Ok, so brand new to actually using my points, but am I correct in understanding if I want to go in June 2008, I would actually use my June 2008 points, and so on? So in July this year if I want to book June 2009, I would still be using my June 2009 points and not my 2008 points?

Just want to make sure I understand.

Depends on your Use Year (UY). My UY is December so my 2008 points enter my account December 1 2008. If I were to travel in June 2009, I would use my 2008 points.

Sorry, should have mentioned my UY was June.

You understand. :)

Since you have a June use year, your -

2008 points are good for trips between 6/1/2008 and 5/31/2009
2009 points are good for trips between 6/1/2009 and 5/31/2010
2010 points are good for trips between 6/1/2010 and 5/31/2011
etc.

For example:
A June 2008 trip would take 2008 use year points.
A July 2009 trip would take 2009 points.
A March 2009 trip would take 2008 use year points.

You can bank or borrow points to get more points into a particular use year.

For example, if your July 2009 trip costs 325 points but you only have 150 points in your contract, you could bank your 2008 points into your 2009 use year. Then those 2008 points can be used for the July 2009 trip. You could borrow the additional 25 that you need from the 2010 use year.

You can only bank (or borrow) the same points once, so the points you banked from 2008 must be used by the end of the 2009 use year or they expire and are lost to you. Similarly, the 25 points that were borrowed from 2010 must also be used by the end of the 2009 use year or they too expire and are lost. (Obviously, this would only be a problem if you canceled the July 2009 trip, since the banked and borrowed points will be used if you take the trip).

More info than you asked for, LOL. Hope it helps.

I'm new too and still trying to understand all of this.

We got 225 points at AKV. We also got 160 developer points that we're using for 2 trips this fall.

I want to book in July for June 2009. So I assume I'll need to "bank" points from my 2007 UY (we have a Dec. UY). Then I will get another 225 points in Dec. 2008 and can use those points too to pay for one big stay (we hope to book a 2 bedroom for 7 nights and invite friends, so we'll need like 360 points).

Am I correct in the way I'm figuring this? Can you book in July when you don't have your points yet? (we get new points Dec. 2008).

A June 2009 trip falls within your 2008 use year (12/1/2008-11/30/2009). So your would use 2008 points for that trip. If you want to use 2007 use year points for that trip, you have to bank them first.

You can make the June 2009 reservation in July of 2008 (assuming you are staying at your home resort).

The points for all of the years in your contract are actually already in your account. (So you don't have to wait for a "deposit" to use them). You just have to have enough points in the same use year as your planned vacation.
