Just out of curiousity - pt. 1 bills

Who, when, how, where, why?

Who pays the bills in your family, one or both?

When do you pay them, all at once, as they come in, a set day of the week? At night before you go to bed, etc.

How, do you use checks, online, what?

Where? Do you have a set place, a desk, do you have a folder with everything and pay them where you want? An office, your bedroom?

Why?, well, I had to add that in.

Well, for many years I WISHED to be in charge of the bills. I'm not, though.

So...

Who? Spouse pays.

When? As they come in, and as he has time.

How? Primarily by check.

Where? Sitting in the truck/car, or at the dining table.

Why? We are somewhat attached to our electricity, water, etc., etc.

I am in control of all the money. It's a headache but I have money issues and could never give up that control.

I get paid once a month so they all get paid at once

I pay everything I can online. I do have to write a check for the rent.

I pay them in my office at home.

Why? because I have no other choice lol

When? When I have time...i probably should do it soon! A few important things get deducted out of my checking acct. automatically.
Where? Usually, at the desk in our home office.
How? By check, check by phone, or online.
Why? I like having good credit.

When: Usually once a month, but we do have one or two that come in later so then I pay those separately.

I pay all my bills. I usually do it twice a month. I sit at my kitchen table and pull them all off of the shelf. I pay with checks and a few come straight out of the account.

I pay the bills every two weeks when DH gets paid. I pay by telephone banking at work before I start or at lunch. I have all of the bills in my Dayrunner with account numbers and have a monthly list of them that I fill in with amounts due as they come in.

Dh and I do them together, with me at the computer and him in his chair next to me. We get paid on the 1st and 15th so we pay the bills then (we have set bills we pay on the 1st and 15th). I pay as many as I can online, and then just write a check for the rest.

me 99% online. I also use Quicken to download all credit card transactions and such. Paychecks come every other week and I pay all the credit card balances down to 0 then.

Most of my utilities/cell phonen get charged automatically to our American Express card. So they get paid when I pay the credit cards. Mortgage automatically pays on the 10th day of the month. We don't even get paper bills for most of them.

This summer I've made my 13yo son Assistant Vice President of Finance for the household. He balanced a checking account last week for the first time. He was pretty shocked to see thousands of dollars go flying out of the account without even trying. :lol:

I pay them before they're due, I try to pay them at least a week ahead of time. Check or online.

I physically pay the bills, however financially DH pays the bills.

I pay them on the 24th of each month, as the mortgage is due the 25th and I stop at the bank on the way to the post office, and drop off the mortgage

My GMAC Lease payment and auto insurance is automatic from a savings account each month

all other bills are paid via quicken, checks printed from computer, and mailed the old fashioned way...

all bills are paid downstairs in my office...where filing cabinets etc... are set up with old bills statements etc.

why? Because DH is bound and determined to keep the A+ credit rating we've earned.

all CC's are payed off in full each month, except Zales- that's 0% interest

When? Most when the SS check comes in - the others as I can squeak out a little more money throughout the month..

How? Mostly checks - sometimes one or two on-line..

Where? The office area of my bedroom..

Why? Because homeless shelters look like very scary places to live...

Who: too much responsibility for DH, so I handle the checking account and paying the bills

When: by due date, weekly as we are paid. We are among the unfortunate who live week-to-week and depend heavily on every dollar we earn.

Where: varies - sometimes at work before getting started for the day, or it might be while I'm checking my balance online or maybe I'm on the sofa in evening

How: some, like the phone and wireless phone, I pay online, other checks are written and either delivered (cable, dept store charge cards) while others are mailed oput of town

DH gets paid once a month. His entire check is direct deposited. Most of our bills are paid at this time. I get paid every other week. 75% of my check is direct deposited. If there is anything left to pay when my check comes in, I pay it. I receive a check for the other 25%. I put $125 into a "vacation" savings account, and DH and I use the balance for spending $$ until my next pay check (we do not use ATM's).

I have our yearly budget on Excel (one page for each month) and use Quicken to keep track of the our income and spending. I usually write checks from my desk with the computer on. Do not print checks. Automatic w/d for insurance payments. DH does not want to pay a fee for on line bill paying, so I get to mail checks. It works (well) for us.

Why?, well, I had to add that in.

I pay everything, one week before it's due is when it's mailed. So, I do them based upon that. Very few checks are written anymore, except for school mostly. The rest are auto deducted or, auto paid by credit card, whichever those companies have options for this. I always sit at the kitchen table. I keep the bills in a really small (useless for anything else) drawer, with the next due bill on top.

some etcs. are heat, satellite TV, phone, cell phones, cable modem..........
