What about a peasant blouse and twirly skirt?
I found this blog and think this top is soo cute.
http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/peasant-blouse.html
I want one for myself...although maybe a different fabric ;)

I'd love to make a peasant blouse for my dd and myself. We're close to the same size except for up top. :rotfl: Any suggestion on how to adjust for an adult size?? I think I could wing just about all but wonder about the sleeve openings. Anybody tried this?
thanks for any help

Hi Ladies and Tom! :yay:
I know its not Disney stuff yet, but I was teaching myself how to applique and sew. Its been awhile since I have sewn and I have only appliqued once so I wanted to practice on different shapes. My DD3 saw this fabric and picked it out! She even matched the purple to the print! So I made the dresses for both little girls: (DD2 1/2) and DD (almost 4)

I used the pattern in the upper left corner. See and Sew 3888:

My camera isnt the greatest so I took pics inside and outside. Here's an overall pic

Here's another

There was a battle going on between the purple broadcloth, the fusible interfacing and the appliques. I sent the "iron" in to straighten them all out and this is the best "she" could do. Notice the wrinkles  Oh well

Outside pics. I made one with a heart and two flowers on the front

And the other with two hearts and a flower, so they aren't identical. I also added the ruffle at the bottom which wasn't on the pattern. Good practice!

IMGP3749.jpg

Here's the back. I made two hairbows too. I don't know if you can see them here

Next week they do a "dry run" at pre-school since this is the first time going. I think they will wear these dresses! Whohoooty :cool1: I finished an outfit. Now I gotta make a back-to-school outfit :teacher: and then I think I am ready to begin my Disney stuff!!! :mickeyjum

I wish my little ladies, acted like little ladies...LOL. They ride in the disney strollers, which are low to the ground, and they don't keep their legs closed...so needless to say, the last time she had on a dress...a little boy commented on her spongebob underwear....:rotfl:

So If I did pillowcase dresses, they would need bloomers...LOL

:lmao: :lmao:

My step daughter is EXACTLY the same way!!! I am constantly reminding her to keep her "knees together". She was mortified when a boy in her class saw her "Tink" undies!! I pointed out that she should have had her knees together and her skirt DOWN and she responded with "But I was HOT and HE was a gross boy for even looking right?!" Can't argue with that logic!

I love the skooter skirts for that reason!!!:thumbsup2

He is in love with it! He asked if I had a machine he could play with and I remembered I had this in the basement. It was mine when I was a kid!

OMG! I so need one of those for my daughter... thats so cute!!

check out this NBC outfit on our favorite auction site. The keywords
Christmas Nightmare CUSTOM Halloween should get you there (actually I just checked and those keywords will bring out 2 cute ones I was looking at the 1st but the 2nd is great also) Ends in just over an hour so check completed if you don't see it....

:scared1: The one that went for 565 dollars????? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Eeeeek! LOL

Oh and your DS sewing on your old machine is terrific. It looks like he is having a great time and making a cool shooting star btw!!! Of course my girls saw it as I was reading and they say...."Oh I want one!!!"

I have that pattern and haven't made the first thing with it. The dresses are too cute and the girls are just adorable!! One question...how do you think that dress would look with a long sleeve shirt or turtleneck underneath it?

TeresaJoy....
Wow! I finally took some time and really went through your links and they are GREAT. I peaked at it a few weeks back and found just what I was looking for then - pillowcase dress. But I think the list of links has grown since then :).
Thank you for keeping that list. :thumbsup2

I need to go back and make sure I have a bookmark for it.
THANK YOU!

I am doing the same pattern for an Animal Kingdom dress. How did you handle the button? I am a little:scared1:

I would loooooove to find some NBC fabric as well!

Well there are several sheet sets for sale on e-bay. Can I even mention that word here? Anywhoo...search Nightmare before Christmas sheets. Please do not bid on the glow in the dark ones though...I want them!

After seeing a Raggedy Ann one online, i went out and bought tons of Raggedy ann fabric and I think about 10 matching fabrics for a twirl skirt. I also bought the bows, stripped socks and little wooden Raggedy ann and Andy to put in the center of the bows...I just have to assemble it all...

Will you pleasse please please post pictures???

I looked at the site that shall not be named and I really don't want to pay that much for them. I will keep scouring the shelves for some on a bolt.

BTW...does anyone else feel like we are talking in Harry Potter code when we mention the auction site that shall not be named? Maybe we should just call that popular auction site Voldemort, it's certainly shorter than typing "the auction site that shall not be named"! I just thought this was funny and couldn't keep it in any longer.

Need help again! I've posted this before, but I wanted to get some more input. How do you think the top is done on this dress?

pillowcase2.jpg

I was thinking maybe it was 2 casing with elastic and a small ruffle on top. :confused3 Would that work? Or do you think its shirring? And how is shirring done?

Thanks (again)!

It looks like shirring to me, probably 4-5 rows. Here's a tutorial on it: http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/06/shirred-top.html

Want to split this into posts since so many pictures. BTW, Dallas was mad I made him take off his bionicle shirt thus the look in the picture!

Here is what Dallas has been doing lately!

That is the cutest thing--I wonder if I could find something like that for DD. She has been collecting my scraps and playing "fabic store" she asks how many yards I want and uses one of her pretend phones to calculate it all--to much time at Wallyworld and Joanns I guess.

I love the overalls that you made! They are perfect. I need to take some time off the boards too. Dh was mad this morning because the laundry wa sbacked up and he very scarcastically said do you think you could do some laundry today? Men! I have sewing to do but I have done 2 loads so if I don't get anymore done today, I can at least say I did some. I have not sewed a single thing today yet!:scared1:

Haaaaa :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: I don't know about you all but I totally am!!!
I thought there was NBC fabric last year for halloween at JoAnn's. I am suprised they don't have any this year.

Alright I am off to sew now. I am not even going to go look at Volde. ;) or I will be on there all day.

I totally get the Harry Potter reference! I will refer to "the site that must not be named" from now on as "Voldemort" Maybe that should be added to the link with all of the pictures and patterns.."Voldemort" and "C.A.S.E" are two phrases(sp?) that come to mind. Any others?

Awww, thanks! My sister, Hkite, has been helping me sort it all out. It's all worth it if people find it useful! If anyone has a site that they would like added to the list, just PM me or Hkite, and if it's not there allready, we'll add it right away. I spend a lot of time scouring blogs for good stuff, but it's easy to miss things.

I saved it to my computer and tried enlarging it, and to me it looks like it is two casings with elastic, like you said. Although, it is pretty blurry when I enlarge it, so I could be wrong. Shirring would look pretty cute too! (However, I have had a bad shirring experience, so that's probably why I'm more inclined to want to believe it's the two rows of elastic!!!:lmao: )

I had one of these, too! I remember getting it for Christmas at my great-grandparents house. I may have to track one down on eBay for my DD8.:santa:

Hello ladies and Tom! (Oh wait, that's me!;) ) Thanks for including me in your posts. It really does encourage me to try to go on with making more creations!

My latest endeavor (inspired by LisaZoe's creations!):

And for a little surprise!, The back!:

PinkandBlueprincess003.jpg

It will either be a "hidden Mickey" or if she gets the princess side dirty during a meal, you can just "flip" it around and she will be "clean".;)

I made the matching hair bows too!

Also, my ruffler foot got a work out on this one! I don't think that I would have attempted something like this with out one!

Let me know what you all think!
