Where did you get the hoodie pattern? my little guy would look SOOOO cute in that!!! I have to know! :)

It's Simplicity 5378. I got two weekends ago when Joanns had all their Simplicity patterns for $0.99. It also comes with some cute sweatpants patterns that I'm going to try next.

Ok, so I asked my parents and hubby to go in on one and my mom said I was nuts! She said they are thousands of dollars... I guess I didn't realize that.

Does anyone recommend one and is it true they are that much?

I'm a big DUH, but am REALLY into sewing!

I have the Brother Disney SE270 machine. It is a combo embroidery and sewing machine. You can get them for about $400 at Walmart and under $400 on Ebay. The hoop size is smaller (4x4 inches), but it is a great machine to begin with. And it comes with built in Disney designs. I'm in love with mine. I got the optional PED basic to allow me to download additional designs from the internet. I bought the Kermit design from an Ebay seller.

Machine embroidery is really addicting and fun!

I have been lurking on this post for many months now and just DROOLING over everyone's talent!

My mother has agreed to give me sewing lessons every other weekend. :woohoo: I just need to get the fabric and she is going to help me create some clothes for our next trip.

Can anyone tell me where to find the "epcot" fabric with the kids. I have searched a few fabric sites and am having no luck at all.

Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure about the fabric, but I wanted to say Welcome out of lurkdom!

Done! It is a little wonky but, it is Minnie. :goodvibes It has 'character' ha ha ha. Oh yeah it is to put the plane tickets and ID in at the airport. It is hard enough juggling everything with a toddler and taking shoes off and on etc. The white part is a little plain. I think I may look at the scrapbook section for something to put on there.
IMG_4057.jpg

I love that! I think one of those adhesive Minnie appliques in the scrapbook section would be perfect in the white space! I'll be anxious to see your Minnie skirt as I'm contemplating one for myself to match DD at Chef Mickey.

Hi ladies!
i'm a frequent lurker, infrequent poster. I love everyone's designs. This thread makes me have daughter envy so bad.

I love the hoodie!! I'm having a hard time coming up with ideas for DS and a couple of those would be perfect for our Dec trip. Thanks for sharing!!

The hoodie is so cute! I am thinking fall clothes now, if you think of any other cool boys clothes to do please post. :thumbsup2
The crayon tote is adorable...remind them not to leave it in the car. :rotfl2: I melted an entire case of crayons in my parents car as a kid.

I have been trying to think of some kind of cady that can attach to a shopping cart.

Eeyore--Choo Chool Soul is on the Disney Channel between shows and they sing songs. They are hip hop based and the driver is way cute!!!!
Not sure if I can post this or not but here is the website, you can watch a video. It's on the Playhouse Disney site.
http://atv.disney.go.com/playhouse/choochoosoul/index.html

Thanks for the link! I thought I didn't know who choo choo soul was, but when I clicked on the videos, I was singing right along with them. I guess DD must be watching them when I'm engrossed with this thread. :rolleyes1

If there is a show called Pirate Shantyman and Bonnie Lass do NOT believe them that it is child friendly!! We went to the Ren Faire last month, and believe me, that show was not something for children! Or, myself for that matter! Not that this was that bad, but by the time the show was over my baby nephew, Sawyer (and all the other kids with us!) was singing, "Beer beer beer beer beer beer beer beer!" Try to explain THAT to your husband when you get home!
Tell me about it, that show was awful!! The "beer, beer, beer, beer" was the LEAST of my worries! Why didn't we just walk out of there? :confused3

What is Voldemort?
And you have adorable children. Love the photos. As soon as I figure out how to download pics I will post some with my granddaughter in her new Disney clothes....this is Makayla, both pics in my signature at WDW in October and with her daddy....she is a love!

Voldemort ("he who must not be named" from Harry Potter) = ebay

Makayla is absolutely adorable! So is her daddy, if you don't mind me saying! :thumbsup2

I love these jeans! Great job!!

Oh you guys are all making me jealous.
Our trip isn't til Nov/Dec and I am getting sooo impatient.

Sure, rub it in! We're not going until May '08!! I actually got all crazy yesterday and started trying to plan a "whirlwind" trip Sep. 3-9. But, DH nixed my idea. :sad2: I found plane tickets for $100/each from Chicago! Oh well, it was worth a shot...

I have an outfit in my head that I've been thinking of making for a month or two now. However, it involves shirring. And, last time I tried that, well, let's just say it did NOT go well! I have since adjusted my bobbin tension, and Corey has gotten a new sewing machine (thanks Heather!) so, I am thinking of attempting it now!

I just wanted to put that out there, so I will actually do it!!!! With all the gorgeous creations being posted lately, I feel the need to get going here!

The outfit involves the purple princess toille.

Wow, what are you going to make? Come on, you can tell your little sister!

have fun everyone at mnsshp- our trip for this year got cancelled!:headache:
oh well theres always next year- dh promised!

 Aw man, how dissapointing!

jessica - What in the world is a "lime green maclaren quest in the mod print?"
A stroller?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that didn't have a clue what this was! I thought I was just totally uncool...well, I'm still uncool.

I only have one right now and that is hard enough. The best part last year was trying to get an 11 month old to WALK through the scanner thingy. :rotfl: I am the oldest of 13 you would think 1 would be cake. (mmmm cake)

I am always the crazy looking lady sweating with the wild hair and the kid laying on the floor being dragged by one arm. :faint:

This brought back memories of trying to get my 18 month old DD to walk through the scanner by herself. She was clinging to my leg and screaming and we held up the line for a good amount of time.

I think you must have seen me at the grocery store and thought you were looking in a mirror!

Hi ladies!
i'm a frequent lurker, infrequent poster. I love everyone's designs. This thread makes me have daughter envy so bad.

I wanted to post a few projects I finished recently. First is a Buzz Lightyear hoodie. Our next trip is in January and I thought it might be a little cool in the evenings. Also pictured is a coloring bag I made for DS's best friend. I have plenty of the Muppets fabric and embroidery designs. I'm making baby a Muppet hoodie next. Perfect for MGM right?

I love the hoody! Your son is a doll!! Of course, he reminds me of my little guy- do you see a resemblance?

YOu've been sew busy (get it, so-sew-I crack me up!!)Everything looks great and I think you should let Norah wear her alice dress to church. I have a cousin who, when she was 5, wanted nothing else but to wear 3 ponytails to school. Her mom said that would be silly and wouldn't let her. She's 31 and still remembers that she wasn't allowed to have 3 ponytails, she told me "that's so stupid, why did it matter that it looked silly, I was 5- what harm could it have done???" She has mom issues anyway but holds a particular grudge against her for that.

:lmao: I totally agree!! My DD wears her fancy dresses everywhere we go and she's always getting asked if she's going to have her picture taken. My nieces have been known to wear gymnastics outfits to the mall (and they've never taken gymnastics) and princess dresses to church.

Just curious, when doing the jeans, why isn't Heat N Bond recommended? It would keep the patches in place, and does make the fabric firmer. Is this not enough? I was thinking that it can be used for tees too right? Or do I need to use Heat N Bond, and stabilizer? Thanks!

Yes, do be careful and not get the Heat N Bond Ultra. I bought that and it gummed up my needle. I just usually use lightweight interfacing to attach all the pieces to each other and then pin it onto the fabric with the stabilizer underneath.

ok everyone - STOP SEWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you must look at this headband.... perfect for epcot!!!!! and to match all thos outfits!

look up Bowfairies boutique House of LOVE jeweled HEADBAND

I saw this and thought of all of you today!!!!!!!!

Lori
p.s. You may now resume sewing!

Wow, that is really cute. I can't really picture it staying in my mile-a-minute daughter. I don't even really put bows in her hair because she tears them out and just leaves them wherever she is at the time.

So cute! I bought that pattern too when it was on sale. I can't wait to make a hoodie (well, I can't wait for it to get cooler too). You did a great job with it: was it very hard? I've never done a zipper yet (or sleeves for that matter). The Kermit bag is adorable too!

Ha, I just noticed that I thumbnailed the wrong picture: well, you know what I mean!

I have something to show off to you all, I have to get it off the camera first. Be back soon (I hope!). ;)

Yeah, heather...I've taken my nephew to the store many a time in a super hero costume. Until he started school (and we weren't really sure how that was gonna go) he wouldn't wear anything else, he has them all he even has "peter parker" and "bruce wayne" outfits. One day we were at a fish store (the pet kind) and I was trying to get his attention I said "hey Spidey, check out this fish" to which my DN points to his maskless (he'd left it in the car) face and says "ti ti, I'm Peter Parker" EVERYONE in the store was in stitches and I almost pee'd my pants!

Thanks! I'm thankful I only have 4 "of my own" and 2-3 daycare kids when I go shopping. I reward my 2 boys with a pack of Poke mon cards if they are PERFECT angels. If not, no-soup-for-you!

I wonder if anyone will realize it was her humor NOT the pokemon cards that got her a brazillion hits! :rotfl2: Those cards weren't worth what they sold for, i don't think!
I want that many, I can't afford that many but if I could I'd have a baseball team!!! Well, maybe not that many but 5 or 6 for sure. Let's just get on to #3 and I'll be a happy camper, for now.

Have you seen what some of these mint pokemon cards go for?? My DS(9) swears he has several in his deck that if I wasn't such a terrible mother he could sell for $100 on voldemort or some gaming sites. Um, NO! Don't ask again!!

...t.

I'm in search of some Nemo ideas. Does anyone have pics of Nemo appliques? Is there still a site with all the pictures listed so I can CASE some ideas? Thanks!

Ok, I let Megan pick what kind of bottoms: the jeans cut off into capris, regular capris or skorts. She picked skorts so I went with that. I still have fabric left so I figure I can make the jean/capris when it gets cooler. I would have done some things differently, but I'm not messing with it now. I would have done the Mickey ears better (someone asked why there was a muffin on the child's head at the bus stop). I would have used matching thread for the hair and maybe the face. I wanted to stitch her name on the Mickey ears but it was too late when I thought of that. I tried to do it with it already on, but was unsuccessful. Anyway, Megan loves it and had to wear it to school today so I am off to Joann's to buy Nemo fabric and then I am done with Disney for a bit I think. I have only made her seven outfits for four days!

Here's an outfit my DD wore to school today... I thought it was rather funny that it looks a lot like the other shirt LisaZoe posted... of course I'm SURE mine is not sewed as well. I'm still learning!

She just came home from school, so she's all tired and its a bit "worn" (ie: dirty from lunch) LOL

Here it is!

I need to catch up on the thread, and comment on all the great new posts... so easy to fall behind!

Lori-The musical notes fabric is so cool! I really like where you're going with that! Post it when you're done.! Make it snappy ;)

Ack!!! I did diaper wipe covers today and the pattern is FINE, I just had no idea how to follow the simple-easy-step-by-step instructions. It is impossible to sew the lining pieces together and the fashion fabric pieces together due to different sized pieces. So... I made it up. :sad2: Which I should never do. I am not an Art-teest like some people we know ;) I need to STICK to the set pattern and not deviate, not pass GO and not collect $200. :cool2:
LOL - I HAVE to use a pattern - messes me up to think on my own. Pics please!

OK - as per your order - I stayed up until 2 AM to finish the skirt! LOL! I still need to make a top - I have a really cute iron on and then I was going to add a heart patch of the note fabric - oh and some "bling" LOL. I have been practicing with the iron on's I ordered on DD's underwear and inside her clothes! The iron on instructions say they are supposed to be used on white fabric - and that would not match! I am thinking I will have to use a purple. Do you think it will turn out OK? No DD to model because she is at Grammy's. Oh - and how do I wash this with the tulle? I feel pretty fancy since I altered the pattern and added the tulle myself - and alternated fabric! LOL - Baby steps!

OT - DD's 5th birthday party is this weekend....antone know where I can get a Hannah Montana/Miley t-shirts? She's just discovered her and loves her!! I haven't been out shopping (besides fabric stores :)) so I don't know who carries them!! TIA

I bought shirts and PJ's for DD at Toys R Us.

Well let me know. Maybe today I will wash the Little Pony t shirt dress I made DD, in HOT water, since it is so stinking big. I'm telin you , I'm still:confused3 about that one! Really must have been the fumes from the E 6000.

Well, I washed them then dried them in the dryer with cool air - I'm just trying to get the patches to fray - and the Lite HnB is very flexible, you can't even tell it's under the patches... but the Ultra HnB is stiff and you can defnitely tell it's there. I used the Ultra before I found out that it would mess up my machine!!! So, those patches are just HnB'ed not stitched down.

UM - I was in Joann's with my son on tuesday he's asleep with head on the bar of the cart just coming from the Dr. he's got a double ear infection and had his shots. And I thought of you with your disguses when I saw a lady carrying around some disguise type glasses from the halloween stuff... took all I had not to giggle at her!

I wanted to share the Minnie Mouse pillow case dress actually on DD - I know I shared it while on the hanger but here it is "live" Here's one with her and Minnie and one with Mickey (who was THE best mickey EVER!!!!)

iCD0E7456-CFFE-476F-9E91-6F01E1EE1C92.jpg

I hope DS is feeling better soon! My DS was (still kinda is) an ear infection kid - that is until he got tubes ((HUGS)).
Love the pic of DD with Minnie! So cute!

Here is the cupcake fabric I bought the other day (it is Martha Negley fabric) ok not Disney but, so cute I had to show you. I already made a little knitting bag out of the turqoise one.

We will be at MNSSHP on the 14th too! Ds will be wearing this:
mickey2.jpg

I will be wearing a Minnie skirt (NOT a mini skirt LOL) which I will post here soon.

I love love love (min 3) the ticket pouch. It is super cute! At AC Moore all of there scrapbook is 30% off. (Paper is 40% off.) They have some cute things like Disney, Mickey, Minnie and I think ears too. I think you could either glue on set them with the iron.

Where did you get your cupcakes? That would make great birthday fabric!!

I am going to do a minnie dot skirt for me too. I just am waiting closer to our trip so I can shed a couple more pounds!!!

someone may have already answered, but thought I would in case. Have you tried the transfer paper that says it is for dark fabric? I think it has a white background instead of a clear so that you don't lose the color or detail.
