Keys to the Kingdom or Backstage Magic?

We are interested in the logistics of Disney World. How do they handle the trash? Do they have their own electric plant? Water treatment? How does imagineering work? You get the idea. Would the $60 Keys to the Kingdom tour that just covers the Magic Kingdom satisfy us or should we go for the $200 Backstage Magic tour at three parks? I sure would like to save the $280 for two people! But I want to make sure we get more than a tour of the Hidden Mickeys and a quick trip through the utilidors. Could I ask questions about trash and electricity and imagineers?

Thanks y'all!! Less than 10 weeks till Disney World!! Woo-hoo!!

Don't know if you've seen this but you can read about the various tours as well as individual trip reports on "Deb's Site"
Hope this helps answer a few of your questions.

I've been on both tours and I'd say the answer depends on you. Is this your first trip or have you been there a gadzillion times? If you're a relative newbie, 7+ hours of how WDW works may be overkill. KttK is shorter, cheaper, and gives you a taste. Your guide on KttK will also go over some of your questions posed. I'd suggest starting with KttK. If you like it, go for the BM on your next trip.

We took the KTTK tour and I thought we got lots of details on the inner working of the MK with trips into the utilidors, but also backstage to what I would guess is almost every area of the inner workings of the MK from the garbage to the parade floats. I thought it really gave a lot of details regarding how the MK operates on a day to day basis.

We really enjoyed it and they encourage you to ask questions! The more you ask, the more interesting the tour is for everyone. While it does have a time limit, as our guide told us...it can be an 1/2 shorter or an hour longer depending on how many questions you care to ask.

If I were you, I'd give it a shot first. I don't think you'd be disappointed at all.

We are interested in doing Keys to the Kingdom. Does anyone know what the maximum size of the group is? I am hoping it is a fairly small group.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for the responses! It sounds like a KttK would be the way to go, especially since we can ask a few questions. It will most likely give us the experience we are looking for and we can save the rest of the money for La Nouba ! Thanks again. I love this board!

We are doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour in July! I would be happy to post about it when we get back.

We did the KttK tour in February and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd do it again in a few years. We had 17 people, including our guide (Robin), and I'd guess they keep the groups to about that many or fewer. It seems like it would be hard for the guide to maneuver with many more than that. She walked backwards most of the time so she could speak to us. We had to signal to her when she needed to move left, right, or stop.

When in July - I am choosing between the 13th and 14th. It will be my first solo trip.

Also, I am beginning to be concerned about this tour during the summer. Anyone ever done it in the heat and have any problems or comments to share?

Thanks
Sandy
