I would love to make a larger sized top like this, but do I need a pattern? Does anyone do this without? I really just need to make the bodice and plan to put the elastic straps on it.

Hey my kid! I used McCall's M5310, size 3-4-5-6. The bodice is just four pieces: the front and lining, and the back and lining. Then I inserted the ribbon in between to tie. There is an option for one ruffle or two, but really you could do whatever you wanted with the bottom. I have done a strip style skirt attached to the bodice and it came out cute. I think there are similiar patterns at youcanmakethis.com as well. Please let me know if I can help further!

I make bodices like this all the time w/o a pattern. Just cut rectangles to the size you want and then cut out arm holes. I used a shirt to figure out how big the arm holes should be. Basically the armholes will be J shapes (or backwards J depending on the size.)

ok. :thumbsup2 the dress is now done...well, gotta clean up the seam and pull out the gathering thread and VOILA!!! Oh, and sew the straps down. Lily already tried it on and tried the ceremonial Twirl. I'm so glad I made it 3x full!!!! I'll get my MIL to take a pic tonight. I'm feeling accomplished so after I clean this up I'm going to try to start on my pillowcase dress, ambitious I know.
...t.
Yeah Tiffani!!! I can't wait to see it!

Arminda just walked past the computer and stopped in her tracks upon seeing this outfit!!! Now, she really wants one too! She says it looks like the pants that someone (didn't quite catch which character she said) wears in the movie. And, she also really liked the top too! Let's just say she was VERY impressed with this outfit!!

And, I always love seeing pictures of your daughter, she looks like she has a really good sense of humor. She's always got such a big grin!

got the fabric dept covered, now just give us access to that deli slicer thingy and we are good to go...only Walmart staff that would be needed would be the welcome person at the door :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! I'm laughing so hard I can barely breathe!!!!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:
You are such a nice older sister! I feel the same way about my younger sister. It's nice that you guys can share this with each other. My sister doesn't know how to sew (I don't either really, I just like to pretend that I do:) ) and even worse is that she is pregnant and she swears that she's not going to scrapbook:eek:  ! I apparently wasn't much of an influence! I'll just have to make the poor kid a scrapbook after I'm caught up on my two girls:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: As if that will ever happen!

Aww, thanks! She makes it easy! I've been sewing for years, but she just started after I showed her this thread a few months ago. Can you belive how good she is allready???!!!

It takes me weeks to get anything done! It just sits on my kitchen table staring at me until I get it done.

My bubble skirt was actually a dress that was navy blue satin with a drop waist and was way way way puffier. The top was strapless and kind of gathered. Very attractive in a Debbie Gibson kind of way:rotfl2:

Debbie Gibson! I hadn't thought about her in awhile! I believe that she goes by Deborah now though! I use to love her hats!

There is a pattern for a bodice like this in the bookmarks. Then, you could use the directions for the twirl skirts to put the bottom on it. I don't think you'd need a pattern at all.

You guys are fast! Thanks for the instructions on this!

I posted this without a model last week. DD wanted to take pictures of it today with the "accesories" she made at school!!

And...This is my practice applique. I am doing a set for DD and my 2 neices for our cruise in February. I'm not thrilled with it - that's why it's a prictice run!! That and the shirt is waaaay to full. Guess I got used to making ultra-full twirl tops!!

I think the applique looks fine! Is that one of the now infamous pillowcase panels!?!? Did you change colors as you went around, or do all white?

And, this adorable Princess fabric. I'm planning on some sort of dress for Lydia. Lydia was really excited when she saw this through the bag!

Edited, because I just noticed that in the light at home, one of the princesses does have red hair! Yeah!

I offered to make Corey a vest or chaps out of the cow fabric, but he declined. :confused3
:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Teresajoy,
I bought some of this fabric from Walmart-did you notice the three matching fabrics? One has bigger princess print and one with butterflies and one with pearls and crowns.
I have no idea what I am going to do with it but I know I "needed" it :lmao:

I didn't see it! Could you post a picture of the others for me? I want to make a dress for Lydia with a contrasting peasant top style bodice. Coordinating fabric would be great!

There is alwo a Bambi outfit I need to make for Arminda! Thanks to the generosity of a very kind Diser! (whos name is Cindee ;) )

T! I love it!!! I am just crazy about the animal print outfits! This looks really great. It was worth the wait! Your daughter is adorable, squished face and all!

It's funny I never knew how fragile pregnancy can be until our boys died but afterward I learned so much. I never knew so many people experienced the death of a child.... The first year was difficult to say the least but I've found alot of peace over the years. I usually don't tell people anymore because I don't like that people want to be sad about it for me...Really I've come to a place I'm no longer sad. I truly believe I have grown in way that may never been possible without them. There was alot of joy with that pregnancy and even some joyful moments in the few days they struggled in the NICU. I prefer to focus on that. I miss them but there was another plan for me and for them and had I not had them and lost them I may have never known my other children and I don't know that I would change anything about my life and my story....Really the phrase "I'm sorry" makes me crazy because I'm not sorry at all. Please don't be offended, I understand the sentiment but for me personally I don't feel sorry at all for the way life has twisted and turned for us. ...I have 5 beautiful children and had the first 2 not been born and then died I probably would have never known my other three and I just can't imagine that at all!!!

I think there is a whole lot of truth in that Garth Brooks song the "Dance" It's one of my favorites. When my oldest living child was born when we got in the car to go the hospital that song was first one that came on the radio...It was a spooky moment but I bellieve it was my boys just giving me a big thumbs up.....

And a funny thing my boys names are the same as a current Disney Channel show with twin boys:rotfl: I still remember the first time I caught that show. It was 11:30 at night and I was freaked out!!! Now it's my other boys favorite show and they know their brothers have the same name:) It's a fun little memory for me everytime that show is on.

Anyway thanks for all the :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: . It's much appreciated....

I quoted alot of y'all but I was so wordy I just deleted them but thanks and give a little extra squeeze to all your babies today:goodvibes

Sorry to be so long winded and off topic...I guess I'm just in the mood today...

This is a great post, thank you so much for sharing your point of view, I really want to have this perspective someday.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words & for reading Isabella's site.

(((hugs))) to all the mommies that lost their little ones.

I love the appliqué. I think you did a great job! I have not seen the panels at my store either. Do you change the colors of the thread as you go around?

I also wanted to add that the lady Liberty outfit is adorable. I bet your daughter gets so many compliments at school on her beautiful customs.

I did not buy the Butterfly one(it was purple and I did not think it really went with the other fabrics), but I did buy the other two.
Here you go:

Thanks, it took me awhile to get there and I know grief is certainly a process but I've learned alot and as tragic as my boys dying was I love my life and I wouldn't change a moment of it. I do believe in Angels and I know my sons watch over all of us. They're the absolute best at helping me find stuff when I misplace it:) It sounds crazy but when I misplace things I always stop to ask them for their help....works everytime:thumbsup2

Alright now back to the topic at hand I don't sew but I thought I'd share something I made (disney of course) enjoy!

I love Lady Liberty, what a cute outfit, darling girl and accessories.
I thought I might borrow this idea to make an outfit for a good friends DD, her middle name is Liberty.
The Snow White top is cute too!

Teresajoy, tell Arminda thanks for the compliment on the Lilo outfit.
DD is a big goofball and will pose forever if there is a camera around.

t-beri, Princess Liliana is adorable. The fabrics you used are awesome together, love the outfit.

I wanted to share what I have been doing this weekend :) Besides spending 8 hours working concessions at the Ohio State football game. We usually go to watch the games, but this is a fund raiser for our cheer gym.

Anyway- DD 10 had a pep rally today to get ready for the first competition in a few weeks. You know it is bad, when you wake up early to make something for your child to wear :rotfl2: Miss Katie had to have something to show her support for the Stars!

Here is my first wearable appliqué. I had used a teal shirt with a purple star, but my machine ate it. My new machine came with the foot that is clear so you can see where you are stitching. It really made this so much easier. I embroidered her name with my new machine (Disney brother). You can not really tell in the photo, but the dark purple star fabric has teal and silver glitter in it. I also made the tutu this morning. I tried to get DH to cut the tulle for me. I also had to make cookies for a fund raiser. Anyway, he said NO. I told him "Tom would do it for his daughter." After the LONG explanation on who Tom is, he said I spend way to much time online :) I made the jeans last year. They are a little short, I was hoping they would be capri length since they are 12-18 months and Katie is 2.5, but they kind of fit. I will add two pics so you can see the appliqué well and also the whole ensemble. She got a lot compliments today and they tried to talk me into putting her on the Tiny cheer team.

Here she is :) I love this face!

Notice her cast matches. That was no accident :) Only 1.5 weeks left to go.

Just for fun I am adding a pic of DD 10. This is her "flying". She is the one in the air. This is her scorpion, she has practiced that so much this last year, that If you ask Katie to do a scorpion she will pull her leg up behind her.
Sorry it is so dark. It was like 900 degrees in the gym and my camera was acting crazy.

Thanks for looking :goodvibes

  I thought I was the only one who did this! In fact two weeks ago we lost my daughter's glasses. We looked all over the house in all the usual spots. Then both my hubby and I combed the house. We gave up and went to bed. The next morning I was beginning to panic since we had to bring her to school. Finally I asked my angel (which is either an angel or God Himself) where the baby's glasses were. Out came the answer...popped right in my head and I repeated it outloud to my DH. We headed right to the spot and there they were.....in a bottom of a box headed for the trash can! Good thing we got them before the trashman!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Three Cheers for God!!!!!!

This came out so cute! Aimee is going to look for the panels for me so I can try it. I don't think the top looks too full at all: it looks perfect to me. The Liberty outfit looks even cuter on, of course.

That is so cute: just perfect for cheering on her sister. My mom is making a cheerleader outfit for Megan so can cheer for Jacob at the soccer games. Little sisters are the best!

You older daughter looks so talented! I don't think there was ever a time in my life that I could do that maneuver!
