and it's good to hear (and see in the pic) she seems to have enjoyed the parade, because her personality during the local TV interview was really low key. It didn't look like she was having much fun at all.

I just saw Kate's tweet from earlier. she mentions her hat being maybe too much. there are feathers. could be interesting.

I live here. (not in Louisville) This is my favorite week of the year! Love Derby!!

PS. her personality during the interview was similar to what I saw when she spoke here a couple of years ago -- it's just flat. very different than what is shown when she's on TV, IMO. She's just not a bubbly person, I guess.

and as a side note, anyone who knows me from earlier JK8 threads -- this is the first time I've done any following of Kate since the new show started. It's really kind of strange after all this time, I'm a little (ok, a LOT) taken aback at how intense the feelings still are. I tweeted something (very benign ) about Kate/Derby and immediately got a response and new followers. Creepy.

I have to laugh at this because after an afternoon of my DH watching westerns all day my first thought was saloon girl

"Miss Kitty please meet Miss Katie"

the whole look was too much for the Derby, IMO. That was an evening look --for an after-Derby party? Awesome. Her figure is stunning. But Kate's certainly not alone in her choice of dress/hat. (Jennifer Tilly's dress looked like a set of bad drapes, and her fascinator appeared to have some sort of snake (fake) coming out of the top of it ) There are always many fashion don'ts -- and they're the ones that always get talked about, as usual.

I don't know if the national entertainment media (People, Us, Access Hollywood, etc) carried much of Kate's visit, but outside of the obligatory red carpet sound bite going into the Barnstable Brown party & into the Derby, the local media didn't have anything much to say about her visit. In the grand scheme of things, she was fairly far down the list in terms of celebrity status. In fact, I saw comments in several local media outlets from people wondering when it became popular to invite B-list celebrity reality stars (not just Kate -- there were a lot of other reality people here this weekend) and Food Network people?

So, there you go. My 2 cents, for what it's worth.

I agree.. I've always thought she was very pretty anyhow - so that goes a long way in pulling off an outfit like that..

I like the hat. Aren't people suppossed to wear hats like that at the Derby? Isn't the Derby kind of the American equivlent to Royal Ascot? OTHO, the dress is a fashion faux pas.

Speaking of the Derby I missed it yet again But I got the results and I'm so happy that a horse named Animal Kingdom won!

Anyone watch the Philly episode?
Few observations.

Kara-did not say a word on the couch. Pulled her knees up and looked at her Sister Mady talk.

Mady-hates any kind of Fast Food-"You go Girl".

Steve-Gave Kate $100 for holding a spider-(just seemed like a really personal moment, between him and Kate.)

Kate-Commented how the Hockey Players were to young for her to date, perfers older men. Commented how she won't do online dating because she doesn't know how to use a computer-(I think she forgot about the episode, where her and Jon were on their computers in their rooms answering e-mail.)

Aiden-Talks very well.
Joel-Doesn't talk as well as Aiden.
Collin-Has him paired up with Aiden a lot. I wonder if Aiden keeps him more calm.
Hannah-her hair is short.
Alexis-Leah-just their normal yelling and screaming.

I don't watch the show enough to know who is who but the recent one I saw (Australia zoo) if this is the taller of the two twins she is really struggling IMHO. She seems very withdrawn & depressed. I really think the two older girls are past the point of this being fun (sure they might like the trips, etc but they are over the cameras following them around).

You and I don't agree n very much when it comes to Kate, but I am right behind you on this one. I have never seen such crazy, ugly hats as those that where worn to the royal wedding.
