Keurig coffee maker:I'm done with it!

Any mechanical issues aside, I've always found the amount of coffee/tea/cocoa in the K-cups to be way too little for anyone who likes stronger beverages.

They installed a multi-user Keurig at the bookstore where I worked a few months before I left, and sold the K-cups at the registers. Even on the 4-oz. size, the hot chocolate was so weak it was basically brown water! Yecch!

Then that tells me that the kcups that were being used were of a milder blend. There are dozens of varieties out there - some very strong and they absolutely do make a strong cup of coffee. I tend to like a medium to strong blend myself and it's taken me a while to get to those that I like best in both flavor and strength.

I've had mine for 4 years and I make at least 4 cups of coffee every day and it's still working fine.

To the person who said they don't like the flavors of the K-Cups. You can use your own coffee in http://www.keurig.com/accessories/my-k-cup

There are hundreds of K-cups available. It took me awhile to find the ones I prefer.
I've got a "My K-cup", and I guess I'll use it if I only want one cup, but usually I just go for 2 cups and use my percolator. I still get better/stronger coffee from the percolator.
I use well water and mine works great :rolleyes1 Never knew I was supposed to use bottled water. :confused3 But it's going on 2 years old and has never stopped working for a second. Guess I'm lucky!
Yikes. I have well water too, and had no idea I was supposed to use bottled water. :confused3 I try to use as little bottled water as possible, like only if I'm leaving the house...with a bottle of water.

Are there stronger versions of hot chocolate? What I've been doing for hot chocolate is getting hot water from the Keurig and tearing open the old fashion Swiss Miss packet and adding it afterward.

BTW, we just have the little, one cup water well one that usually sells for about $100. Got it at Kohls for $70. Seems like the other bigger versions are the ones having most of the problems?

After reading and posting on this thread yesterday, I went ahead and called Keurig customer service. I had a very pleasant woman on the line that listened to my issues and then walked me through the "needle cleaning" process. When she told me to run a water brew, the machine turned off. She then told me that she would send me a new one! I have to return the K-cup holder to them!

What GREAT customer service!

I have one of the bigger ones and haven't had any problems with mine. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure about well water. I do know that hard water isn't good for them. Here's the FAQ that I found pretty informative:

My well water is pretty hard...but even if it dies tomorrow (which I doubt since it's going strong as of an hour ago) it was well worth the money spent for two years of coffee! Anything is better than making coffee the "normal" way....I seriously hated that!

I don't know about the hot chocolate. I've been trying just the coffee kcups and it's been hit or miss getting to the right kcups that work for my preferences. As much as I like the idea of some of the flavored coffees, the strength just isn't there for me. Maybe someone else will chime in on the hot chocolate brands.

We bought one of the cups that you can put your own coffee in, as we were visiting a hotel that had Keurig in the rooms. We wanted to brew our own favorite coffee.

You can brew your own coffee, not just the limited and expensive K-cups.

But, be careful...
This was supposed to be an actual Keurig cup, (not a cheap copycat) and it did NOT fit the machine. When DH was having problems with it, I  and went and looked at it myself. I am more inclined in this kind of thing... We tryed over and over again... We could find no way to fit the cup into the machine where it didn't stick up to far, so that you could not shut the door down.

That's what I have. At first, I didn't get it in right either, but it fits and works fine.
