Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes

Ok....you guys have pulled me into this, too! I bought fabric a few days ago for some rompers for DS. He'll be 10 mo when we go to Disney. I have Star Wars fabric for a day at MGM, African animal print (zebras, elephants, cheetahs) for AK, and Mickey, Goofy, Donald with surfboards and Winnie the Pooh fabric for "whatever" days. Now I just have to get the outfits done by Sept.

Ummm....did I mention I haven't sewn anything in 3 or 4 years?!

15 hours until we leave for the airport and I am still sewing. I just finished her princess dress and a t-shirt dress. We have a princess birthday party to go to tonight so I am going to try to get her hair all done up and get a few pictures.

I got really cute and sparkly material for my AK shirt applique today. Kinda a black and white leopard print. I am just going to do one in the middle. I was telling the significant other about your DD's dress with 2 Mickey heads Briannasmom and being the smart aleck he is, he procedes to tell me if I do it that way I can name one Mickey and one Minnie (he was talking about body parts and not appliques) MEN! Cant live with 'em, Cant live with 'em. LOL

Here is the princess dress but I think I am going to have to hem it a few inches.

You can't see it in the picture but the skirt fabric is covered in sparkles. I picked the fabric up in the remnant bin at Joanns for $1.33. The top is leftover fabric from last years princess dress so this is pretty much the cheapest dress I have ever made.

I went to hancock yesterday and got my patterns and some Backyardigans fabric. (just to test it out Ds LOVES that show) I noticed they are having their McCall's patterns $.99 memorial weekend I might wait and take mine back and get a adjustment. That way I can get more patterns. I saw they have a bag pattern that looks similar to the baggalini bags.

I have to finish a knitting project before I can sew though. It is a pattern I am getting published and it is two weeks overdue.

Love all the new pics! This is my favorite thread. I looked on Yahoo Groups to see if there was a group similar and no luck.

No..... leave while you still can. This is madness I tell you. I have a huge walk in closet that my dh remodeled last year just to fit my fabric stash. The really bad part is that I have added to it this year and now the closet looks like it needs another overhaul.

Also I am now falling in love with the bottle cap necklaces and hair bows. Where do these people buy these? They don't actually MAKE the bottlecaps with the designs do they?

Not sure if this is what is used on the necklaces pictured, but in Walmart and the craft stores by me, they have the Disney bottlecaps for scrapbooking. I have them and that is what I thought was used, but I could be wrong. I think there are 4 or 6 in a package...I'd have to go look at mine.

If anyone's interested in a Minnie Mouse face for overalls, please send me a PM. I went through my sewing room and found about 5 Minnie faces that I used to use for overalls. I paid $20 for them (they came from Hong Kong. I am going to be listing them on Ebay for sale, but wanted to offer here first!

I just made my 3rd one today from Simplicity Lizzy McGuire pattern 5118. It's sizes 8-16. I make the 8 for my 7 yo and lengthen it a bit to cover her tummy better. If your daughter is smaller and younger, you could just adjust the elastic in the neckline. I hope I helped.

This is such a great thread! I am totally obsessed. I have only sewed one thing in my whole life and that was in home-ec in high school(and I never finished it), but you talented people have given me hope. Hope that I too can create wonderful clothes. or at least tell myself that. Thanks for all the ideas, hope I can do it, going to Hobby Lobby today. We are not going to Disney until September, so even if I mess up I'll have time to get someone to fix it
