Michelle, Welcome to the DIS! We are all slightly obsessed with creative and fun kids clothes here on this thread. Good luck finding your Minnie and Mickey heads!

Jen--

When you adhere something to a shoe, you normally have to prep it first with a primer, otherwise whatever you're putting on it will fall off (almost as if you were painting the shoe)

I believe you can find any type of primer or stripper in a craft store.

Good luck!

I used superglue on the crystals. they were flatback swarovski, so they do have some dimension. The base of the crystal was left behind in most cases, just the crystal popped off. I didn't want to coat over the crystals and take away the sparkle. :goodvibes jen

Hi Jen!

I actually meant you have to prep the shoe first, not the crystals. I didn't mean to confuse anyone! :)

You should probably use a stripper or primer on the shoe first, especially if you're adhering the crystals to a leather shoe. I've found by doing this, it makes it much easier to stick.

Good luck!

Hi~ I understood what you ment :) I was just saying that I don't know if it would have made a difference since half of the crystal was still on the shoe (the backing). I will look for the stuff you are talking about though. Thanks :goodvibes

OOH!! Gotcha! :thumbsup2

I love them!!! Can someone point me back to the directions on how to make these? I know it is in this thread somewhere but this is a superlong one.

Thanks!!

Hello:
This is my first post. I love Disney. We just returned from our fifth two week visit. I'm so sad to be back but we couldn't have had a better time. I embroidered all of our outfits for each day in the park but now that I"ve found this site I have better ideas for next year.

Can anyone tell me if they know a site to purchase the big applique Mickey/Minnie's I've seen on outfits? I realize some of them are drawn freehand but they can't all be.

Thanks for any advice.

Michelle

:welcome: This is a very creative and inspiring crew! Welcome to the board! :flower3:

I used a combination of that post and these websites.

This one has a pattern for the armhole.

Thanks for the links! I can't wait to try this dress - my sil is great with sewing; I'm hoping she will do them.

If I were to order a pillowcase dress from ebay- how do they size them? Are they the same sizing as a regular sundress? I've always wanted to try one for my DD but was afraid they would run too big.

3disneybuggs- im not trying to be bossy (although dh swears its in my nature!:rotfl: ), but if you know anyone who can sew or even just has a machine- DONT BUY THEM- MAKE THEM YOURSELF!!! some of the asking prices on ebay are out of this world- thats where i first saw them and was going to order one. but then i began searching on the web and found some easy directions (someone posted them here) and had my cousin who sews walk me through it (im a learn by doing and very visual, so just reading how didnt help me). long story short, she helped me with the first and ive since made 2 more (under 1 hour each) and i have ZERO sewing machine ability! i just have a machine passed to me from MIL. again, not trying to be bossy, but i just wanted to warn you about paying way too much for something that can cost as little as $5 (depending upon price of fabric and ribbon). have a great day!

Ok, here is my first pillowcase dress. It if Giraffe print. DD LOVES it. She insisted on wearing it today. I made this last night and started a second one. BTW I HAND sewed this! Yep! That's right! I don't own a sewing machine. Which sucks, b/c I 'd love to do some more outfits.

Does it look like I did it right? I was thinking I may add a pink "Minnie" Head to it later!

It looks adorable! Perfect if you ask me! Your daughter is so pretty too.

Sears has machines for about $79 or walmart close to that too, they are very basic, but that is all you need to do any of this. Mainly a straight stitch and a zigzag will cover everything you have seen on this thread.

Your hand sewing skills are excellent though!

AKSunshine:one more question. Your pillowcase dress is a little different than the directions I have. I love the ribbon showing under the arm. Did you buy your directions or use one of the above mentioned?

aksunshine, your dresses are adorable! I love the pink and leopard. Your children are beautiful :).

what size and type of of ribbon worrk best with the ribbon shorts? Or does it not matter?
