I love it.... Did you rip open the legs and take off the back pockets?

Anyone else having problems finding a person to cut fabric at walmart? I was there friday night and finally left all my stuff on the counter and left after trying to find an employee for 20 minutes.

Thanks, guys, for all of the compliments. :flower3:
Yes, I did rip the inside seam out, because I didn't want to lose the little slit sewn into the outside seam of the legs. It wasn't bad at all. On the pockets, I just sewed them shut when I put the patch on them. She's not even 2, I'm thinking she won't be needing to store anything back there. :rotfl:
As for the Wal-Mart issue, they have already almost totally cleared out our fabric section. They aren't ordering anything new, so I have to drive at least 30 minutes to another Wal-Mart for fabric. However, the lady that is in our fabric department is still available every time I go over there, she just doen't have many customers because there isn't much to choose from. The funny thing is that they aren't really marking the fabric down (costwise). You would think that with as little is over there, they would clearance it off instead of staffing someone at that table everyday. :confused3

Here's my latest CASE (I think from Stephres) of the Mickey head t-shirt. I also made them dresses in this material but I'm afraid that at WDW they won't be comfortable in dresses and it will be Dec. so I'm also making Ts so they can choose. No models because they went to church with my mom. I've been Cinderella (the original) this am and then will be Cinderella 2 this afternoon when we have guests over. But right now I have the house all to myself (my DH is playing golf).

th_disboutique061.jpg

Well I just have to say that is much cuter than mine! I think the rule is if you CASE someone it shouldn't look that much better than the original! I really love the ribbon going across as well as the ribbon bow.

Wow, very nice outfit and the painting is perfect! I have making a lot of peasant tops for my daughter. They are cute without being too cute!

I wanted to spend the afternoon sewing but I think I am going to be Cinderella and be cleaning all afternoon. Jacob's room is just disgusting and I can't take it any longer. Wish me luck!

and we had a BLAST. who did I see at the All Star Sports??? in the Surfs up bldg??? we were in Bldg 1, and as I was walking back to the room I saw purple lights on the window and a DisBoards poster hanging. I wanted to sign in but the sharpie didn't work. Was it anyone from the DisBoutique???? or was it another member?
Good to be back to Dis Boards, but MAN OH MAN do I miss FL. My best friend is in Tampa and I miss her SOOOOOOOO much. my heart hurts, but I will see her again in a yr. SIGH!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHH!!!! i just sewed the bodice to the skirt w/ the seem on the outside!!!! GRRRR- clearly, I am not meant to sew!!
On the bright side, if it didn't have this hideous seam it's a great top!!!

Ok, I am going to make a confession! Don;t get mad at me guys, ok?

After waiting 20+ minutes at the fabric counter at Walmart last night, AFTER having told the lady working there I needed fabric cut, and her telling me she had to go to shoes FIRST! Corey figured out how to work that little scanner. There was another lady waiting with us too. She encouraged us a little, and then after waiting 5 more minutes, I decided to go for it. I cut the fabric, REALLY carefully (probably shorted myself actualy) and Corey punched the info into the scanner. The other customer asked us to do hers too. She cut, with us supervising, and Corey punched it in the scanner. I kept expecting someone to come over and yell at us, but no one showed up.

Ok, confession over.

I almost did the same thing Friday night... I went to my usual Wal-Mart and could not believe how little fabric they had (and I had just been there last weekend!!). I didn't find what I was looking for, but did find a couple of other things that I just couldn't live without (like McDonald's fabric for $2/yard). But there was no one around to cut the fabric. I circled the table a couple of times debating if I could figure out the scanner (I once worked at Cloth World but that was in the days of hand-written tickets) or figure out the phone to reach an operator/page someone  . But I was too chicken and finally found a couple of employees chit-chatting and was able to get one of them to cut my fabric.

I stopped by a different Wal-Mart on my way home from school this morning (and finally found the pink camo fabric I've been looking for:cool1: ) - they had a decent size fabric area, but the table the woman had to work from was hardly a yard wide. At least I was only buying 2 yard amounts - I couldn't imagine her having to cut larger amounts than that on such a small table!!

Love that Christmas outfit!

Here is one outfit I have completed for DD. This is for her to wear to Ohana, we are having our first evenings dinner there and our last days breakfast as well. She wanted Lilo and Stitch painted on, she also wanted me to put Ohana and Aloha, but I didn't know how that would look. Didn't want to go overboard.........
th_brennestitch1.jpg
That's amazing!!! What a great job! You painted that? It looks fantastic!
We made shirts last night- The only sewing was to make the mickey head shape, We tie dyed- used many of the helpful tips I found on the boards. Here they are:
47b7d702b3127ccebc2abd12283c00000025101AZsXLhszbMY

I think they turned out pretty good :)
We did it when the baby was sleeping but DS helped- We suited him up with Yellow gloves and he was good to go. I took some pics of him to but I didn't think to put them on here- I will in a bit :yay:
These all look great! Thanks for posting the picture of your son helping too! So cute!
How much were those fabrics?
They were $2 a yard, I got them in Sturgis. The princess one is gone now though. ;)
I'm thinking Tessa needs an outfit, too. She is a "Call girl" after all. :rotfl: That's how she pronounced "Cowgirl". She goes around telling people she's a call girl.
Ok, first of all :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: How funny!!! Thank goodness Lydia wants to be a Astronaut Farmer Seamstress Sometime she just shortens it to Astronaut Farmer though.

And, remember the cowgirl outfits that use to be in the Sears catalog? I wanted one of those SOOOO bad! But, alas, I never got one. So, I am living, what's that word again? Vicariously, through Arminda and Lydia!
:scared1: TERESA!!!! You bad, bad, bad, girl!!! I can't believe you did that! I can't say I haven't considered it a time or two, but I never had the guts to actually do it! I can't believe no one stopped you!

Come on Heather, you've known me for pushing 33 years now, is it THAT hard to believe?? ;) Corey and I figured we saved Walmart about $8-$9 in labor costs!
I thought our babies deserved their own seperate reply.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: To all of you!

I lost my first baby, Hayden, at 11 weeks. You can read about his story here: http://www.geocities.com/heaths32/hayden.html I have since learned that only 10% of pregnancies go to full term with the blood clotting disorder I have. So, my children are truly my little miracles! It's amazing how so many of us have this kind of grief in common. to each one of you and to all who haven't been able to conceive.

You are making me cry again, Heather. I miss my little nephew, and think about him all the time.

So terrible to lose a child. From the second you become pregnant you start having all the dreams, hopes and what ifs for your child. what hair & eye color, whose nose or chin will they have? What kind of personality? And when you don't get to live those dreams.... so sad.
You expressed that perfectly.
When I was pregnant with DD we did have a scare that there was something wrong with her heart- Worst week of my life waiting to see the perineatologist (sp?). Turned out to be a common abnormality?!?! But it is a factor for downs so we had to decide if we wanted to do the other downs tests- we didn't and she is perfectly healthy!!
We had a smilar scare with Lydia, first, we were sure we were having a miscarriage becasue I was bleeding and cramping, thankfully that went away. But, then there was a test that came back wrong (can't think of the name right now) and they were worried she might have down syndrome. They wanted to do an amnio, but with the greater risk of miscarriage after that, we didn't see why we would do that. I mean, we were going to keep and love this baby no matter what! But, they did do a level 3? ultrasound, and didn't see anything wrong on that. I was still a little worried about it until she was born, and asked if she was ok. She didn't have downs, but they were worried about her breathing, and put her in the NICU for days. Nothing was actually wrong with her, but they made us worried that she might have spinal meningitis, and I really thought we might lose her after all. :sad1:

But, as you can see, she was fine.

Thanks, guys, for all of the compliments. :flower3:

Have you wrote to Walmart about saving the fabric department? Heather has a link in her signature that will take you to the Walmart feedback page. Write them an email and let them know how much you want them to keep the fabrics at your store. It has worked for some other stores around here where they had decided to take out the fabrics!

We discussed the possibility of using the phone to page someone too! That scanner was amazingly simple to use though! It gives you directions right on it: Scan bolt, enter yards, enter price, and the little tag prints out of the machine!

Okay, seam-ripped, deep breath, repinning and sewing. :goodvibes

WOW!!! There are a lot of us! Who knew??? I guess all of our babies are having a good chuckle at us, bonding over clothes, and then heartache. Hugs :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: (definatley worth three here too!!!)to all that have stated they have had a loss, and to anyone else who may have, but hasn't mentioned it. Much love and kind thoughts, Maureen

It's funny I never knew how fragile pregnancy can be until our boys died but afterward I learned so much. I never knew so many people experienced the death of a child.... The first year was difficult to say the least but I've found alot of peace over the years. I usually don't tell people anymore because I don't like that people want to be sad about it for me...Really I've come to a place I'm no longer sad. I truly believe I have grown in way that may never been possible without them. There was alot of joy with that pregnancy and even some joyful moments in the few days they struggled in the NICU. I prefer to focus on that. I miss them but there was another plan for me and for them and had I not had them and lost them I may have never known my other children and I don't know that I would change anything about my life and my story....Really the phrase "I'm sorry" makes me crazy because I'm not sorry at all. Please don't be offended, I understand the sentiment but for me personally I don't feel sorry at all for the way life has twisted and turned for us. ...I have 5 beautiful children and had the first 2 not been born and then died I probably would have never known my other three and I just can't imagine that at all!!!

I think there is a whole lot of truth in that Garth Brooks song the "Dance" It's one of my favorites. When my oldest living child was born when we got in the car to go the hospital that song was first one that came on the radio...It was a spooky moment but I bellieve it was my boys just giving me a big thumbs up.....

And a funny thing my boys names are the same as a current Disney Channel show with twin boys:rotfl: I still remember the first time I caught that show. It was 11:30 at night and I was freaked out!!! Now it's my other boys favorite show and they know their brothers have the same name:) It's a fun little memory for me everytime that show is on.

Anyway thanks for all the :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: . It's much appreciated....

I quoted alot of y'all but I was so wordy I just deleted them but thanks and give a little extra squeeze to all your babies today:goodvibes

Sorry to be so long winded and off topic...I guess I'm just in the mood today...

ok. :thumbsup2 the dress is now done...well, gotta clean up the seam and pull out the gathering thread and VOILA!!! Oh, and sew the straps down. Lily already tried it on and tried the ceremonial Twirl. I'm so glad I made it 3x full!!!! I'll get my MIL to take a pic tonight. I'm feeling accomplished so after I clean this up I'm going to try to start on my pillowcase dress, ambitious I know.

Still working on her Halloween costume, almost done with that. She is going as Becky Thatcher from Tom Sawyer, the rest of us will be other characters from the story. I have to do my Dad's costume as well, which will be a pain. He is going as Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain! He wanted a seersucker suit, but just try finding seersucker at this time of year!! I have to go look for a suit-weight white this week.
And I need to finish up her outfit for MK..........and finish her AK one as well. I just need to embellish that one a little, thank goodness the rest of it is done.

Love that fabric! Where did you find it?

Okay, Do not let this get out! They will decide we should cut our own fabric. Just like they think we should check ourselves out. I hate those Self Checkout Lines:headache:

got the fabric dept covered, now just give us access to that deli slicer thingy and we are good to go...only Walmart staff that would be needed would be the welcome person at the door :rotfl:

The red Hawaiian style fabric came from Jo-anns, several years ago. It has been sitting in my stash waiting for the right project. I always intended it to be for Lilo and Stitch theme though, it reminded me of Lilo's dress for some reason.

It takes me FOREVER to get going on any project!!! I think about it a lot, and then I procrastinate a lot! It's kind of fun though, planning out an outfit!! Before I found this board, I didn't think I'd ever be able to actually make an outfit without a pattern, but now I see that it isn't that hard! You guys are great!

And, I really wish I could find a picture of Heather in that bubble skirt! Actually, I thought she looked pretty darn cute at the time! Of course, I thought she looked cute in pretty much anything! It was a dress I think. It had a little bolero jacket with it, that I liked to steal from her!

You are such a nice older sister! I feel the same way about my younger sister. It's nice that you guys can share this with each other. My sister doesn't know how to sew (I don't either really, I just like to pretend that I do:) ) and even worse is that she is pregnant and she swears that she's not going to scrapbook:eek:  ! I apparently wasn't much of an influence! I'll just have to make the poor kid a scrapbook after I'm caught up on my two girls:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: As if that will ever happen!

YOU procrastinate??? You seem like you are always on top of things! I know what you mean about having a deadline! If I know I have to have something done by a certain time, I get it done (at the last minute, but at least it's done!) But, to leave it up to me, I put it off and put it off!!

That bubble skirt is cute! Heather's was a bit poofier as I recall!

It takes me weeks to get anything done! It just sits on my kitchen table staring at me until I get it done.

My bubble skirt was actually a dress that was navy blue satin with a drop waist and was way way way puffier. The top was strapless and kind of gathered. Very attractive in a Debbie Gibson kind of way:rotfl2:

I have finished my second custom sample. I really like it and thought I would share with everyone. It was a hit with DD to say the least.

Back to Blue Cinderella- funny knock on wood- I am not in Satin H*ll. I think I just jinxed myself.:rotfl:

This is so cute and I love the tights with it! Perfect!

I would love to make a larger sized top like this, but do I need a pattern? Does anyone do this without? I really just need to make the bodice and plan to put the elastic straps on it.

I love it.... Did you rip open the legs and take off the back pockets?

Anyone else having problems finding a person to cut fabric at walmart? I was there friday night and finally left all my stuff on the counter and left after trying to find an employee for 20 minutes.

At the two Wal-Marts near us that have fabric you have to have it cut before 10:00 pm which really annoys me b/c I like to do fabric w/o my kids and I usually go after they go to bed and DH is home. Oh well!
