Kayak.com (what's Hacker fare???)

Thanks for the poster who gave great insight on using kayak.com for airfares. When I am searching it is saying United/Jetblue and hacker fare. :confused3 We want to travel jetblue only. Don't know why it's mentioning united and have no idea what hacker fare is. Thanks
 
A hacker fare is a round trip made up from two one way fares on different airlines. So going is on airline A and the return is on airline B. Kayak says the round trip with a hacker fare they show will be a discount on the round trip fare on a single airline. The potential drawbacks can be the flight times and more importantly you can be on an airline you might normally not want to fly.
 
You can narrow the search results by unchecking options in the left sidebar, such as the box for United or the box for multiple airlines. That should eliminate the hacker fare results you are seeing.
