Kim....I'm so sorry for the streak you are going through right now. Remember, I'm here for ya....24/7.....we all are!
You totally deserve a "poor me" day....hell....take a week if you need to!
You're family is in my prayers.

Hey guys. I didn't run today, instead I had a pity party and a "poor me" day. :sad2: Dad definitely has diverticulitis. Once this outburst has settled down with antibiotics, he'll be scheduled for surgery to remove the rest of his colon (he had most of it removed years ago). Sorry if this is TMI....just not an easy road ahead for him, unfortunately.

But a bad week has turned worse....my older sister is scheduled to see an oncologist in a couple weeks, to find out if she has uterine cancer. :sad1:

Not sure how much more I can take here, guys. I'm sitting here with a glass of wine to calm my nerves. Hopefully tomorrow I'll wake up with a clearer head and ready to get back out there on the trail....

Thanks so much you guys, for everything. Being able to vent to you guys is getting me through.

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's diverticulitis diagnosis and the upcoming surgery, and about your sister's appointment with the oncologist. I can't imagine how stressful and heartbreaking it must all be. You're being so strong and I know you're offering your family all your love & support. Please know that we're here to offer you ours.

 Kim,

Sending lots of prayers your way and for your family as well....I'm sorry for all that you have been going through. If you need anything, please let us know. We are here for you.:grouphug:

Can I just tell you guys how much I love ya? You really support me when I need it. I'm feeling nothing but love, and it's SO appreciated! :goodvibes

I went out and ran at lunch today. I'm still not my happy self, but I needed to get out there. My running buddy went last night, so it was just me. I went 29 minutes straight and it felt good. :thumbsup2

Lots going on this weekend. Tonight is DS's basketball banquet. Tomorrow is cleaning and a sleepover with 2 of DD's friends. Sunday afternoon is DD's 9th birthday party at the movies (seeing College Road Trip). Her actual birthday is Tuesday the 11th. It's so hard to believe that my little girl is turning 9. :sad1:

Thanks again you guys. You're truly the best!

 Kim,

I am so sorry to hear about all your family is going through. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so inspired by all the running you are doing. You have a ton on your plate, but you are focusing on your needs too. WTG, woman.

I am sending pixiedust: for your busy weekend.

Hi Kim

So sorry to hear about everything that is going on right now with your family. It's incredible to see you still out there running at lunch despite the tough mental time you must be going through.

Try to keep your chin up and remember we're here for you if you need anything :)

Hope your weekend is a good one :goodvibes:

Wow, talk about a busy weekend--although i knwo someone that wasnt invited to the party today --HMMM!!! ;)

Hang in there!!

sounds like you have a busy but fun weekend planned Kim!
Enjoy yourself :)

Hey guys. Whew, crazy weekend! Where do I start....:confused3

Dad is still in the hospital. He's not happy about that. He was told on Thursday that he'd probably go home on Friday. Friday morning came and his blood is still too thick (had been off of the blood thinners for a few days, and now it won't thin back out very quickly). He's still in need of your prayers, if you have them to spare. :guilty:

Em's party was a big success. :thumbsup2 Great time had by all, and the movie was AWESOME!! Definitely perfect for the 8 or 9 and up tween girl bracket. Tuesday night is one of her family parties (yes, we do them seperate) and Tuesday day, she'll have her party at school.

As for me, my mood has definitely improved. Staying busy helps. With Em's party today (and friends sleeping over last night) I was ready to scrap the run this weekend. But that guilt started creeping up this afternoon, and at 5:15 I went out for a run. :thumbsup2 I ran and ran and ran and felt really good, except one thing that I'll mention next. I ended up running the whole 3.2 mile loop in the 'hood in 36 minutes. :woohoo: Not bad for a re-beginner. :goodvibes

The only pain I had during my run was an inner ankle pain on both legs. It stopped as soon as I finished my run - and doesn't hurt when I walk. But it was quite noticeable when I ran. :headache: Any suggestions? :confused3

Back to work tomorrow. Have a great week!:thumbsup2

Hi Kim,

We will keep praying for your dad. :grouphug:

Sounds like Em had a great birthday party!:cool1: My DDs are begging us to see College Road Trip. Glad you liked it!:goodvibes

Great job getting out there and getting your run in, Kim! :cheer2:

Please keep us updated on how your dad is doing. Take care sweetie!

glad you had a great weekend Kim :)
Hope your dad gets out of hospital soon!
sorry cant help on the ankle pain thingy!!!

Dad's home! :woohoo: He still needs to go the doctor every morning to get his antibiotics through his pic line, but at least he's able to rest at home.

Thanks so much for your continued support and prayer everyone!

Hi Kim -

Awesome news about your dad! Also, way to hang in there while all of this is going on for you...I wish you and your family the best.

As for the running deal, check this out:

Posterior tibialis tendonitis – this tendon passes underneath the medial malleolus (the inside “ankle bone”) and attaches into the medial aspect of the foot (navicular bone). Runners usually experience pain below the inside of ankle or slightly further along the inside of the foot.

Might be something to look into?

The first thing I'd check is your shoes...they always seem to be the culprit for lower leg and foot pains.

Hope this is a good week for you!

hmmmmmmm. My shoes are new. I bought them right before my hip issues in the fall and hadn't even put them on my feet until I just started up a couple months ago. (and Lord knows I haven't run many miles  ) Would it be possible that that "type" of sneaker just doesn't do it for me anymore? Would something like that change over time? That type has worked for me for so long. hmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks for the info, Scott. :thumbsup2 I'm definitely gonna look into it.

I wouldn't think it would change so drastically over time...i'd think if they worked well for you in the past, then it may not be the shoes.

Have you increased more than 10% in a week? Maybe it's the treadmill running?

These things are so hard to pin down...try to take a close look at all of your workouts over the last few months and see if anything changed.

Did they change model numbers of the shoes? I know when my shoe went from the 2110 to the 2120, it was horriffic. A model number change could make a drastic difference.

Sorry...I'm kind of all over the place here but there is just a lot that could be causing it :)

I may be slightly over 10%. :rolleyes1 I'm just kind of going with what feels good right now. But I haven't been on a treadmill at all this 'round. I really think my body revolts after a TM run (hip, shins, etc). So I'm trying to avoid the TM like the plague. ;)

As far as I know, the model number didn't change.

I'm gonna chalk it up to going out of the gate a little too hard. Do you (or anyone) know if there are any stretches I can do for that particular area/tendon? :confused3 The only thing I can think would be ankle rotations or flex/point kind of things.

WISH me luck, I'm headed back out in a few minutes for a 30 minute run. :goodvibes

Hey Kim. Hope your run goes well. I'm think the flex/point and rotations might help with ankle.

Hope it's better today!

OK, so my baby girl is officially 9. :sad1: So sad. I offered her $100 if she'd just stop growing up. She said "I really want the $100, but don't know how to stop!" :goodvibes It was worth a shot. :confused3

Here's a pic of the pretzels she brought to school today...

My running buddy and I ran 30 minutes at lunch today. It was a rough breathing type of run but my ankle felt fine. :thumbsup2 Tonight my legs are pretty stiff, so I plan on doing another stretch before bed.

Hope you all had a great day.
