One more thing, and I'm off to bed....I updated my little photo...cute huh?

Tell us about the skirt. Is it a twirl?

yep. just a simple one. I had some fabric in one of my tubs that was calling to me. :lmao: It is purple with little fish on it (like the Jesus symbol, and solid lighter purple fish). I am going to add a white ruffle to the bottom of it and just sew on a purple fish symbol onto a shirt. That's the plan anyway :goodvibes

Hi ladies :flower3:, Here is my Snow White set. I had alot of fun making this one and it looks great on Destiny. I love the halter style top on her. I added the skirt but I'm not to crazy about it. Let me know what you think.

Oh Lady Rob...It's just beautiful! You have become so good at the appliques! When are you going to start selling? I think the skirt is fine, but maybe needs some added color? Or maybe an apple on it? This might sound silly, but I wish I could do a Snow White outfit with that nasty witch on the butt. Wouldn't it be cute and "tongue in cheek" that the girls would sit on her nastiness all day???

You cheater...LOL. I was like, wow, she totally did a great job, and I couldn't imagine how you got her done so perfectly. Especially the face.
I love it though, and I may have to borrrow:rolleyes1 your idea.
I have some little mermaid laying around here somewhere.

Who is that MAN under your ID???????:goodvibes :goodvibes

You have a serious "crush"

Lady Rob,

Your Snow White outfit is amazing. I love it.

I almost forgot to post the shirt I finished today for DS. I used the pattern idea from several pages back. It was perfect for this shirt. He loves it - got so excited when the fabric came in the mail - what little boy doesn't love mickey *and* race cars?

mickeycars1.jpg

mickeycars2.jpg

It's getting hard to keep our trip a secret - I keep making all these clothes that I let them try on, then not actually wear, LOL!
Now to decide what to make next . . .

When you say you used the pattern idea further back, do you mean for the inset? Did you use a specific pattern to make the shirt? If so, could I get the number from you, I want to try one of these for my son.

It's adorable, and your son is a real cutie in it :)

Amie

Thank you! Was yours the Bambi skirt? I loved that, especially the blues. I thought the strips looked somewhat triangular shaped so that was what had me looking for a pattern. I guess it makes sense that the gathering at the top makes the strips look narrower at the top.

Thanks for remembering! As Heather allready replied, mine was the Bambi skirt.
This one is one of my new favs. I call the purple princess. I went crazy with the bling! I added crystals all over the patterned fabric. I also learned it is possible to put too much poof in the ruffles. :lmao: I had to put a rubberband around them to try and get them to lay down.:rotfl:

July2007119.jpg

Adorable! That looks very cute!
:rotfl2: I finally figured out that I have to walk the ENTIRE Jo-Ann's store to find all my fabric. I had completely missed a section since I thought it was only quilting fabric in this one section. Much to my surprise there were rows & rows of stuff that I had been missing. I literally go up & down most of the aisles that have fabric in it unless I can see at a glance there is nothing I want down there. Hmmm....and DH wonders why I'm gone for HOURS when I go to the fabric store. ;)

Yep, you have to look EVERYWHERE! There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the way half the fabric is arranged at our Joann's. I was looking for Cheetah print fabric the other day, and the cutter told me they didn't have any in cottons. But, I found it with the quilting fabrics.

Here's the first outfit I've done for DS. He'll be 2 when we go to WDW in February.

These are no sew!!!! Well at least for me... I got the applique off ebay.

Oh my, he looks SO cute in those!

I
I bought the purple fabric for DD and then when I went back a couple months later they had the coordinating Fabric so I got some of that yesterday.

Where did you get these fabrics? I love them!
Alright, I know this is gonna be a major repeat BUT I looked through Teresajoy's tips/techniques and what have you and tried to search the thread and I can't find any help w/ appliques. When I search it online I just get a bunch of flower appliques for quilting and stuff but I want to know how to make gorgeous appliques like the ones LadyRob used on the Snow White outfit. They look SOOO great. Can someone point me toward a tutorial or give me the rundown on the "how to" ? Thanks a bunch guys! And I was totally psyched to give you guys this twirly skirt tutorial I found but alas, when I was looking for applique stuff it was already in teresajoys links, bummer...I thought I was gonna be helpful:goodvibes
...t.

Hmm, I know I was looking at applique directions the other day. I will have to find them and bookmark them. If anyone has a link they would like added to the site, just PM me. And, of course feel free to post it on here too, even if I do have it on the site.

OH, one more thing... Has anyone seen that fabric that is blue with see thru stars on it. I am trying to find it, with no luck :( I seen it first on Ebay, in an outfit... I am pretty sure most of us seen it. TIA
I haven't seen it yet, but I keep my eyes open for it. I'll let you know if I ever find it!

Someone was saying earlier that they were looking for tigger striped fabric... Well I know it's not striped, but I bet it would work perfect with stripes, and it is too cute!

That is cute! I may hae to make something out of that!

Hi girls....I just saw, after reading some of the past posts, that I don't compliment other people's outfits. I'm sorry. I love everything that everyone posts, and I'm so glad that some folks are pulling out the old sewing machine, because they're inspired to begin sewing again. Anyway, if I'm tight fisted on the compliments, I'm sorry. I really do admire everyone's work.
Well with that being said, can I also tell you about my day...LOL.
I'm ready to kill my daughter, Well, not kill, exactly, just maybe beat her with a big spatula....:rotfl:
When I measured her waist today, she decided to stick out her stomach, and me...not paying attention, didn't notice. So needless to say, her pants, are too big in the waist and they are already finished off. She really ticks me off sometimes. I took pictures of her in the outfit, but I was ready to knock her in the head with the camera...:rotfl:
She wanted me to tell you that she designed the outfit, picked out the colors and the ribbon and chose what pattern she wanted me to use. She didn't want a girly outfit for sea world, so this is it..It's a little plain for my taste, but this is what she wanted.
264151198.jpg

She helped me make the loopy bow. In the photo, it's actually two just put near each other..it looked a little skimpy.
It turned out really cute! I love that fabric! You both did a great job!
Now why didn't I think of that!?! That would have made life so much easier. Do I even bother telling you the next dilema of that outfit? Here I go anyway....

Okay, she only had it on like 3 minutes! There was a stain on the bodice on the panel next to princess panel. Oh, no, I better go try and rinse that right away pronto. Nothing has taken it out so far. Mind you I was gently rubbing it, and a small hole began to form at the seam, not to bad though. I left it only to dry. I was going to go get some fray check, and dab from the inside. Even though it was wet my daughter decides to put it on her doll. Now we have a BIG RIP. So I had to take off most the lining, and remove that entire side piece. Fortunately I have one scrap left that's big enough. I'm going to try to piece it on with out having to completely tear it apart. Wish me luck.

Oh no! I hope you get it fixed without too many problems!

Thanks, I use a middle of the road Kenmore from Sears.

I promised DH in the past that I would not post pics of Destiny on the internet but he has agreed to let me post here. So here she is!

Poster2.jpg

Oh my gosh!!! The outfit and Destiny are both gorgeous! I love this set!!! Your daughter is so cute!

Unfortunately, I'm not as talented as all of the ladies on here, so I have turned to Ebay to fuel my addiction of custom clothes. We'll be celebrating my dd's 5th birthday while we're at Disney in September and we'll be have lunch at Crystal Palace, so I bought this for her. Now to find something for my youngest dd to wear.

(sorry for the mustache :) she had chocolate milk to drink right before the picture was taken)

And here are the hair bows:

Aww, how cute! The outfit and your model!

I'm not sure what's missing. :confused3 I guess it just looks so plain compared to the Minnie version.

Princess? Huh, maybe once she's past the terrible twos. Right now, this is more her style. :rotfl:

HPIM0381-1.jpg

I like it! How cute!

I finally have something girly to add. lol

I made this for our friend's little girl. She just turned 2 and she is going to WDW in Sept. too.

I made it too narrow so I added the lacey inset on the back, I hope it will work for her.

minniedress.jpg

Great job, it's really cute. I like the lace!
Last ones for tonight and I am off to bed. (insert sleeping smilie here)

I love it! I have this pattern but am afraid to try it. I have fabrics for 5 different shirts so I hope it's not too bad. It looks so great with the checks & racecars!

Wow! I *really* like this. So far, I've been sewing customs only for my little girl for fear that my twin boys would look too girly in custom clothing. This looks really sharp. I may have to sew something for them now!

I must be an idiot.

First, I know that a lot of people may need to actually see what I'm talking about rather than just reading about it. But I really hope that someone can help me.

I was trying to make a pair of shorts. The pattern told me to fold the fabric in half with the selvages together. Piece 13 is the back, and they told me to lay in on the fold so that the crotch is pointing away from the fold.

The pattern then told me to lay piece 12, which is the front, along the selvage with the crotch pointing away from the selvage.

So, I have 1 big piece with 2 "J" on either side, and 2 smaller pieces, also forming a "J". With me?!?

The only way I could figure out how to attach them is to actually make the "back" piece one of the side pieces!!! But that piece is actually bigger than the other 2 pieces, because it is for the backside!!! I ended up cutting one of the legs because it was so much bigger than the other.

AGH!!!

I'm ready to cry, this is frustrating, I don't know anyone who knows how to sew to show me. But most of all, I just bought lots and lots of fabric and misc. stuff, which I guess I better just return, because it was actually quite a bit of money - what a waste of time! I am SO disapointed!! :sad1:

Don't give up! I have to read and re-read patterns. I have only used one 3x and often have to cut something 2x, spend 20 minutes figuring out what a sewing term means, etc. Lik selvage, I have no idea, now maybe if I was readng it i could figure it out. Shorts are trickier, I just did a pair last week, I skipped the hard part though (pattern) and just disected a pair of my sons to figure out what to do!

Hi ladies :flower3:, Here is my Snow White set. I had alot of fun making this one and it looks great on Destiny. I love the halter style top on her. I added the skirt but I'm not to crazy about it. Let me know what you think.

i love destiny's new snow white outfit. shes my fave of princesses! did you have someone do the appilques or did you brave them? i love the skirt, but maybe your thinking that its not snow's colors??? maybe red tull, cause skirt is blue and shirt is yellow and her other main color is red. i wouldnt have thought of it either if i were making it because as ive said before i grew up "garanimal" style and clothes had to match!:rotfl: throw some red tulle up against it and see what you think!

Can someone help me with rick-rack?

I made my daughter an outfit last night that I love. I'm thinking about adding some rick-rack accents along the hem and the bodice.

This is a wearable outfit - will the rick-rack curl when I wash it? If it does, can it be ironed/starched back into submission? I love spray starch when ironing. It flattens out anything!

BTW, I have to thank all of you - I haven't touched my sewing machine in 6 months, but in the last week I've made 3 t-shirt dresses and this shorts set.

Deb

Here's my first attempt at ruffled jeans. I have to say they were pretty easy! I'm thinking about actually turning this into a Donald Duck outfit. When I was kid I remember the song M-I-C-K-E-Y- M-O-U-S-E, and Donald would butt in with his name. All the faint mickeys just reminded me of that, plus it's the right colors for him!
July2007001.jpg

Now she can twirl a top! Just can't seem to get lift off with the skirts yet!
July2007008.jpg

Here's a close up of the fabric. I got it at joanns. It would for great for boys shirt or accent for a man's shirt for those of you looking for boy stuff.

I love this! Nice Job!!!!:goodvibes

I made this for my son yesterday

IMG_4854.jpg

I got the BUzz fabric at Hobby Lobby and I am going to make another romper for my son
IMG_4852.jpg

JoAnn's had this adorable Mickey halloween print so I am going to make trick-or-treat bags for the kids out of it. Along with the Boo fabric. I wish we were going to the MNSSHP.
IMG_4851.jpg

I bought the swirly Mickey fabric at Joann's a couple months ago. So yesterday I went back to find another fabric to pair it with and tone down the bright green and they had this matching teal green with the Disney fabrics. They match perfectly. They had lots of solid colors to coordinate and they had some of that really big polka dot stuff with Mickey and Minnie.

IMG_4850.jpg

Cool Fabric! Some of this I haven't seen! I wish I had more places to shop for
facric!!!

Lots of Sewing projects but I have to do housework because I am hosting a scrapbooking party tomorrow.

Good luck with your scrapbook party! I am an avid scrapbooker!

Love all the recent outfits! I don't have enough time to go back and respond directly.

Thanks for fueling my fabric obsession!!! DH just laughs when I tell him"You'll never believe the fabric I saw today!!!" LOL!:goodvibes

I know it seems like a freaky pattern, but just trust the instructions. The piece that is so much longer is the piece that goes over your bottom. The short end of the J is the piece that goes between your legs.

Don't try to understand the pattern, just do it. I threw away 2 pairs of shorts when I tried to make them, so you aren't alone.

Be strong!! "You can make this!"

My project for today
Princess hair clippies that my daughter will never wear. They are matching sets, the other sides are still drying. I am trying to get all of my projects done so I can get rid of all of the piles of stuff in my house.:thumbsup2
ebay207.jpg

Those are Fab!!! I know a little girl that would love these... I think I'll not show them to her until I can figure out how to make them!!! LOL!

NIce Job!
