Kanye west pays $3900 to have Indian Food delivered.

Next time I am in Wales I may have to make a special trip there, I do like a good curry! :goodvibes

You start there. I choose not to. Just remember, in some way or another, we ALL just paid for that food.

Wha.....???

How did I just pay for his food?

(I always knew he was a golddigger. :p )

I think a lot of you "it's his money, he can spend it how he likes" people are missing the point. It's not that some random celeb spent an obscene amount of money for food. If that were the case, there would be posts on here every day about how much celebs pay for things.

The point is that it's a guy who spends all his time telling the country that the evil rich white people are responsible for all the poverty in this country and that they should all give more of their money to pay for welfare programs for poor people.

If that's the point, then you're correct - I did miss it because I have no idea who this person is so I wouldn't know what he's said in the past. But I don't think that is the point being made - I keep hearing that the cost of the meal will be passed along to all 300 million Americans (at a shocking .0013 cents per person!) or that it makes us ugly Americans or the guy should have given the money to Katrina victims, etc.

So the point is that he's a hypocrite? And we therefore shouldn't take him seriously? Did anyone take him seriously before?

In my Bono example, he was right in the middle of his push for debt relief and ending poverty and AIDS in Africa - basically asking everyone else to pony up, then he spent $1700 to fly his hat first class. That affected Bono's credibility, at least in my eyes. Is there a parallel to this West fellow?

Eh. He made it our business when he made it PUBLIC information:confused3 He wanted to be our business, or else he would have kept it private. Ya know? Like not announced it to the Associated Press:rotfl:

As I see it, there are three entities involved, and any of them could have made it public. West's camp, the music promoter, or the restaurant themselves. Frankly this isn't the type of thing I've ever seen a musiian release a press release on, he's got NOTHING to gain by it. However the restaurant has everything to gain...

Because the promoters name isn't mentioned, I highly doubt it was them.

It keeps him in the news. That is what he has to gain from it:confused3 People are talking about it. Even those that wrote "I coud care less" cared enough to write;)

I don't pay attention to any of them. I'm much more likely to listen to someone who's a lot less self-serving and low-key with their charitable and social work. Warrick Dunn, Kurt Warner, Ziggy Marley, and Brad Arnold for example.

Frankly he doesn't need the press, he's already all over the place. I honestly think it's the restaurant that released the "news."

That was my interpretation at least. Yeah, I'd say it's similar to the Bono story. Personally, I don't care what any of these celebs do with their money. I'm not a socialist or a communist, so I think they should be able to spend their money however they want. They earned it (regardless of whether you think musicians should be paid millions of dollars or not).

But it does annoy me when celebs get political and try to tell us how we should live our lives, then turn around and apply different standards to themselves. Like Madonna and others getting on TV and telling us how important it is to vote, when they didn't even bother registering.

Good point ::yes::

Obviously Kanye doesn't care about the poor. He could have used that money to help out some people in NOLA.

To me it sadly magnifies our priorities as a society.

Why? Would you rather that we had no arts? No sports? The salaries commanded are relative to the amount that the artist or athlete makes for their team or label. Would you rahter the team owners made more? Or the label presidents?

I'm not understanding your rationale. Nobody forces anyone to buy a ticket or a CD or a piece of autographed sports memoriabilia.

What would you like to see done differently?

Maybe he did but had some leftover for dinner?;)

PapaDeuce--what in the world are you talking about?:confused3

And how do you know that he hasn't already donated money to that or many other charities?

When was the last time that you stopped before buying something you didn't need and sent that money to help someone in NOLA instead?

Anne

But John, he already did his part.........

He took the time out of his busy and important schedule to go on national tv for a fund raiser. He educated all of us by telling America that George Bush hates black people.
I never knew that about Bush and the by the surprise look on Mike Myers face, who was next to him, neither did he.:crazy2:

Never mind that the promoters of that event said the donations slowed down after that, but hey who cares about that when West had to make his point.

Not really. Many people here had no idea who he was:confused3

Well I had never heard of him because I don't listen to music. The only songs I hear are what plays on American Idol!

My family loves Indian food!!! He should send some to us. There are no good Indian restaraunts in the cornfields.
