Keurig coffee maker:I'm done with it!

Someone please explain to me what I'm missing out on with the whole Keurig thing!

It just gives you the ability to make a cup of coffee instantly, and it is very good quality. DW and I use ours a lot during the week getting ready for work because you can literally have a cup in 30 seconds. Plus, you don't waste a half a pot like with a conventional system. I scoffed at them for a long time, but now cannot imagine not having it.

Nope...no hot chocolate...And I descale it often since the water around here is pretty hard....I hear a lot of people have issues with this model.....DO NOT ask me which one, I'll have to look it up.;)

That might be the issue then :( Even if you descale it a lot, you are supposed to use bottled water unless you have an additional filter that you use.

I had a problem with my first one. It would act like it was going to brew and then not. I could take the water reservoir off dump the water, add new water and put it back on and it would work.
I called them and a new one was at my doorstep a couple days later. I did not have my receipt, box or anything. It was not a problem.

sad-seems like the quality has gone downhill maybe? We've had ours for 3 or 4 years and haven't had any issues (knock on wood).

same here, we have had ours for the same amount of time and never had an issue :confused3

I've gone through 3 Platinums in 2 years. My old b40 works like a charm! I love the keurig but not the quality.

That's why I bought the Cuisinart version of it. Better build quality.

When you make a latte or cappucino you use 2 discs, a milk disk then the coffee disc. You just put the milk disc in the same way, each disc has a bar code that the Tassimo senses and knows exactly what it is and what to do. After the milk disc has run through, pop in the coffee disc and voila!

OMG, that's awesome! I'm definitely going to look into this more. Thanks! :goodvibes

Sorry you apparently got a dud. I've had mine for 2 years, almost never clean it and use it every single day and it has never once not worked. :confused3

It's actually a very common problem unfortunately. I am on my 3rd Keurig.

Mine started turning itself off and I called Keurig and they sent me a new one. They told me they really can't be fixed and that is why they replace them.

my Keurig is out in the trash bin. I so appreciate all the posts with remedies, but the truth is,I find this to be way too much maintenance for a single cup of coffee that may or may not be brewed! I wish you all luck in your brewing! lol

That's a lot of money to lose on a one-year old appliance. I would probably have contacted Keurig first, and asked for a replacement. You could at least sell the new one if you didn't want to keep it.

Me and my neighbor have both had problems with ours.

I love it..but it really is beginning to be a pain. Like you said...sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. It will heat the water and ACT like it's going to brew, but nothing comes out...or it will brew too little for the chosen cup size or a few times...it never STOPPED brewing:scared1:(well...until I got my head together and turned it off)

My neighbor's stopped brewing all together.

We both registered them through Keurig. She has sent hers back twice now...the first time they said they repaired it, but it started having problems again...The second time, they sent her a new one.

I can't find my papperwork...or I would have sent mine back already.

Same thing happened to me but after speaking with Keurig support, they told me how to clean the 'needle' which can get clogged with coffee grounds. Now I never have a problem. I also clean it every 3 months with the vinegar.
It needs cleaning and maintenance and it will be fine.

We don't have one. We use a pod type machine & I make our own pods with whatever coffee we like. Cheaper too & I can make the pods ahead & store them.

While visiting DMIL, she tried making coffee in her Kuering for DH but it wasn't working. DH messed around with it & finally got it working. She said it was pretty new too & hadn't used it much.

Timely thread... my beloved Platinum just kicked the bucket out of the blue on Saturday. Was SO mad. It just kept making the sound it usually does when you turn it on, right before it starts sucking up water from the reservoir, but it just kept making that sound and then would shut itself totally off.

My unit is a hair over a year old. I steeled myself to call customer service and was all prepared to have an argument over it. But I have to say -- that was THE most hassle-free, pleasant customer service call I think I've ever made. I told her what was going on, held the phone up to the machine so she could hear the noise it was making, and she said "No problem, we're going to send you a new one out at no charge." DS just called me and said that it's waiting on my front porch. :goodvibes

I haven't had any problems until now, and hopefully won't for another long while. But I sure wish other companies had such PIA-free customer service!

Love mine too. I've had it for 2 years and other than a little cleaning I've never done anything to it.

One of the reasons I bought it was that I had owned 2 Cuisinart coffeemakers and both of them bit the dust in a year. I got zero customer service from that company with them and I was DONE. I knew people who had issues with the Kuerig had no problems with customer service and that alone helped make my decision.

Mine works, but it has a very quirky sense of how much coffee to make. I choose the large size cup, then get less than an inch of coffee in the mug. So I open the k-cup holder, close it again, reselect the large cup size, and it fills the rest of the cup. Weird, but I've gotten used to it!

I clean mine, too, and religiously descale and they still don't last. The last one leaked water from under the machine. Even the Keurig rep I last spoke to admitted that the design is flawed.

Here's another shout out for my Tassimo too. I've had mine 3+ years and it's still going strong. I was disappointed that Starbucks jumped ship for Keurig, but Tassimo has some good coffees and I love the fact that I can make cappuccino, latte and macchiatos. There is also a Chai Tea Latte. :thumbsup2

We've had ours about a year. At one point it did stop working - or rather, it would work sporadically. It would go through the motions but no coffee would come out. Then at one point it stopped working entirely. Strangely enough, it always happened when I to use Caribou's Obsideon k-cups. It was when Obsideon was new to the market and I honestly thought there was something wrong with the design of that kcup in that batch that was preventing the Keurig to work properly. We read the manual and went through the steps to descale and it's been working great since (knock on wood). Even if it dies again, I'm sticking with it - I have too many kcups now and I'm so hooked on the machine. Although, I'll be honest, I could get talked into a Cuisanart machine as well.

Same here. Ours works great! We bought MIL one and hers malfunctioned the last time we were there. It turns out that MIL had been using tap water in her Keurig instead of purified. :rolleyes1

I use well water and mine works great :rolleyes1 Never knew I was supposed to use bottled water. :confused3 But it's going on 2 years old and has never stopped working for a second. Guess I'm lucky!
