Your dd is adorable, and love those outfits!
Just wondering if anyone know where I can find a pattern for a top like this..I would like to make a top like that for my dd, but all the patterns that I find only goes up to size 4! I need a size 5 or 6.

Here is my latest. Ireland was feeling well enough to pose. I took her splint off for the pictures...:sad2: Yes I know...bad mommy...she has to wear it for 4 weeks...:sad1:

I did the Cindy Loo Who braids on her with the wire in them to make them stand out. Now she wants to wear them to school like that...:scared1:

Im In LOVE With this dress:love:

I am thinking of doing something similar. I have already started a Christmas Skirt but its a strip one instead of patches.

Love the outfit! I wish I had your talent...Glad that your dd is feeling better!

Ok, I'm all caught up! Hooray! There have been some seriously cute outfits posted! It's always so fun for me to come on and see what everyone's come up with!

I'm seriously in awe of Lisa's and Camelot's stashes! Holy schneikes! I believe I would get lost in all that fabric!

And I am keeping Castle's little Ireland and mytwotinks and her friend in my thoughts and prayers.

I've finished a pair of decoupage jeans for DD and almost finished DS's Mickey shirt - it just needs buttons, but do you guys think I should use black buttons or white buttons? I can't decide.

The shirts are pretty much CASEd from you know where.

I gotta keep sewing - a little less than a month to go!

I know how you feel! I never know what to say in situations like this either. I do agree that just being there is what she wants and needs right now! You are a good friend to do this! I will keep you and this family in my prayers.

This is unbelievable! Do you have a loom in that basement where you make all of that fabric!:rotfl: :rotfl2:

You are SOMETHING!!! Whipping out these outfits like there is no tomorrow!! You go girl!!!!   (Go banana, go banana...)

:rotfl: There is no tomorrow!:rotfl2: We leave for Disney in two weeks and I have to finish all of their outfits, host a first birthday party, attend a baby shower, and prepare for Thanksgiving! And I will be shopping on Black Friday as well! Whew! I better get busy! I got a few pics of her so here you go:

Wow these are so cute! The kids are adorable and I love the outfits!

Lori, You have a good eye I love your fabric combinations and I vote for black buttons. The shirt for your DS is adorable.

Hi everyone, don't want to make you all sad, but I just can't stop thinking and crying. This morning when I dropped DS5 Luke off at school I found out that one of his little fellow pre-schoolers, a cute little girl named Ashley, has inoperable brain cancer. She turned 5 in October, 2 days before my DS. I guess they were approved by Make-a-Wish for a trip to Disneyworld on Oct. 26, and since her mom is pregnant and won't be able to travel in a few weeks, they actually got to go to Disneyworld on October 29th. I was feeling really bad and wishing I'd had a way of making her a custom outfit for her trip. Anyhow, here is my thought, but I'm not sure about it. We do not know her or her family. She has a different teacher than DS so he likely only knows her from the playground and singing time. I was thinking I could make her like a minnie dot skirt or something with a mickey (minnie) head t-shirt. I looked at her website at caringbridge.org and her parents talk a lot about their faith and how people need to understand they are expecting a miracle. Their website also states that on an October 3rd MRI her tumor had doubled in size. My thought was if I made her an after the fact outfit, I could include in a letter that I hoped it reminded her of a fun trip and I hoped she would wear it on a future Disney trip. I don't know. If you were her parents would that seem weird? I just can't stop thinking about her. She even looks like my kids. She has also recently been through chemo, so I don't even know where to begin estimating her size. Let me know what you think. Thanks

This is soooo sad!:sad1: I know myself I would appreciate your thoughtfulness and the gift, but I would try to ask the parents! I will be praying for her and her family!

Omg This has me crying. :sad2: :sad2: I feel so bad for this family. They are in my prayers. This reminds me of my neice. I have had 4 healthy children. Worse that has happen Thank God is son born with a cataract in one eye and other son had a febrile seizure. Well my neice is 18 and having a baby next month long story but baby has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephlis ( I am sure I spelled that wrong sorry). They will operate and soon as she is born via Csection. I feel horrible for her but I am willing to bet my sister ends up raising it. My neice I love her but shes immature. She doesnt even realize whats all happening. But I feel so bad for her and sister and the baby. But I live 4 hours away so I just mail her stuff and call alot.

Sorry That Was So Long,
Melanie

Thank you so much!!! The pattern I used is the peasant top by dainty designs from youcanmakethis.com. It goes from a size 12m-8y. I am going to make this same outfit for my dd4.

Thanks so much everyone! Black buttons it is!

jham, I'm so sorry to hear about that little girl. That just breaks my heart. You are so sweet to want to do something like that for her!

Castle, that Grinch custom is AWESOME! Glad to see that Ireland is feeling a little better!

Oh, that mickey fabric is actually from a sheet set that I bought and cut up!

Okay, I can't possibly catch up w/ this thread so I will apologize in advance for not being able to comment on all of the loverly creations you girls have been working on.

I am still waiting to hear back from my job application. I'm afraid I may have been over qualified.

But hey, with all this free time I am able to organize my closet, garage, kitchen cabinets and my husband is taking a desk from our office (work not home) it is super long and he thinks it is perfect for sewing. He is going to put our dresser in the closet and set up the desk for my sewing machine. I told him I want a bedroom not a work room and he told me as long as he has 1/2 of the room set up for recording that it's only fair that I have a place to sew w/ out lugging the machine out to the kitchen table all the time.

I fortunately have plenty of projects to keep me busy. Though I am hoping to come up w/ money for Liliana's christmas dress fabric (love those christmas trees of lisa's...maybe steph will keep her eyes out for me at the quilt shop!)
But I still have the day of the dead fabric, some shabby chic type calico prints that were going in her room...but I've swiped them for an outfit. Some elephant fabricthat is already cut into strips (I want to do some applique on this one but we'll see.) and some pink floral that I am thinking of making an outfit out of.
Plus I have been doing some knitting and have a couple minnie dot dresses to work on for a friend. so I will not be bored at least. Broke, yes, but not bored.

Oh, and I still have to cut my fat quarters and send out my fabric swaps. So, plenty to do. I'm thinking of making some fancy dancy cookies for thanksgiving, martha stewart style... you know royal icing and colored sugar. I have a pumpkin cookie cutter, I'm thinking of doing one for each plate at the house (not mine) but I've never decorated cookies before, kjust like everything else, I see something and go "umm, yeah, I can do that" and it will no doubt be harder than I anticipated and they won't turn ot the way I expect and I'll be miserable. It's a sick and twisted world I live in.

Depending on the money situation DH wants to make handmilled soaps for everyone for christmas. We're planning a lavender and peppermint theme and I'll add eye pillows (amy butler pattern) and hand knit chenille washclothes- we'll do a shampoo bar, 2 different soaps, a bath tea and a massage bar. That's if everything goes well.

I gotta run.

Oh, let her do it!!! Really though, my DD did the Cindy-Lou-Who for Dr. Seuss' B-Day one year and also again for Christmas last year the 1st grade all did a "Grinch Day" where everyone was supposed to be grumpy all day and dress a part from the movie, she again did C-L-W ! They are only young once why not!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Poor Baby, I hope she is not in too much pain, her face looks so...OUCH! How old is she?

mytwotinks, I think you are a special person to do this for her. I know it's the right thing to do, but I don't know if I could handle it myself. Just knowing that those kids will be so hurt would kill me! I have no advice on how to talk to her, I guess just being there to listen is the best thing.

Just wanted to let every one know that I found the cutest new Mickey and Minnie fabric at Hancocks the other day. I will try to post pics this weekend.

It is a red background (red is on the orangish side - matches Michael Miller's ironwork red on white). Mickey and Minnie are dancing -- pretty small -- looks like they are drawn --very cool. It was 5.99 a yard and 30% off.
Keep up the good work.

Must go to Hancocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I guess I need to see it first huh?

Love the braids!!!! That skirt is awesome, well it must be, all of your stuf is awesome! Did you say that was felt?

Glad to see Ireland smiling, my girls and I have been talking about her this morning and wondering how she was feeling. They were relieved to see her smiling and feeling better!

OK, here are the pictures of about 75% of my stash. There are about 18 pics, so I might have to sprea this over a few posts:

I think bright yellow would be very cool. Or you could alternate red and yellow.

I found the perfect pattern for my daughter last week. I bought it with the intention of making a pair of corduroy gauchos. After getting home and starting to cut out the pattern, I noticed that it is a pattern for stretchable fabrics. Can I use this pattern with my "non-stretch" corduroy?

My guess is using the non-stretch fabric would end up having the gauchos too tight. Most patterns for stretch fabrics don't include as much ease as those for non-stretch. I'd suggest getting a stretchable corduroy, get a different pattern or do test gauchos using a non-stretch fabric that you wouldn't mind wasting if it doesn't fit. You might also use the next size up for width but keep the length the same - although I'd suggest trying that with fabric that you don't mind wasting just in case.

YELLOW! That is a great idea! (Why didn't I think of that?) Then it would tie in the yellow from dd's outfit also! Thanks, Lisa!!

Denise,
I really can't say anything that hasn't been said already. RevRob really said all the right things about the situation you are going through. I just wanted you to know that I will be thinking of you and the family you are helping.

JHAM. My heart goes out to your family. I hope for the best possible outcome.

MY2ANGELS- your outfits look great!! How was that peasant top pattern, I'm planning on making a long sleeved one for littles christmas outfit.

...t.

I have a question for those of you who are making the peasant tops. How do you do the elastic that is mid-sleeve on the long sleeved tops?

So cute! I love the Minnie one on and I can't wait to see the "casual princess" with the applique/iron on. Her toes are so cute (one of the things I miss about not having a baby).

I vote black too! They both look great and so cute together! You should do your Christmas cards with those outfits!

I don't think so. My mother, who taught me to sew, always told me that the way the pattern is cut determines what kind of fabrics you can use. Those pants must be cut too narrow for non-stretch fabrics to work. Sorry.

 Or even if you made her something special non-Disney, I am sure the parents would appreciate it.

So pretty! I love the skirt with the pettiskirt. I am so glad Ireland is feeling a little better and her pigtails are so adorable I would want to wear them to school too! Megan made a picture for her today when I told her about the accident. When I said the girl in the Sea World outfit, she knew instantly who I was talking about!

I have a question for those of you who are making the peasant tops. How do you do the elastic that is mid-sleeve on the long sleeved tops?

It is very easy! You use bias tape and sew it around on the inside. Then you thread the elastic through and sew it shut. HTH!

I have kind of a silly question. I am doing the fabric swap (I figure most of you check this thread more often than the other one, I do :goodvibes ) and I don't typically prewash my fabric. Rather than putting all kinds of fabric in the laundry, I have enough laundry I should be doing!!!! Can I just cut like an 8 inch strip (I am doing the 6x6 swap) and it shouldn't shrink more than 2 inches should it? Also will I have a problem with fraying? THanks for the help. I know I should just prewash my fabrics, but I have to get them to my stash before my DH finds them. The laundry is NOT a good place to stash them!!!:rotfl2:
