My DW and I are going on the Keys to the Kingdom tour on our upcoming trip. Does anyone know if it is expected/allowed to tip your tour guide? What about the restaurant at lunch? Is tipping covered in the price of the tour?
We went on the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot last fall. My husband tried to tip the tour guide, but he very politely refused, saying that the guides are not allowed to accept tips.
Messy, the tour guides are not allowed to accept tips. If you publicly offer one they will have to turn you down. However, I think it's a very fair thing to do, so if you would like to, I'd have something in a small envelope to hand to her or him after the tour -- if you truly enjoy the tour and their efforts -- and do it as privately as possible.
I wouldn't say, "Here's something for you ..."
Instead, maybe something like, "Here's a 'thank you' card that we give to all the cast members who do something nice for us on vacation. You can open it later. Thanks!"
Your meal is at a counter-service restaurant, so no worries about tipping there. I hope you have an excellent time!
Thanks, Mike. That's a big help. I feel kind of fuzzy inside that you answered my post (fuzzy in a good way). This is as much celebrity hobnobbing as I've enjoyed since we met Donald in front of the castle.
