I keep the Disney magic alive by adopting and adapting Oprah's suggestion for a "random act of kindness". Each year, I purchase 100 Disney dollars (with Mickey on them, of course). If I am in a restaurant or a
DIsney Store and I see young kids behaving exceptionally well - I'll give the adult with them, the Disney dollar, for that child. In the alternative, if a child is noticably having a "bad hair day", I also give a dollar - you should see how they brighten up! I do this at the Disney parks as well. Most of the bills I have written on say "A random act of kindness" - so if you get a bill like that, we've met, in a way!
I've met a lot of interesting people doing this. And the reward for me, is the smiles on the kids (& parents) faces. A small note however, I never give the Disney dollars directly to the child, only to the accompanying adult. So as not to cause any worry. I have only been turned down once - the adult told me their religion did not allow them to accept or acknowledge Mickey Mouse.
This Halloween I'll be continuing my practice - it will be a great time for all, and, at least, the Disney dollars don't promote tooth decay!
