does anyone sell any of these items on Ebay? if so please tell me and give me a link or some way to get there, my DD wants a cute outfit to where to DW! please let me know ASAP!!! WE ARE LEAVING IN 2 WEEKS!!!!:confused3 :sad2: :guilty: :sad1: :scared:

OK, you all have inspired me to dust off my sewing machine. For those of you who said that you have not sewed since Middle School, I think you are LYING! :lmao: Not only have I not sewed since then, I remember I was so bad back then that the teacher had to modify the final project to make it something I could actually do - I think it was a pre-cut pillow project :rotfl2:

Anyway, here are my projects from the last few days.

First one - the diaper pouch. I want to make one for my DSIL, so I figure I should make about 20 first in order to get one that is good :rotfl:

Here is the second one. You can't see it too well (good thing!), but the hand stiching got better! It went from truly horrible to only really bad

After completing those, I really felt crafty! My DD has an old play stove that we bought at a yard sale. The fabric in front looked pretty worn even after washing so I said "oh I can make a new one." When I was done I said to DH - OMG I just made a curtin! He thought that was pretty funny.

Thanks for the inspiration! I LOVE seeing all of your wonderful creations! I think I will try to put a strap on my next diaper pouch like a PP did, and maybe tackle that crayon pouch too. :thumbsup2

ARGGGGG!!! I am NOT meant to sew today!!! I started making a ruffle fro DD's Halloween outfit...it didn't work!!! After trying to do it using a basting stitch (it broke BOTH times) I broke out the dental floss. Of course I didn't have quite enough, so I shortened my ruffle. After zigzaging over the floos I startrd gathering. Much better, until I came to a section where the needle caught the floss!!! AHHHH!! :headache: I tugged too hard and heard the tell-tale SNAP.....the zigzag stitch broke!!! I decided to give up on that for now and finish DD's "Cow" dress for a birthday party tomorrow. While hemming it (not even an inch into the hem actually) The machines needle hits a pin...bending it into a "W" shape and of course breaking the needle!!!!! :scared: Now I know I have more needles but...yep you guessed it I CAN'T FIND THEM!!! So I go and get the mail and lo-and-behold an absolutely adorable custom is just waiting to be opened. I go to take a picture to show all of my "new" friends and the battery on the camera is DEAD!!! I QUIT!!! I AM DONE FOR THE DAY!!! I MIGHT ACTUALLY GO CLEAN!! :laundy:

Very cute! I used that princess fleece to make my daughter a nightgown and used the leftovers the same way! I cut out some of the hearts and used fabric paint around the edges (before I was brave enough to try appliqué) on the back pockets but I really like the ric rac you chose! I hope your DH is feeling better and I know your daughter will love them!

I got some cute fabric today! Martha Negley Cupcakes fabric. I will have to post pics later. A lady I know opened a fabric/yarn store, ooooo dangerous.

Sorry I don't mean to sound mellow. I am extremely excited over the new machine. I just have not slept since well this past week due to sever head aches.

Not a great time to try out your new machine... I have had more headaches lately due to ragweed coming out in Maine. Is yours due to allergies?

I find I get way too frustrated too quickly to sew with a headache.

I hope you feel much better soon, so we can see what you create!

Speaking of which, I made a peasant top to go under my DD7's Alice dress (for our 1900 Park Fare breakfast). It's cute. I just haven't figured out what I'll put in her hair. She just had it cut for Locks of Love, so it's MUCH easier to manage! I thought about finding a black headband like Alice's (with a bow), but now I'm thinking I may just use a blue bow.

I also found a great top for her Mickey 'oalls. I got some red MJ Crocs for her to wear with them (and w/other outfits, too)... I'll ask her for a fashion show soon. (I posted the o'all on a hanger a while back- I always appreciate seeing your kids in their customs, so I'll do the same!) She's aggravated with me enough today making her try out the top at the insert of every elastic!

AAAAHH!!! I had a more obnoxiously long than usual multi-quote going when ds1 restarted my computer for me. Thanks Sawyer! Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for their sweet comments on the nightgown I made. It's really big, but Tessa loves it and says it's "comfy cozy".
I also wanted to share my big '90's hair with you all. This is the story of how I met my husband- at the MALL!! The 2nd pic down showcases the biggest my hair ever got. It was just me, my curling iron, and a bottle of Stiff Stuff.

WHAT TIME IS IT????
IT'S SUMMERTIME!!! Just picture me dancing as I say that!

Anyway, I do have a question for you. How did you make the strip thingy in the back to put buttons on? I'm wanting to do a dress for DD3 (will be DD4 tomorrow!) and want to use that in the back. I haven't read thru the rest of the posts yet, so maybe this has already be asked and answered.

Chantell

I don't have a clue how I did it! I just followed the directions on the pattern and it magically formed. Seriously, I didn't think it would turn out because the instructions didn't make much sense. But, I did what they said and it turned out okay. The pattern is McCall's 5224

My DD gets really upset when DH and I do the hot dog dance. We tell we can't help. I hear the music and I have to hot dog. Man it ticks her off!

:rotfl2: I love ANY parents who tick their kid off by doing the hot dog dance! :lmao:

Oh, goodness, you are going to get me all crying here! I still remember the day Mom and Dad brought you home, all wrapped up in that orange clown blanket. But, despite the scary clowns, I still thought you were the most adorable thing I had ever seen! (you still are!)

How long before they kick us off the board for excessive sappyness?

(And by the way folks, I do an EXCELLENT impersonation of a dancing banana. Heather said so!)

She really does!   If there were 3 of her, she'd look just like that!

Just remember custom carseat covers are NOT considered safe. They are not flame retardant and do not meet the federal guidelines that are required. Using one will void any warranty on your seat and release the carseat manufacturer from any liability if your child is hurt in their seat, it may also change the way the straps fit making it unsafe in a crash. Just my FYI for the day.

Wow, I didn't realize that. I didn't know that regular car seat covers were flame retardant. I thought my DD's was just regular denim. Thank you for the heads up!

He went to get a new key for the lawn mower and came home with a new sewing machine. He bought me the Brother 6000i I was looking at to surprise me.

Now I am going to read through the manual.

Do they make a ruffler foot for this machine?

WOW!! What a husband!!! I hope your head is feeling better. I know how awful those migraines can be.

That's SO cute!! What an adorable girl, too!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my jumper and Megan's loose tooth. When I told her about each one she said, see, I told you they would want to know. She was especially glad that the "mommy who made the Simba dress" liked her tooth. She is a crack up.

100_1658.jpg

How weird am I that I feel so honored that she was especially glad that I liked her tooth? She is just such a sweet looking little girl! She could be a model! I love the new outfit- GREAT job!!

Nothin' worse than a pillowcase wedgie...:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: I'm just sitting here wondering how you would know that! :rotfl:

That's really cute!! Great idea and great job!

I LOVE it!! It's so original and your DD is so pretty!

I want to add that I SO appreciate everyone's silly sense of humor on here! You all always put me in a good mood!

I finished my 2nd applique (Well I almost finished it, I still have some detail work to do). I made the whole thing as requested by my DD. SHE is very happy with it!   I tried to get a decent picture of her spinning in it and couldn't catch her LOL.

Now I am off to enjoy a diet pepsi! I still need to make something for her to wear to her picnic tomorrow:confused3

aaaah!

This is so cute - and so is your DD - she looks so happy! Great job mom!

UGH! I have had sewing days like that - I am usually ready to hit it again after a break!

Yes, it's rough when you have a "Sewing day" like that. I think taking a break to get the house in order is an excellent idea and helps to ease any stress that you may have once you take up the project again. I find myself that sewing in a clean house is very theraputic since I don't have to worry about things being out of sorts, but sometimes I need to finish a project and my house gets a bit neglected

aaaah!

Again, I love to see their smiling faces! I LOVE the Mike!! I have that exact same Mike (coloring page) saved to put on a polo shirt for my son. He's hysterical!

It's just beautiful!!! The outfit and your DD.

LAZYDAZY8---- What a kind and generous DD you have:banana:     !!! My son is currently in luekemia remission. He liked being bald and now has hair for the first time in a year. The girls at his clinic do not. It is amazing how much more girly a little hair can make those children feel. As a cancer mom---- Thank you to your little girl!!!!!! Peolple may never realize how much that hair meant to a little girl. :hippie:

My son is still on chemo but is doing wonderful. He is a tough cookie!!!

Also how does anyone have the time for all of this sewing?? I need some time management help I believe. Thanks--- Mindy

My mom would sew for me a lot when I was little. She was a real do-it-yourself-er.... I guess I come by it naturally!

Once I hit the tweens, I was such a pip about it. I'd see some trendy outfit that I wanted and my mother's comment would be, "oh, I can make that." We'd leave the store w/o it and whether she'd get to making it or not, I'd be disappointed. (What a brat I was!)

I have one story in particular, that greatly forms the way I think as a mom now...

One Easter, I was in 5th grade, my mom decided that I didn't NEED a new dress. I had a lovely one from the year b/f that still fit me (I only wore it that one time). It was the night before... and I just had a fit... I cried and complained about how all my friends would have a new dress at church and how I didn't want to wear the same one as last year. (Okay, I admit, I was spoiled!) Thinking back on it now, I was terrible!!!! The dress was lovely. I knew that I was going to be wearing that dress, but somehow I decided that the night b/f was a good time to pitch a fit and it made my mother feel terrible.

When I woke up the next morning, beside my closet was my Easter basket filled to the brim with goodies. Above it, hung an adorable dress, made from a collection of calico prints from my mothers cherished stash of fabrics. She spent the majority of the night making me a new dress to wear to church.

When I told my mother this story, about a year ago, she doesn't even remember doing it. She was so selfless of her time and of herself, that she didn't EVEN REMEMBER!! She did cry, however, as I told her about it. (As did I!)

That dress was a favorite to a friend of mine in school. She coveted it. I remember her telling me that she would sneak in my house one night and steal it, she loved it so much. My friend Karrie was from the wealthiest family in town. She had more clothes than I dreamed to have, yet she loved THAT dress!

My DD7 complains every time I ask her to try something on that I am in the middle of making. Even if our kids don't appreciate it or they take for granted that they have crafty moms (or dads), someday, maybe when they're parents, they'll realize how much love we put into the things we make for them!

Not a great time to try out your new machine... I have had more headaches lately due to ragweed coming out in Maine. Is yours due to allergies?

My headaches are a combo of my allergies and migraines.

Right now the machine is sitting on my sewing table looking nice and I am scared to touch it.

I will try to post some pics of the dresses I made the girls for church tomorrow. I used a old hand me down machine that was more destructive than anything. It took me a week to make a dress that the pattern claimed would take an hour. My head could have been part of that trouble.

Do they make a ruffler foot for this machine?

I have a 6000i and I found out an old ruffler for my 1951 Singer sewing Machine fits (although does not "snap on") it uses the set screw. You just have to remember to set the needle on "center" rather than the "default" left side. happy ruffling...Nana...Hey did you know it is hard to type with a cat who wants to be held like a "burping baby"...Geez now he is liking my one hand raw....LOL

BOO HOO! I wanted to post pics of the Halloween set that I just finished (capris with ruffles, belt & semi-appliqued tee) and my camera battery is dead! It's so cute (if I do say so myself) and I can't wait for you guys to see it.

My hotfix tiara came in the mail today and I put that on the princess dress that I posted the other day. It's the perfect finish! I want to post a pic of that as well.

Until my battery has life again, I guess I should get back to sewing, huh? Or maybe do a load of laundry?
