It's Always in the top couple for terrorist possibilities since it is a tourist mecca.I wouldn't worry all that much, its ok to be worried and vigilant though

What were the other 4? Curious. Try not to think about it and enjoy. I was there in March and my husband was all worried about going but it all worked out. Postive thoughts!!!:goodvibes

There is no reason to be nervous. I know I refuse to live my life in fear of terrorists.

Hey- I will be there too!!! Don't be nervous. Try and enjoy yourself- you have spent too much money not to!!!!

This.

Let me be blunt. If people change their plans, alter their way of life, because of terrorist threats....their mission has been accomplished. That's their goal...disrupt who we are, what we do, how we do things, by fear of violence.

The chances of being part of such an event are so infinitesimally small. You've got a (statistically) much better chance of being involved in some sort transportation incident causing injury or fatalities than an attack.

Relax, go about your business and life. Let the people who get paid to worry about it and stop that stuff do their job, you be you. :)

It's always a risk.

But think of it this way- how many major terrorist attacks have happened on US soil since 9.11.2001?

How many fatal car accidents have happened on US soil since 9.11.2001?

The risk is there, but it's minimal. Relax and enjoy your trip.

Well Said:)

we went right after the 9/11 terrorist attacks as our packages were prepaid and didnt want to lose $$. we also thought it wouldnt be very crowded.
it was super crowded.
just dont think about it. you will be just fine.

It's always been at the top of list, for quite some time. You just didn't know that before. Go on, enjoy your trip, and don't worry. Had you not seen CNN, you would have never had a reason to worry. Don't let it ruin your trip, and HAVE FUN! :thumbsup2

This! You are just realizing this now? This has been true since 9/11 (if not before)! I seriously doubt the risk is any higher now than it was then, especially in light of recent events.

Relax. Enjoy. Live your life.

I live in NY - always on the top of the list! Not gonna move though. :cool2:

proof that Disney has gone downhill

:confused3:confused3 I don't get this ? How is a terrorist threat proof that Disney has gone downhill ??

To the OP, do not allow terrorists to rule your life. Once they have succeeded , they have won. The best way to rebuke this behavior is to live life and enjoy everything. :goodvibes

Shows like that do not inform. They only make one fearful. You have to consider what they don't tell you:

There are lots of terrorist targets besides tourist spots. Oil refineries, water reservoirs, power plants, dams, military bases. Then there are specific group targets, specific religion targets, specific people targets.

Point is, Walt Disney World is ever-vigilant, has highly responsive security people alongside Orange County Sheriffs onsite, and watches everything that goes on at its properties, as well as world-wide. It's amazing how fast their security people show up for even the smallest incident. They do look for suspicious things like abandoned backpacks, and they use trained dogs.

You want encouragement? You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning. And I couldn't find any info on someone being struck by lightning at WDW, although a giraffe died after being struck in 2003. Sounds like a bummer, but think about it: whatever you do, there is risk. Flying or driving, walking across the street, a fall down stairs, a rare disease, choking on a piece of candy.

Sincerely, have a great trip, and write back! :)

We are leaving on Thursday and the thought of a terrorist attack did cross my mind (just a bit), only because I know it is a tourist mecca, not what CNN had reported (didn't see the report). However, I am still going to go and have a wonderful time and enjoy being at my Happy place :goodvibes. I agree with the PP that if it wasn't for CNN, you probably would not of been worrying about the possibility of a terrorist attack in the first place. Have an awesome trip and don't worry.
