Very cute!!!! I too couldn't figure out the armholes on the pillowcase dress! The binding is so much easier!

Hi everyone! I wanted to post a post trip on the crystal shoes I made for DD. Well our first day to the park DS stepped on DD's shoes, took off 4 crystals (this was on the bus ride to MK). Later in the day she lost more, not sure how since she spent most of her time in the stroller. I repaired the shoes the next day with extra crystals I had brought. The second day the same thing happened with crystals just coming off. I didn't have any more crystals to repair them though. I continued to let her wear the shoes and still got lots of comments on how cute her shoes were, and I plan on doing it again, I think maybe I put the bottom of the head to close to the tip of the shoe. :goodvibes jen

Jen--

When you adhere something to a shoe, you normally have to prep it first with a primer, otherwise whatever you're putting on it will fall off (almost as if you were painting the shoe)

I believe you can find any type of primer or stripper in a craft store.

Good luck!

I locked myself in my room for a little bit this weekend!!:goodvibes

disney 4 me- cute dresses! how did you do the tshirt dress? (castle creations & camping griswalds gave me some great directions, but im always curious to see how others do it- im sewing challenged!:rotfl: )

hope everyone had a nice mommy's day!

I am looking for someone to make some of the pillowcase type dresses for my 2 DD's. I have a 7 1/2 year old who wears 10/12 or maybe bigger by September and the baby will be about 14 months on our trip so probably around 12-18 months size.

I really want to get matching Minnie dresses (the ones that are red w/ polka dots and black ribbon) and possibly some others (thinking Pooh, Nemo, princess, etc. but not sure).

We are trying to save every penny for our trip and would love to trade whatever for dresses. I have 2 Disney Store giftcards for $10 each (never used), and a house full of stuff (a lot brand new and quite a bit Disney) that we just don't use or really need. Please PM if anyone is interested!! Thank you so much!!! Rebecca, Emily, & Avery princess:

I'm sewing challenged as well! My sewing skills are a robe in jr high that the teacher needed to help me with.

I measured around the bottom of the shirt and multiplied it by 2. I think the bottom was about 24 inches. Multiply by 2 gives me 48 inches. I didn't have quite 48 inches of material to go around, but it was close. No need to be exact.

I then took my material, hemmed the bottom, and then sewed up the side so I had a circle. I don't know if that's the correct order to do it, but it worked for me!

I pinned the side seam I had just stitched to one side of the shirt bottom so the seams would meet. I then measured the material around the circle to find the 1/2 way point and pinned it to the other side of the shirt bottom. So the material is pinned onto each side of the shirt where I’m going to sew. That sounds very confusing. If you don't understand, I'll try to explain it better.

After I had it pinned in two places, I found the center of the material again, and pinned it to the front. I did the same thing for the back. Confused even more?

Looking at the dress, the material is pinned to the shirt in four places, front, back, and both sides. I started at the pin at the seam of the skirt and sewed around, bunching the fabric up as I went. If you want to add more pins, you can. Or less. I’m not confident enough to only pin in two places. I was scared I’d either have too much fabric to bunch at the end or not enough. Then it would look uneven.

I’ve read where others have sewed a straight stitch and then pulled one thread to make the fabric bunch. That sounds too confusing to me. Sewing and bunching the fabric as I go works and is easy, so that’s what I do.

Also, when sewing, I made sure I sewed above the shirt hem so you couldn’t see it. Otherwise, you’d see the hem of the shirt and then the attached skirt below it.

Hope you understand. Maybe someone can explain it better. It really is simple.

Not exactly Disney, but here's something I put together for DD today for our Disney cruise. I'm going to do a similar set for Animal Kingdom w/ animal print ribbon and an animal print Mickey head. ::MickeyMo

I love the ribbons around the legs. Do you sew them on another horizontal ribbon so you have everything even and than sew it inside the legs?

I went to the Sears part section and it said sometimes there is a 3 digit number ahead of it. I put in "158" since a search seemed to come up with that number for a lot of Kenmore sewing machines. So 15815510 actually popped up a sewing machine. Unfortunately it doesn't show the user manual though, just parts that you order but maybe if you keep digging around you can see if that's the right machine and do more searches with the "158"

http://www3.sears.com/

Hope it helps some.

Edited to add: I found it, under "base assemblies" I did view parts and instruction book came up. You might want to do view diagram to see if it's actually the sewing machine you have. When I did search on instruction it didn't come up but when I did the "view list" it was at the bottom.

THANK YOU. If I told you what I did last night to find the bobbin you would crack up.

Lisa who hasn't sewed since 9th sewing class!!

No, but that's a really good idea! I actually cut all the little ribbon strips the same length (3" I think) and then fabric glued them individually to the inside. Then I looped them up and went back around and and glued them "shut". It was pretty easy to get them (somewhat) even since they were all the same length, and I just lined it up with the last one. Then when I sewed the rick rack on, I stiched over the ribbons, too.

I have ZERO sewing ability, so this was more "crafty" than a sewing job, but I thought it turned out cute. The fabric is from Walmart.

I think the ribbon shorts and shirt is adorable. I just got back from Joann, it was such a dumpy one though. We are on vacation and just hit a close by one. I wish I would have brought my machine, I almost packed it!

I have never made a pillow dress and probably couldn't! I can do overalls but all talent stops there.

I like your idea better LOLOL.. I was putting to much thought into it. Your way I can handle.

isnt it so funny how our talents vary? i am sooo not sewing-able, but i found pillowcase dresses very easy once i made the first one. and some of you think overalls are easy, while i wouldnt dare attempt them! i guess talent is a matter of opinion! and in my opinion theres alot to go around on this thread! keep the ideas and pics coming- never know when ill be brave enough to try something new!

Hello:
This is my first post. I love Disney. We just returned from our fifth two week visit. I'm so sad to be back but we couldn't have had a better time. I embroidered all of our outfits for each day in the park but now that I"ve found this site I have better ideas for next year.

Can anyone tell me if they know a site to purchase the big applique Mickey/Minnie's I've seen on outfits? I realize some of them are drawn freehand but they can't all be.

Thanks for any advice.

Michelle

That is so so true! I guess if I had a girl I might try it. I am sure I could finish it quicker then I can tear open the legs on overalls, which would be so nice.

I think a few posts back a lady had mentioned getting her Mickey heads from Hong Kong. Someone else mentioned using the front of a pillow and made me think I have some Buzz ones and Tink ones on ebay right now that I might give it a try with.

I just did Diego with a pillow panel of fabric bought at walmart. Not nearly as cute though.
