I've so enjoyed reading the trip reports on this Board and I finally have the chance to share my trip memories with all of you.

My DH and I enjoyed our first trip home to SSR (our home resort) from 11/12 - 19, first two nights in a studio and changing to a one bedroom the last five. We heard more "Welcome Homes" than I could keep track of and enjoyed excellent service from all the CM's.

We had an absolutely perfect villa location - building 1501 - 1836 (third building from the Carriage House in Congress Park), rooms 1647 for the studio and 1645 for the one-bedroom. All of our requests were met - non-smoking, higher floor and pool view. We overlooked the quiet pool and West Side with the Congress Park bus stop only one minute from our villa door, Downtown Disney an easy 5 - 7 minute walk and Artist Palette and High Rock Springs pool about a 7 or 8 minute walk.

Both villas were in great condition, but after enjoying the extra space in the one bedroom, I'm certain that's where I'll want to stay in the future (might be tricky on our 160 points!). I loved the elegant feel of the furnishings and the granite countertops. We're really happy with our decision to purchase SSR!

The Donald Duck interactive water feature is under repair, the area had been torn up and Donald was sitting in the corner! We didn't have the chance to ask anyone about it but it certainly looked to be a major repair.

We enjoyed a couple of meals at Artist's Palette. While the menu is limited, what we had was great. I do agree with previous posts that the area is small and the addition of a full service restaurant would be great. We also enjoyed the Turf Club - very comfortable surroundings and a great adult place for a quiet drink.

Construction is in full swing with the remaining 8 buildings all in various stages. We could hear some construction noise but it didn't bother us. Phase 3 construction will be on the site of the fairway villas (we were told that the treetop villas do not belong to DVC).

Very few negatives - the building numbering scheme is tricky to understand. I want to thank Doc for his detailed SSR map - I knew from one look at his map that we had pulled a great location! The bathroom exhaust fans (and weird green flashing lights on the fans) are set up on motion detectors - very strange in the middle of the night to have the fans start up when we used the bathroom. The bathroom doors are like a maze, I was totally confused the first night in the one bedroom - (what door was that WC behind anyway!) After that, I learned to position the bathroom doors before I went to bed!

We spent one day at the F&W Festival and saw Chubby Checker in concert. Chubby can still put on a good show - the crowd loved him and his energy level was just amazing.

We took the Segway tour and absolutely loved it! We'll definitely do it again - very easy to learn to use and we felt like celebrities as we rode through World Showcase with other visitors taking our pictures and asking us questions about the Segways.

Thanks to anyone who's had the patience to make it all the way through this very long post! We had a great trip that lived up to all our expectations. Any questions, please let me know!

Thanx for the great report, Pat. I am happy to read that you enjoyed SSR. We visited SSR last month, and we were also very impressed with the resort...

Love reading about SSR! Takes me home.

Sounds like you had a great trip and Chubby sounds like fun!

Definitely will book Segway next year!

Thanks for the GREAT report -- I really enjoyed it! Have they put up the Christmas decorations at SSR yet? I'd love to see pictures if they have! We'll see them soon enough I guess.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the report! I hope the Donald Duck water feature gets fixed, it looked like lots of fun for the kids. We have a night in SSR coming up, and I can't wait to experience it.

Thank you for the great trip report ! Do all the building in congress park face DTD? We were there for the tour last Aug., but didn`t see every building in CP. Only the one which had the model villas.
thanks,

Thanks for the great trip report. I do wish I had made it over to SSR while at OKW for our trip in Oct. It sounds wonderful::yes::

All the buildings in Congress Park face Downtown Disney, but they are set at different angles and have different views. Our wing faced West Side. I wouldn't be surprised if Congress Park will be the "preferred" location once SSR is complete.

The Christmas decorations were up at SSR - they were very elegant, the tree in the lobby had ornaments of Santa riding a horse. I do have pictures but I don't know how to post them. If someone could PM me with instructions, I'd be happy to post my pix.

thank you patricia721:wave:
We requested congress park ,upper floor, DTD view. I guess thats the best we could do, since we haven`t seen a floor plan with room locations:confused3
anyway, thank you so much for the info !

Thank you for the terrific link !!! I think we`ve covered all the bases with the requests that we`ve asked for, when we made our ressies. We were just hoping for a scenic, water, DTD view. I know there just requests ( and not garenteed ) so hopefully we`ll be lucky :teeth:
Thank you for taking the time to post the floor room layout for me, it was very neighborly of you :wave2: !! I printed it out for a reference. My DH and I just love the relaxing feel to SSR, can`t wait to get there ! thank you again,

Glad you and DH had a great trip, my DS and I had a great time reading your post, I didn't notice a countdown clock? going back soon? If so don't forget to keep us posted

Thanks, Jim and Jason

WebmasterDoc developed the great website on SSR that I provided the link to in a previous e-mail. This website also contains detailed information on Old Key West and Hilton Head.

Doc - I just want to be certain that you receive the credit for your hard work!

We are going to SSR in a 1 bed in Jan. after a 2 night stay at CBR. After reading your report I am looking forward to staying there.

BTW, we saw the Commodores at F&W. Lots of fun!

Thanks for your wonderful report! I look forward to trying SSR in the future. I wonder why they were working on the kids water play area?

I think the Donald interactive water area is causing them lots of problems at SSR. It was broken for the first week of our trip in September but thankfully working during the second week. Our DD was 16 months at the time and she loved it and the kiddie slide too. It is a wonderful pool for toddlers especially as it has zero entry.

I was really disappointed when Donald was broken when we first arrived. I could not understand how Disney can keep the complicated and technical attractions in the parks functional but not a water fountain!!! It seems to be causing problems regularly.

I hope that it gets repaired properly soon for all our kids benefits!!!

I think there were problems with Donald after the hurricanes...and it seems like it's never been completely fixed since then. I hope they don't have to re-do that area!

What a shame. I hope they don't nix the whole Donald area. We pool hopped here last summer and my youngest loved that area!

These areas must be pains, though! That same trip we stayed at Pop Century and the Goofy water play area the padding was all out of whack. My kids liked playing there more than the pool!

Thanks for the great report! I'm disappointed to hear about the Donald water area being broken, too.... Although, my DS age 2 has his arm in a cast right now, and will still have it on when we go to SSR in a couple weeks.....and I was wondering how to avoid the Donald water play area so he wouldn't get his cast wet! Guess I don't have to worry about that now!!

Thanks for the info on the Christmas decorations. Were the decorations all over the resort (i.e., down the streets and such?) or just in the main check-in lobby?
