Ok, totally off topic here, but I just wanted to say:
Happy 13th Anniversary Heather!

Aw shucks, I got behind on this thread and missed this post. Thank you, Teresa! I'm glad you and Brian had a happy 19th anniversary as well.

 A great big to my sister, Heather, hkite, for shirring this for me, even though she was feeling really bad last week! I love you!!!!

Here's the Lilo dress that gave me the fits while I was trying to shirr it, modeled by my beautiful little daughter, Lydia Rose:

Aw, I can't beilieve I missed this one. I love you, too!!
I must say that Lydia is even more stunning in person. She is just a beautiful girl!!

yup! I am forever calling that field's fabrics "hancock's" ... I do that with the local blockbuster & "hollywood" video, too ... I don't know why, probably because they look so much alike
There does seem to be more serious seamstresses working at that field's fabrics. :) I think it's got alot to do with that field's being next door to that viking sewing center ...
Gosh, I could not work there = I'd never ever bring home any money = just fabric & sewing accessories.

I have noticed that they're much more helpful at Field's fabrics. I had a woman spend quite a bit of time trying to help me find the right thread and stabilizer to machine applique with.

It was a little top heavy

HA!! SO cute! Those costumes with the head are forever falling in their faces. DD and DS were both Thumper when they were 1 and the head kept falling over their eyes.

i was checking out the site that danicaw posted with a tutorial for a peasant blouse and i stumbled upon this:
http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/gathering-with-clear-elastic.html

its directions for gathering using clear elastic and it sounds a whole lot easier than pulling strings to gather! check it out!

I've had that bookmarked, but never read it! That is a great idea! I am going to have to try that! We bought a ruffler foot last week, but this sounds like it would give me a little more control when I want to be more exact with the ruffles!

I saw that in your links a few weeks ago, too. I didn't read it because I didn't know what clear elastic was. Then, I forgot it was there. It sounds like it's something I'll have to try!

OOOH I forgot how good you are! Jacks head please. No way I'd even think about doing his body! I haven't even attempted the Mickey heads yet! But Zeros whole body! I am tying to froce myself to try applique-ing even if I am super de duper intimidated!

Oh, You are too kind!! :cloud9:

I will work on it and post on Thursday. I think I can come up with some cute drawings.

I am gearing up for my first Mickey head. Hopefully in the next couple of days.

Well that is the petal skirt I was talking about...sorry. Thanks for adding the peasant top though!

Shouldn't you be in bed little missy???? :surfweb:

I told you you had to at least read the posts from Monday!

And, thank you for the compliments about Lydia!

Sock Monkey-

I checked out the sock monkey outfit. The NBC outfits are fun. Anybody know where you can get NBC fabric?

Here is a link to one of my fav fabric websites. They have great sock monkey fabric. It is on sale right now.

aimee! Egads thats one cool site! I like the sock monkey on pink. Or maybe blue

I just spent at least 15 minutes just looking at the fabric!

So I bookmarked that page for when I win the lottery. :cool2:

I love it so much! I am a sucker for the 30's and 40's prints. I did baby quilts for my girls and I do a lot of doll dresses with those vintage prints. I buy them from our local quilt shop though. DD has the Kit American Girl doll. So, all the clothes I make Kit go with her AG stuff.

We are going to NYC next week for a day trip. DD does not know we are going to the American Girl Store. The last time we were there she skipped the entire time! Too funny.

There were these PJs on Passions yesterday. The fabric was adorable. It was pink (flannel I think) with women doing laundry, big washers (it wasn't that little print 'laundry day') and the women had dresses on like 50s. Anyone seen any of this, I must have it! :goodvibes

hmmm not very Disney related...look a mouse! ::MickeyMo

I figured out the key to getting something done! IGNORE this board! It has been about a week since I really sat down and read and now pictures of everything I got done. I also got the house cleaned!

Shorts I made for Dallas!

the baby is only 6 months, so no pictures of her modeling it for a while.

Want to split this into posts since so many pictures. BTW, Dallas was mad I made him take off his bionicle shirt thus the look in the picture!

Here is what Dallas has been doing lately!

He is in love with it! He asked if I had a machine he could play with and I remembered I had this in the basement. It was mine when I was a kid!

check out this NBC outfit on our favorite auction site. The keywords
Christmas Nightmare CUSTOM Halloween should get you there (actually I just checked and those keywords will bring out 2 cute ones I was looking at the 1st but the 2nd is great also) Ends in just over an hour so check completed if you don't see it....

Need help again! I've posted this before, but I wanted to get some more input. How do you think the top is done on this dress?

pillowcase2.jpg

I was thinking maybe it was 2 casing with elastic and a small ruffle on top. :confused3 Would that work? Or do you think its shirring? And how is shirring done?

Thanks (again)!

That looks REALLY similar to my first sewing machine! But, mine had pink on it, and it actually used glue to sew with. I still remember the smell of that glue! It was probably toxic or something! Thanks for the memories!!! He looks like he is having fun with that!

I like the idea a lot! Might have to C.A.S.E. that one! Walmart here even had skull ones at one point if you are going to the P & P party! I think dresses are cooler than shorts, and heck they are little enough who cares about Spongie Bob underpants? If you got matching panties, it would all look like "part" of the outfit anyway!

So you've got to share...what outfit are you thinking of bidding on? I'm thinking of bidding on that Raggedy Ann one from that other seller just referred to. Unless of course you hav done a Raggedy Ann? I figure this is the last year I get to choose what my daughter will be for Halloween. I already stated last year that this year she would be Raggedy Ann. She has been a little witch, a pink fairy princess, and a peacock so far. The Peacock was hilarious. I'll have to find pictures!

After seeing a Raggedy Ann one online, i went out and bought tons of Raggedy ann fabric and I think about 10 matching fabrics for a twirl skirt. I also bought the bows, stripped socks and little wooden Raggedy ann and Andy to put in the center of the bows...I just have to assemble it all...

I think my new interest..umm..obsession with sewing and Disney customs is finally rubbing off on DD! She told me last night that she wants to be Minnie Mouse for Halloween!! Off the top of your head, does anyone know a pattern # for a dress simillar to Minnie's?
