We like to help keep the magic alive when we are at Disney (and other places).

We are trying to think of special thigs to do for others while at the parks.

We already do the assisting with taking pictures for someone and just being friendly and respectful.

What are things you do for others?

There was a thread a while ago about people giving away a fass pass or two if they couldn't use them. :D

We try to be as helpful as possible, if someone ask us a question we answer it to the best of our abilities, and if we just don't know the answer we will direct them to the nearest CM.

Also if the bus is crowed and someone elderly gets one, get up and offer them the seat. I can't believe all the people who won't do this. :(
Also on the Disney buses the bench style seats up front have signs above them saying that they are for the elderly and handicapped, and people will tell their children to just sit there (and the parents sit with them). I guess they don't want to walk a few spaces to another seat.
The problem with that is, when someone elderly or handicpped gets on they don't offer to move. :(

We have did the fast pass give away.

We were able to buy some glow bracelets really cheap the other day. There are 100 in a tube. We are thinking about giving DD (5) a few a day and allowing her to share them with another child.

We do that! This last time I got 300 on ebay and we still have most of them. I like it when I stumble across a child who wants something from the glow carts but the parent is telling them no, I ask if I can give the child a few to make a necklace and the look on the kids faces is great!:teeth:

we always give away fast passes and are the first to give up our seats on buses.

we also brought an i-zone camera with us. it takes a mini-polaroid picture. when a child gets a little cranky in line - we would snap their picture and it would totally occupy them for the 5 minutes while it developed! (something for the child and something for the tired parents! heheh)

and seeing little girls in their princess costumes always gets me smilin'!

also - speaking as a former bride - when you see brides and grooms walking around - congratulate them - it's very sweet. we had CMs and other guests coming up and congratulating us during our whole trip.

I really think that we all should should take responsibility in keeping the magic.

I keep trying to think up new creative things.

On any given day, you'll find cranky tired people........so simply remembering our manners and being kind at these times is a true gift we can give ourselves and others!

Hold a door open for someone clearly capable of doing it him/herself.

Smile at a stranger.

Offer someone to go ahead of you in line.

Be quick to tell of a park secret or share a hidden mickey to bring a little magic back if you see it fading for someone.

A quiet word of encouragement if you notice someone in need.

Offer to take group pictures for people. If I see a child or adult has dropped something (like a hat), I'll pick it up and return it to them. If I see a person(s) that look lost, I'll ask if they need help finding somewhere. If an older person needs a seat or a hand, I'll offer to help. If I see a parent with a little one on a bus/boat/monorail, I'll offer up my seat. If a child starts talking to me either waiting for a parade or on a bus/boat/monorail, I'll talk back to them, compliment their outfit, ask them what their favorite character is, and so on. :earsgirl:  :jester:

I enjoy engaging the CM's in conversation, asking them lots of questions (and not where is the nearest reastroom nor time of the 3 PM parade :)) and take their pictures. And include the housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage and custodial folks too. I like to pass out a few What Would Walt Do pins each trip to those who do a real special job. They all do, some times though there are standouts. WDW and DL just put you in a mood to try and be nice, don't they??

Dan,

I think you made a great point. I am going to remember the CM's this trip.

Great pins. I never saw them before.

Glow Carts?! That sounds cool. I'll be taking my boys to Disney for the first time next year, I can't wait to see all the neat stuff!

Dan this is something I wanted to do but a few of the CM's on the board said they are not allowed to wear them. I think that is disappointing.

One thing I do is buy a whole bunch of dollar store party favors (minnie rubic cubes, number puzzles, bubbles, etc.) I carry them in my backpack for my DD8 but than we give out the majority of them as the day goes on to cranky children and refill with new ones for the next day.

I don't have anything to add right now, but I think this is a great thread. Keep it up, y'all!:)

I keep the Disney magic alive by adopting and adapting Oprah's suggestion for a "random act of kindness". Each year, I purchase 100 Disney dollars (with Mickey on them, of course). If I am in a restaurant or a DIsney Store and I see young kids behaving exceptionally well - I'll give the adult with them, the Disney dollar, for that child. In the alternative, if a child is noticably having a "bad hair day", I also give a dollar - you should see how they brighten up! I do this at the Disney parks as well. Most of the bills I have written on say "A random act of kindness" - so if you get a bill like that, we've met, in a way!

I've met a lot of interesting people doing this. And the reward for me, is the smiles on the kids (& parents) faces. A small note however, I never give the Disney dollars directly to the child, only to the accompanying adult. So as not to cause any worry. I have only been turned down once - the adult told me their religion did not allow them to accept or acknowledge Mickey Mouse.

This Halloween I'll be continuing my practice - it will be a great time for all, and, at least, the Disney dollars don't promote tooth decay!

We got a lot of Disney Pins for cheap at the Disney Store and I give them out to WELL-BEHAVED children at the world...

They are becoming rare (the well-behaved children---not the pins) When they ask why...I say "Becuase you are being sooo good today and I want you to know that" I ask the parents first.

the smile I get are the best.:teeth:
