i like your DD spongebob is the sponge:rotfl: my lil ds2 sings the mickey mouse clubhouse song and hot dog ...

My DD gets really upset when DH and I do the hot dog dance. We tell we can't help. I hear the music and I have to hot dog. Man it ticks her off!

Yes, I can hear the Capt. now! Oops. (I only let her watch SB when I need her to sit still for thirty minutes!)

I saw this Pillowcase skirt online.
p1010003_10.jpg

here is the how to...
http://belladia.typepad.com/bella_dia/2006/05/pillowcase_skir.html

It looks cute to me and easy enough too.
I just never see cute patterned pillowcases. I must not know where to look.

My first reaction was "am I to big for this?", as I am "slightly" larger than I would like ;) then the image of me climbing into a pillowcase came into my head, you know, to see if it would fit :rotfl2: and now am just cracking up. :rotfl:

Ok, here is the proof that I have lost my ever loving mind. It is in the 90's today here in Florida as it has been all summer and will continue to be until October probably. So I decide to make Megan a corduroy jumper, the prefect summer outfit. I really couldn't help it: it has pink and red flowers embroidered all over it and it was 50% off. So here she is:

Also, when I was taking the pictures she was sure all of you would be interested in her first wiggly tooth, so here is a picture of that:

100_1656.jpg

For example, I was using my seam ripper the other day thinking how odd it was that Teresa stuck it in her thigh when I stabbed myself in the thumb with it! I was so mad and it was so hard not to get blood all over everything when you are spouting from your thumb!!

Your daughter is so precious!!! Tell her that I loved teh lose tooth picture! the jumper is adorable ,great work.

I tell you, seam rippers are EVIL!!!!

I multi-quoted you because I was going to say that I am the sweetest, but she beat me to it. Great, er...weird minds think alike! Actually she is my BFF I'm so lucky to have a sister like her!
Oh, goodness, you are going to get me all crying here! I still remember the day Mom and Dad brought you home, all wrapped up in that orange clown blanket. But, despite the scary clowns, I still thought you were the most adorable thing I had ever seen! (you still are!)
I'm going to start cracking down on the lone banana posts. Come on, what's a banana doing dancing all alone?
I giggled when I read this, then Corey wanted to know why I was laughing, so I tried to read it out loud to him, but by the time I got done, I was laughing so hard, I couldn't finish it! (And by the way folks, I do an EXCELLENT impersonation of a dancing banana. Heather said so!)
I am dying of laughter. You are absolutely hilarious. Hey, I live next door to my Mommy and Daddy
Rub it in, just rub it in!

I vote for going to Joann's. I'd be going with you if my little Beanie wasn't sick (evolultion of Beanie- Sawyer= Soy Bean= Bean Boy= Beanie Boy= Beanie)

I missed you while I was shopping today! When Brian asks why I didn't stay home and, "get something done" (yeah, like that was really going to happen anyway!!!) I will tell him that YOU told me to go shopping!   (THREE bananas!)
I love it because it reminds me of something I would have wore when I was little. She picked out the trim herself (before we had the fabric).
Here it is:

nightgownclose.jpg

She looks SOOO cute in this! It reminds me of the nightgowns my little sister use to have.

(she's been contracting for 2 days and can barely walk I doubt I'm gonna make it anyway!)

...t.

You should have my sister, she's super speedy in the labor and delivery department. A matter of a few hours with Sawyer. I BARELY made it to her room at the hospital before my very FIRST (biological) nephew was born. And, I got to cut the cord!!!

jeansoutfit.jpg

Now this next one I sewed myself! I used Simplicity 4161 and just modified the flounce to add the yellow dot panel. And though I didn't bother taking a picture of the back, I did my first zipper! :cool1: I plan to add a black turtleneck and ruffled pants so I can layer her since we're going in January.

minniedress.jpg

Thanks for letting me share, I should have an outfit for the 8 year old to share later today after I take care of some details. Right now we're in the middle of a math lesson though so it has to wait :)

Great outfits! I love the Minnie Peasant blouse. Great job on the dress, it's adorable! WOO HOOO Zippers!
A trip to the fabric store without a constant stream of interruptions? No one playing hide and seek under the fabric bolt racks? Not having to buy something you didn't want because your youngest wiped her boogers on it (this of course is reference to a FRIEND of mine :cool2: ). Not having to pretend you actually LOVE the Pokemon fleece and can't wait to create something out of it? Not having to re do the entire thread spools display?

Or you can mop the kitchen floor, of course. :rolleyes1

It was kind of strange! I kept looking around for Lydia in a semi-panic! It was eerily quiet in the car too. No bickering, no singing, no constant chatter from Arminda (she once talked the ENTIRE ride home from Florida, 19 hours! Seriously), no helpful "advice" from Corey about any number of things. Just me, and a giant list of pattern numbers. I even got to stop at some garage sales, and actually LOOK at things! WOW!!

Clean kitchen floors are overrated. My kids always slip and fall when I mop it! (and I'm talking about AFTER it's dry!) They need some traction, yah know? Yep, that's why I don't mop my kitchen floor, safety issues! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yikes, contracting for 2 days  ??? Poor thing! I vote for planned c-sections... and plenty of the good stuff (pain meds).

I second that one! I was in labor for 36 hours with Corey, only the last 24 were completely and totally horribly unbearable though. Then, I pushed for an hour, then they decided to do a c-section. Arminda and Lydia were planned c-sections. Definetely the way to go.

Hey TeresaJoy - You'll have to post a pic of your dd! I would love to see a Lexi-look-a-like!princess:

I've posted some before, but I don't think you get the full effect from them. I will have to look for some that capture the "Lexi-look"!
I love that fabric!!! It may be from overseas as I was able to fine some "Marie" aristocat fabric from overseas! If you find some I would love to know where you got it!
Lydia loves Marie, I wish I could find some of that!

Hey Disney lovers!! I am so new here, so excuse some of my wrongful posts yesterday. I had a flood of PM's yesterday and I appreciate you all letting me know the specifics. I wasn't able to respond to you all, it wouldn't allow me to for some reason. I have to say all your enthusiasm for sewing and creating is very catchy! I enjoy seeing your creation.
We are avid Disney goers, holding annual passports and residing in Southern California. I got all amped up about fall last year and created my two girls these adorable pumpkin jack o lantern shirts featuring the infamous mouse!!! They are pictured in my Avatar on the side. When I am allowed I will post more pics of our visit of that fun trip! The decorating for the fall is insanely gorgeous! I hope to share more with you all since we are a "Disney" family and have been frequenting Disney atleast 6 times a year for the last 20 years!!! Keep on sharing your creations!!! I love em!

You can post your Ebay ID in your signature.

According to the item description, the fabric was made and sold only in Japan. Anyone know where to look to find Japanese fabric?

Just off the top of my head, I would say, Japan? ;) :lmao:

Great job!! I had a bad shirring experience a month ago, and haven't tried again!

Great find Lisa. I was at Walmart today and bought ballerina style animal print flats for my daughter for $7.00. They were on sale from 12 something. They would match the last row of this skirt (a cheetah print?) perfectly!

Lydia is begging me for those shoes!! They are so cute!

Anyone know a website or contact info for the Spring company that makes the Disney fabrics? I'm gonna find that Jasmine fabric if it's the last thing I do! I don't know where else to begin.

Does anyone have easy directions for sewing a tutu skirt. I've alredy looked at teresajoy's bookmarked instructions, but none really say HOW to sew it together. I think I could do the tie one, but how do you cut the strips? My thought is to make a sewn one with Grossgrain ribbon on top that ties around DD waist. Do you sew all the layers together then gather it? How many layers do I need and how many yards. My DD is 8 and wants it past her knees. Guess I could use any and all help you guys have!:confused3

I really don't like the tie method. I just take a peice of tulle, twice the length you want it to be, fold it over, sew a casing in the top, and run ribbon or elastic through it. You can fold over several layers of tulle at once for more fullness. If it's not full enough around, just add another section of tulle. Not gathering involved.

For those that asked. I had seen these around I am sure I can find a few tutorials...
This happens to be one of my fav. blogs!

But, I didn't really make mine like that. I wanted to include paper so I went and found a little notebook.

Thanks! I've added all the directions to the bookmarks site. :thumbsup2
For everyone that is looking for something else travel-y to make how about a car organizer. (We already discussed the car seat cover, right?? ;) )
http://www.instructables.com/id/EHQ8O93F2NOBPF7/?ALLSTEPS

Thanks! Do you have a pattern for the car seat cover? I saw one once that was Minnie dots and had Minnie ears on the top. I will try to find the picture and post it. I am still thinking of trying to make it.

WHAT TIME IS IT????

SUMMERTIME!!! Did you like the movie? I thought the first High School Musical was MUCH better! Arminda was really mad at Troy for how he was treating his friends. But, I assured her that things were going to work out in the end! Am I smart or what!!??!!! By the end she was cheering and clapping her hands!

what i watch spongebob on a daily basis at least 6 x's a day I know he is a cartoon character but i just love him.. when the hot dog song comes on i have to dance too tell her that you know of another set of parents dancing to it too...:rotfl:

it is cute !! but i totally pictured the same thing:scared1: and i imagine me getting stuck:scared: and somebody who lives by a firestation.(.karebear1.) would post a picture of me ..

i liked it alot i think it was a lil more realistic on how friends are in high school :confused3 my poor dd fell asleep and did not get to see the end ...:scared: but my dh came upstairs and told me he had DVR'ed it just for that reason what a loving dad...

I'm sure we'll watch the "sing along" version this weekend. It was a cute movie and had some fun songs. What matters most to me is DD loved it and will no doubt be singing the songs (or at least the words she remembers LOL). I'm thinking I might make her a cheerleader outfit like from the first movie. I think she'd love that for her dress-up box. :)

AQUANET!!!! I love it. I have not thought about that stuff since I had mall bangs in the 5th grade!

You are right if you want hair to stay put that is the best!
:rotfl2: We used to call it "RADAR-HAIR" :lmao:
Ahhhh the good ole days ... aqua net & a hair dryer ...
back when it took 1 hour in the bathroom, to get ready every morning, before we feel asleep again on the bus to school.
Gotta luv it.
Especially if it's in your yearbook pictures :woohoo:

Uhhhh, I need a king size pillow case...
But that' be nice and breezy for the Summer or vacation. I'd worry it'd get stuck in my crack, if you know what I mean :rolleyes1

Well! Norah is going to look fabulous for our vacation and the rest of us will be a hodge podge of mis-matched mayhem. At least I have the requisite lime green CROCS and Bagallini...to steer the eye away from the "mom clothes"....that's the plan anyway!:cool2:

Aww, that's so sweet! How nice of him! Arminda is making plans to return to my Mom's house to watch the sing along version. We don't have cable(we just have rabbit ears :scared1: ), so we have to rely on the kindness of relatives.

I am glad that Arminda is loving it so much, because before, it was just ME that loved it!

Now, we just need to get the double DVD set with the added bonus features! (no, it isn't out yet, but I know it will be!)

I got "caught up in life" for a few days & got behind HERE ... Now, It's 3AM & Just Got Caught Up on the THREAD/Forum! :thumbsup2
I'll try to keep it short. But There were so many GREAT ITEMS, I just had to give a bunch of shouts out to you all! ... I made some pictures Click-To-Enlarge, to save space ;)

Love 'em, Nana! I especially like the 3-d bandana & knot. Beautiful!
I think it looks Wonderful! I still hand-gather my tulle, so I sympathize! My Ruffler hates tulle ...
OH! I had the same problem until I discovered my Mini Bowdabra (available at Michaels or a craft store near you ;) It holds tight all the layers of ribbon and you can tie it tight! It was worth the $9.99 minus 40% off coupon! I also got the bowdabra tie wire and I love it!
Hey, THANKS! Bow-making often frustrates/baffles me. Maybe this will help me?! :)
I think it turn out just Gorgeous!
Beautiful work!

But, I didn't really make mine like that. I wanted to include paper so I went and found a little notebook.
I cut out two rectangles 9"x15" but, you probably want to go by how tall your notebook is if you include one. If it is just crayons it can be shorter.
Sew all the way around (right sides together) except leave a hole on one side (to turn right side out & for the elastic (or you can put in ribbon/rickrack etc.) (You want the hole for the elastic more towards the top.) IF you forget to put the hole in the right spot I have heard you can use a seam ripper to open a little hole and stick the elastic in and overstitch. :lmao: OK that is what I did ha ha ha.
Trim corners and flip right side out. Iron (I know a pain ha ha) Stick in your elastic or ribbon and top stitch all the way around.
Turn up the bottom to create the pouch and stitch down on sides and the new bottom.
I used washable crayons that are a little bigger than normal but, not the giant ones. I stuck one in all the way to the side and stitched as close as I could leaving the crayon in. Mine ended up being 1&3/16" wide so I marked across for the eight crayons and stitched down. Stuck the notebook in and sew on a button and you are done.
My notebook is very small I think it was called a scratchpad or something.
If anyone needs more pics I can certainly do that.
THANKS for sharing this! My girls are sooo into coloring!
So, here it is...I can tuck the strap in if it is in the way.
THANKS for sharing! I really love this idea!
Adorable! & Looks sooo comfortable, too! Great Work!
Looks Great! An Arial Decoupage T would look cute, too.
Nice Work! :) Gorgeous!

I got to go by myself tonight. It was lovely!!! We were all going to go but Sophee took a nappy and Hannah wanted to stay with her Daddy. I grabbed my super cute silver metallic Juicy Couture bag and was off like the flash. I feel so light when I do not have 17 sippy cups and diapers!

I found a pj pattern I can modify to make Hannah's Megra costume. I even found cute Greek trim. I am adding that even though it was not on the dress in the movie. I also found really great gold cording for my fantastic skirts.

Then I did it . . . I bought Christmas fabric!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Well I have a couple pages more to read and then I am going to do some organizing and watch the reruns of Monk and Psych. I missed them tonight because I was :surfweb:

Isn't it amazing how skinny we get when we "loose" our children??? I have been known to ...skip!!!

Oh honey you are so behind! I bought Rudolph and Island of theMisfit toys fabric about a month agao. It is sitting right next to LAST years Halloween fabric. (Very safe place for it, since NOONE goes near it!)

I've been enjoying this thread! So many talented ladies here. :) Now I want to get into the fun for my 2yo! But I'd like some help. Is there a pattern out there for making the basic Minnie/Mickey head? Or do you have a favorite measurement for each circle? The CD sitting here in front of me looks like a good place to start, I'm just not sure of the proportions for the ears. Thanks in advance.

Here you go, 2 differnt versions. Just copy it to your computer and then you can play around with the size. There is a lot of great info and most everything you've seen on here is listed on the first post under the photobucket site or teresajoys bookmark site of helpful patterns etc.

and i imagine me getting stuck:scared: and somebody who lives by a firestation.(.karebear1.) would post a picture of me ..

Spongie- I wouldn't post pictures of you stuck in a pillow case dress! That would be mean! To be really honest with you, and in all sincerity, I just couldn't do that to anyone- even as a joke. I know how frustrating it is to put an item of clothing on and then not be able to get it off (been there, done that!)

Instead..... I would call the fire department for you (yeah , the one next to my house) and get them over here to help you get out of it! After all- that's their job! :rotfl2:

Here is what I found at Jo Ann's.

Halloween-

meg002.jpg
We got that same Hello Kitty fabric for Halloween!

spongebob is..Are you ready kids ? aye aye captain. i can't hear you...oooohhhhh..

Great, now I have that song in my head and it is only 9:30! :scared:

I made this today for the plane ride:

My monkeys are upside down but, whatever.
That is too cute! I found this to go off of your idea for girls
121x150_Artist%20tote%20123.jpg

Okay, this is my first attempt at shirring. This is my DD8 with her shirred top with shirred straps :yay: There were issues which included laboriously taking out three rows of elastic thread which was almost enough to make me chuck the whole &(&%^*^(#@% project. But I did it and I like it. The buttons on the back and on the pants pockets are just for fashion, not function. Again, I plan to put a black shirt (not turtleneck as DD refuses to wear them) under when the weather is cooler. Oh, and the last pose was her idea and she begged me to take it and post it. And yes, she's a drama queen who takes theatre classes :hyper:

Just remember custom carseat covers are NOT considered safe. They are not flame retardant and do not meet the federal guidelines that are required. Using one will void any warranty on your seat and release the carseat manufacturer from any liability if your child is hurt in their seat, it may also change the way the straps fit making it unsafe in a crash. Just my FYI for the day.

After being so inspried by everyone I have bought a custom outfit for DN birthday. I have permission to share from the seller/designers. I fell in love with the JoJo outfit Tink561 bought for Gracie and our very own Diser Dena made a similar one for my DN  The pretty little girl in the photo is her DD :cutie: I found a seller on Voldemort to make the matching shoes :cool1:
