Just looking at this map of Kidani Village and Jambo House relative to each other:

DAKVMap.jpg

Is there any information on the distance between the lobby of Kidani village (I assume is the middle of the 'reverse 3') and the farthest parts of either end? Comparing it to Jambo House, where I thought it was a fair walk to each end of the "X" from the lobby, and the Kidani distance (in the picture) looks to be close to twice as long from the lobby to either end.

I heard that parking will be underneath the hotel - is there any word on if you would be able to park close to either end/wing and then go directly up via elevator to a wing? Or would you have to park underground, walk to a central set of stairs or elevator, and the potentially walk the distance to a room?

If you use the very front door of Jambo as a starting point, I think the distance from the Jambo entrance to the furthest guest room is about the same as the Kidani lobby to furthest room. The Kidani walk may be a little bit longer, but not much.

The real trek will be between the two buildings. That's shaping up to be nearly a mile, IIRC.

This is just a guess, but I suspect all of the underground parking will be for the valet staff. And since valet is free for members, most people will probably choose that option.

You can also see spaces outside and that's probably the self-parking area.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the map for the first time. That is one long hike if you go from the far end of Kidani to Bomas. you will have to stop for a snack on the way.

Obviously WHERE your villa is in Kidani will have a lot to do with how far your walk will be to the Jambo house main area. If you are on the near end, it could actually be closer than walking from one end of Jambo to the lobby. Now if you are on the far end (top on the map) of Kidani, you definitely will get your excersise going to Jambo main areas! On the other hand, Kidani will have its own restaurant too, so maybe there wont be much need to go between the two.

Maybe they will have a tram to bring us to and from each resort!!:rotfl:
(Thats not really a bad idea....what do you all think?)

They could do a tram or they could use the DTD bus as an internal shuttle like the do at OKW. The DTD bus at OKW stops at the HH both first and last (and switches it's name to internal temporarily). The same thing could happen at AKL/AKV. It could stop at JH then travel to KV then return to JH before going to DTD/TL area. The DTD busses are normally not very full so having them serve double duty makes sense.

While on our trip this past week we were thinking of the same things. If you are staying in Jambo House, it is going to be quite a trek over to the new pool area at Kidani Village.

From the AKL FAQ:

Will the two buildings be in walking distance from each other?

Yes, there is an outdoor walking path between the two buildings (approx. 2,500-foot walk from the porte cochere of one building to the other).

A bit less than 1/2 mile, from lobby entrance to lobby entrance, one way.

Oddly enough...on the new DVC promotional video and in the video posted on Time Warner digital package that has Disney Travel on Demand...the plans of Kidani Village are Connected by a small building in between Jambo House and the end of the new building. I cannot find the same plans on-line...but in the video, they are clearly connected to one another!!:thumbsup2

Thanks. Must have been thinking round-trip.

Still, at 1 to 1.5 miles round-trip (depending upon room location), dining at Boma or Jiko is going to be an even bigger event than it is now. :)

Hopefully they'll have a sensible bus loop for those rainy days when walking isn't practical. Waiting for the Downtown Disney bus (which seems to run on the half-hour at best most of the day) will be torture for most.

After reading about the AKV distances, the BWV hallways don't seem so bad.

LOL, so what would Richyams have to say about AKV? I suspect i can write the scenario:

LOOOOOOng dark hallways with cave darkness in the rooms and tiny kitchens. Of course, he would be hard pressed to give a bad critique of the GVs,since they would have that game room in them. Since Richy only stayed in GVs, I'm sure he would like that part!:rotfl:

Kidani will have Sanaa; which is the name of the new sit down restaurant. I'm hopeful the store (Johari Treasures) inside the lobby at Kidani Village will have a grab and go area so we don't have to walk all the way over to the Mara for quick service breakfast.

As someone who always felt the need for a good long walk after a meal at Boma, I'll be only too happy to make the trek back to Kidani! :cool1: I just wish the walk could be a bit more scenic than I'm expecting (sidewalks and hallways).

Isn't that what the animals are for? I bet riding a giraffe at full speed would get you there in about 30 seconds :)

I am sure that the trek from the Jambo House Lobby to the Kidani Lobby will be a long one. However, due to Florida's rainy, and often swealtering weather, it stands to reason that the section of Kidani that is close to Jambo will have an entrance that will allow you to walk the majority of that distance in climate controlled comfort. It amazes me that people will walk 7 miles a day in the parks and then complain about long hallways.

Present company excepted of course:)
