I just wanted to let everyone know that Childrens Place has the sparkle denim jeans on sale for $2.99! I was shocked when I checked out tonight, the tag said $7.99 but they rang up only $2.99

What a great find! I just bought 2 pair on Tuesday for $7.99 each and thought I was getting a steal.

Everyday, I'm feeling better and better. I almost feel like the dancing banana...:rotfl:
Have you noticed that the tag fairy doesn't come to visit us on the sewing board?:confused3 What gives?
This should be my tag....Would cruise naked if I had to...:rotfl:
Or how about " Eats dry cereal out of a coffee mug" :rotfl:
"Drinks Dr. Pepper for breakfast"
See, there is lots to know about a girl...LOL
That's true! This is a pretty long thread, with lots of "ammunition" for tags!!! :rotfl2:

Last ones for tonight and I am off to bed. (insert sleeping smilie here)

Thanks, I use a middle of the road Kenmore from Sears.

I promised DH in the past that I would not post pics of Destiny on the internet but he has agreed to let me post here. So here she is!

Your Snow White outfit is amazing! It looks so flattering on your daughter. She is sooo beautiful!

Ok, not sure if I'll be any help or not, but I'll give it a shot - whenever I've made shorts or pants, I believe almost every pattern I've used calls for 4 pieces - 2 back pieces and 2 front pieces, all cut from the two pattern pieces. Usually, if you read the acutal pattern piece, it will say, for example "BACK - cut 2 of fabric" or something similar. Generally when they want you to place on the fold, it will say "Cut one on fold."

I bet you're right. I have made several pairs of pajama pants recently and they're always 4 fabric pieces, made from two pattern pieces, with one of the pattern pieces placed along the fold, but not *on* the fold. They were my first attempt at following a pattern for 15+ years and I was sort of confused about how to lay out the pattern, too... and I ended up calling my mom and asking if I was supposed to actually put it *on* the fold or near the fold.

I know I am supposed to be heading to bed, but I couldn't resist...

How about Brent's wife ;)
Mine would have to be fabric glue is my friend!:thumbsup2

Good night, all!

I must be an idiot.

First, I know that a lot of people may need to actually see what I'm talking about rather than just reading about it. But I really hope that someone can help me.

I was trying to make a pair of shorts. The pattern told me to fold the fabric in half with the selvages together. Piece 13 is the back, and they told me to lay in on the fold so that the crotch is pointing away from the fold.

The pattern then told me to lay piece 12, which is the front, along the selvage with the crotch pointing away from the selvage.

So, I have 1 big piece with 2 "J" on either side, and 2 smaller pieces, also forming a "J". With me?!?

The only way I could figure out how to attach them is to actually make the "back" piece one of the side pieces!!! But that piece is actually bigger than the other 2 pieces, because it is for the backside!!! I ended up cutting one of the legs because it was so much bigger than the other.

AGH!!!

I'm ready to cry, this is frustrating, I don't know anyone who knows how to sew to show me. But most of all, I just bought lots and lots of fabric and misc. stuff, which I guess I better just return, because it was actually quite a bit of money - what a waste of time! I am SO disapointed!! :sad1:

:grouphug: Don't cry, sometimes the language they write those things in is so darn confusing!

I don't know if I can help you with out being there. You could take the fabric and the pattern up to the fabric store and ask one of the ladies there what you are doing wrong.

Sometimes stores that sell sewing machines have classes in sewing also. They might be willing to help.

Sewing the crotch in shorts is tricky you have to turn them a funny way sometimes. I have no idea how to explain it though. It might help to look at a pair of already sewn pants or shorts.

:grouphug: Don't worry you will figure it out!!

Wow, everyone is doing some great sewing! Well that Snow white outfit is to die for!
Anywho! I am off to DW in the morning for a 7 day trip at the poly! When I get back there is going to be a huge huge huge amount of posts I am sure! Can not wait and I hope you all have great things to share! I will post all my pics of the girl's custom outfits whe nI get back!
See ya ladies and keep up the good sewing!

Before I even attemped the sewing much earlier tonight, I was actually sitting in my dining room on the floor looking "down there" at my shorts to see how they were put together! Glad no one walked in on me!!

I almost forgot to post the shirt I finished today for DS. I used the pattern idea from several pages back. It was perfect for this shirt. He loves it - got so excited when the fabric came in the mail - what little boy doesn't love mickey *and* race cars?

It's getting hard to keep our trip a secret - I keep making all these clothes that I let them try on, then not actually wear, LOL!
Now to decide what to make next . . .

It sounds like maybe you need to cut that back piece in half along the non-crotch side? I'm pretty visual, so I'm not exactly sure. Hope I helped a little. Good luck - don't give up! You'll get the hang of it!

After reading your email, I went back and re-read the instructions AGAIN, I've lost track of how many times I have read them. I would have put money down that they did not instruct me to cut the fabric in half, or not place it exactly on the fold, but to cut around the pattern NEAR the fold.

Then, I looked at the pattern again.....it DOES say "Cut 2". That's it. If I am cutting near the selvage, then I am automatically cutting 2. But if I am cutting on the fold, like the directions told me, then I am just cutting 1 pc.

Is it me, or does the fact that I am buying a pattern called Sewing for Dummies in the first place imply I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING!?!?! I am teaching myself!!!!

Thank you all for your :grouphug: and words of encouragement. That kinda knocked the wind out of my sails so I am going to bed. Tomorrow I have to clean the house up a bit before a birthday/slumber party for my 8 y.o.

I will try again on Sunday, using my new knowledge...Thanks SO much!!! I really appreciate you ladies!!!!

Nice work! I love the fabric! Was this hard to make?

Thanks so much! I'm having the best time sewing for the kidlets! This shirt really wasn't hard! If you sew/follow patterns, this shouldn't be too bad!

Tell us about the skirt. Is it a twirl?

Is a coffee mug *not* an acceptable vessel for cereal?! :confused3 :lmao:
I was with you until Dr. Pepper for breakfast -- ick. I'm ont a fan. ETA: Just a minute... maybe the only one I'm "with you on" is the coffee mug. LOL! I just noticed the cruise naked part. No thanks (you can all thank me too, because believe me, you don't wanna see too much of this! LOL!)

Of course, mine could be "if you've been up for an hour, it's time for lunch." I'm not a big fan of breakfast foods in general. (Someone remind me why we always go to character breakfasts instead of lunches/dinners?!)

How about "went crazy with the seam ripper."

Used seam ripper as dangerous weapon...
Assulted innocent piece of fabric....
Guilty of spending too much time on computer....:rotfl: That would be me...
Has eaten a jello cup with her finger...:rolleyes1 don't ask..I forgot my spoon in the car...yes.,.in the car..:rotfl2:

Brent's future wife... Hey I like the sound of that...

I don't even turn my computer off during the day anymore, I leave the laptop near the sewing machine...LOL
