goodvibes

Have a great rest of the weekend!

I give you credit for getting out there in the weather we had this weekend! i was outside at a softball tournament and it was absolutely miserable! way to go buddy, im proud of you! be careful when its that nasty out, i dont want you getting hurt!

The weather has definitely been brutal this past week. It really does make running more of a challenge. Good job getting out there :thumbsup2. I think that sometimes it takes a while, and a bunch of runs in the heat, for your body to adjust to the warmer temps. I think that I'm finally starting to get used to this weather we've been having...of course before long it will be cool again...go figure ;).

But as for running now, it really makes sense to get out there early before the heat of the day (which you normally do)....the humidity may be high but at least the temps aren't in the 90's :scared: . Drinking plenty of water the day before a run and a whole lot more during the day after the run can really help recovery from the heat.

Good luck with the week ahead!

Any chance that you are watching Big Brother this season??

I know you watched last year :). Wondering if you are watching the train wreck this summer . popcorn::

Hi Kim!

Nice work getting out there despite the heat! We should all get jobs at the post office...they are the only other ones who get it done thru rain, snow, heat, sleet, hail, natural disaster, etc. :goodvibes Like you said, you got the miles in and that's awesome!

Did someone mention Big Brother?? :cool1: What a great season it is!! So many trainwrecks in one place makes great reality television :) Eric has been outed, Dick is still a...well you know, Danielle is a GAMER, Jen is still annoying but is getting blasted unfairly imo, Amber is a total and complete emotional nightmare (isn't there a drinking game associated with the crying??)...oh I could go on...what a great season!!

Now back to the regularly scheduled postings....

Have a good day!

YES!!!! I'm watching!!

One question - what happens if Eric throws in the towel & tells the other houseguests that he's America's player? Will he get the boot from BB (by the producers)? Isn't he making money on every certain number of challenges he completes? That is perplexing to me. The poor guy can't play the game the way he wants. And he's gonna get kicked out anyway if he keeps playing it this way (in my opinion).

Anyway...YES YES YES, we're watching. Amber cracks us up.

Oh, and thanks for the encouragement and support guys!

Hey girlie! How's the hoopdie runnin'? Are ya still enjoying it?

When ya headin' south....I only have about a week of pool time left before school and the new job starts. :sunny:

Ok....I need some help...I might post over on Scotts journal or Amybeths....I need they're workout programs!
HELP!!!

helloooo Kim--
Hope you are enjoying your night--how was shopping?
I am just "making my rounds" since i probably wont get back to journals til Tuesday night after I get home. Ill be at the hospital all day tomorrow then im leaving early Friday morning.
Ill have my cell on me so call me if anything exciting happens---or if you just miss me horribly ;)

Hey all!

DH and I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert last night - it was GREAT! :cool1: 7th row!! It's so awesome to see them up close like that!

I ran on the treadmill at work today. Went 2.5 miles in 27 minutes. :thumbsup2 Tomorrow's plan is to do weights in the gym and then I'll either run again on Friday or wait til Saturday morning.

Bad news - I had to reschedule my surgical consult until the end of September. :guilty: With just starting the new job, I started at zero sick leave hours. I've already had to take off a couple hours for dr. appointments for the kids, and Monday the kids were sick. I had to take off 1/2 day (MIL came over and let me go to work in the afternoon) so now I'm actually in the negative with sick time. Well, my consult was supposed to be today, so I had to put it off, and their next appointment was the end of Sept. I'll make it through....just a PIA. :rolleyes1

Marie - you need a challenge?? This time of year is hard to walk or run outside, especially in the south (I'd imagine). What kind of workout equipment do you have at your fitness center? We'll come up with a plan for ya.

I'm loooooooooooooooooooooooooovin my car!!! :drive:

Big Brother - ***??? :confused3 I really don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow night....we'll see!! :3dglasses

Let's see...there a treadmill, and excersize bike, a stairclimber/elipticle thing (has the arms that move with the legs like a skier, but more of a climber...heck, i don't know what it is!) There is a couple of arm weight machines...one that is like a rowing machine...you push the weights away from you...works your shoulders & chest, another arm machine - lat pulldowns and there a leg flexor machine.....as well as a bunch of free weights.

I've been getting up at 5-5:30 to walk the dog...we usually go a mile...maybe a little more. I just haven't logged it because it's usually not a very good pace. He stops every 5 seconds to pee!

Ok...I've got to get movin' again...it was just easier when DH was with me. :rolleyes1 :sad2:

Hi Kim,

I'm new, and I was just cheking out some journals. I have to say that you are doing an amazing job with your running. I know that you said you are very stressed with work, but getting the miles in this month despite that is awesome. Thanks for inspiring me. I saw the DM concert too. It was a great time.

Keep up the great work.
Beth

Welcome, Beth!! Thanks for stopping by and feel free to come on over anytime! :goodvibes Where did you see DMB? :confused3 Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it!

Marie - I'm gonna see what I can come up with for you. Looks like you have a LOT of equipment at your disposal!!:thumbsup2

I had hoped to get a run in today, possibly even outside at lunch since it was overcast and a little drizzly.....but freakin work got in the way. I just had WAY too much to get done and not enough time. I will absolutely positutely be heading out in the AM for a run, my friends. I've been missing it!

awwwwwwwwwwwww yeah! :woohoo:

Hey Kim,

Sounds like you're doing great with exercise.... I know you weren't able to get your run in today, but I bet you'll be out there tomorrow.:thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a great weekend!

Hey Tracy! Thanks so much for stopping by. I appreciate your continued support SO much!

Well, I did it. I got out there this morning around 8:30. It was stinkin BEAUTIFUL!! The temp was in the high 60's and the sun was shining. I decided I'd mix it up and just see how I felt out there while running a new course around the ol' neighborhood. About 1 mile into it, my Garmin battery petered out. :headache: So I had no idea of how long (time) I was running or how far. I did a big loop and figured it had to be longer than 3 miles. I came home and grabbed a beach towel and drove the route in my car (can't get the new car all stinky with sweat  ). Turns out it was exactly 4 miles and it took me right around 50 minutes. So not bad!! :woohoo: I took 2 short walk breaks, which I'd estimate at about 2 minutes each.

I made b-fast for the family and then went upstairs and did an On Demand 8 minute squat program and then hit the Beaner and did some arm weights. I swear I literally could have taken a nap in the shower I was SO tired!! :rotfl2: After I finally got some food in me, I felt much more energetic. :thumbsup2

Tonight we have a beef n' beer to go to for my old high school's basketball team (my neice is entering 9th grade and is on the team). Nothing going on tomorrow besides housework.:laundy:

Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!:yay:

Great job getting those 4 miles in this weekend. That's a nice solid long run and a big jump from your previous weeks! :thumbsup2 If you keep building the miles you won't need to worry about your pace b/c it will naturally get faster. That's the secret....run your comfortable pace....build up the miles gradually (keep the 10% rule in mind) and don't stress over pace. Cross training cardio seems to help too! Keep it up Kim...you've done really well over the past month :goodvibes .

Have a great week! I'll try to post before we leave for Mickey Land ;). Cannot wait to see what happens on BB8 this week...gonna' be in withdrawal during vacation  .
