I posted a thread the other day asking about the average time it takes to go through the whole purchasing process. I got some helpful information from other members. Well, I called my guide today, and it turns out that my papers still had not been sent out to me, even after 2 weeks!
Apparently, there was a message in the computer system stating that my return documents were received on August 29th. I called with my request for membership and deposit on August 22nd and my credit card was billed August 23rd. My guide asked me if I had sent them anything(i.e. W2's or such). I said no, because I hadn't received anything to even start the process.
So he told me again (for the 3rd time & after having to investigate and call me back) that I should definitely receive my documents by the end of next week. I should mention that he is super nice and was very apologetic. But now we're going on three weeks since I initiated the process. My use year is April, but I still can't make a reservation because I only put a $500 deposit on my credit card (I'm mailing a check for the rest), so I can't get a member number yet to make a reservation.
I guess I'm just looking for sympathy. But are they that inundated with purchases? I'm very excited about joining, but my enthusiasm is being slowly diminished. Please tell me everything will be okay(I know it will). Has anything like this happened to anyone else?
Just curious.
Thanks for listening (or reading).

I belive that in New Jersey, the time it takes to recieve your package is some function of the number of the exit you live at.

Don't worry everything will be fine I know its hard to wait but you will have until 2042 to take wonderful vacations with family and friends:D
Did you buy BCV its very popular - I have seen many post by new DVC owners. Be patient - before you know it you will be saying "I'm going to Disney World":Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Richyams,

LOL! Do you have the formula, maybe I can calculate when I'll finally get my stuff! :teeth: By the way, I'm in South Jersey off of I295, not the turnpike, if that makes the calculation different. LOL. Thanks for making me laugh.

Yasuern,

Thanks for the sympathy. I know it will be okay. We are buying at BCV, and it does seem that they're selling a lot of it really fast.

I'm just so excited, and I can't wait to be back in Disney!

Sheri,

I just closed several contracts with Disney in the last 2 months. When I first decided to buy BCV in April, as soon as I told my guide how many points I wanted to buy, within 10 minutes, he called me back with a member # and I was able to make reservations with Member Services right away, even though I only put down a deposit just like you did.

With Vero Beach's contract, the deposit was just the amount of the Magical Beginning, I did not put anything else down, and I was able to make reservations with the points that I planned to buy.

The only thing I could not do with these points was that I could not bank or borrow until I close on the contracts.

It took me 4 months to close on everything because I made several changes along the way. However, I was able to make or change reservations with no problem. I just closed on my last VB contract 2 weeks ago.

Did they change the policy? Can you ask your guide to set up the member # for you for now and also ask him to make sure you can start making reservations with MS?

I hope this will help. Congratualations!!! It is always exciting to buy DVC points and fun to plan your trips!!!:D

I did ask my guide if he could give me a member number, but he said that after I mailed the rest of my deposit he could give me the number. So I'll just wait (they say good things come to those who wait-but I'm afraid that by the time I get to make a ressie, I won't be able to get what I want, when I want). Oh, well (heavy sigh).

Sheri,

Good luck with your purchase. Just out of curiosity, are you financing this, because you said "mail in the rest of the deposit"? All I paid for deposit for my BCV contracts, 2 100-point contracts, was $500 each. When I finally closed in August (4 month later), I put the balance on my credit card.

I always feel the guide can do MAGIC for you. My guide was great and he helped me even with my resale purchases on the Disney side. I am sorry that you can't get a member #. However, just like you said, look at the bright side, maybe the best things do come later.

Good luck again.

Christine

This has happened to us twice with our add ons. Things are so slow along the pipe line that we just got our final papers(recorded deed paperwork) from an add on we made in January. We even gave our guide our cc# for the whole purchase and expected no problems. And twice we got nothing in the mail and when I called her back she had lost every detail I had given her:confused: Hang in there!

Luckytso,
I am financing (BCV). I'll give it to the end of this coming week, but if I still don't get anything, I'm gonna call and plead with him to give me a member #. I don't want to have to book my home resort when the 7 month window opens up! Especially since my vacation will be in June, when everyone (including my 2 kids) gets out of school. My use year is April. I also told him I need to bank my points (175). Maybe I should double-check to make sure he made note of that. Yikes!

You said it took you this long to get paperwork from an add-on in January?? That's the final paperwork, I hope. You did get earlier access to your points, I would assume? I hope the finalization of a new membership doesn't take that long.

Thanks for the info.
