I was working in the flowerbed in front of my house this morning. I reached over to pull a weed and this snake head stands up and looks me in the face. Well, I'm not a snake hater and I have even held snakes before, but this really surprised me. I set a new land speed record through the door into my house. Once I collected myself, I went back out to see if he was still there. I just wondered what kind he was. He had crawled away. I know he wasn't a coral snake. Other than that, it could have been any kind. Interesting wildlife here in Florida!

Yeah...I don't mind snakes, spiders etc., as long as they keep a distance from my personal space!

LOL! The snakes are something else. I've run into a few down there. One was a coral! :faint: My neighbor took care of that one!!

Yikes.....I think I would have set a new land record for leaving the town, lol!

My best friend lived in Orlando, in an apartment , years ago. She was pregnant at the time. As usual with pregnancy, she went straight to the bathroom whn she came home one day. When she entered the bathroom, there was a boa constricter rising from her toilet!!! The neighbor had conviently "forgotten" to tell anyone that his snake was missing!! She claims to have set a speed record that day too!!!! LOL!!:earseek:

I read about that happening to someone in the National Enquirer years and years ago. That is my biggest fear - and I confess to always turning on the light no matter what time of night ........ and peering into the toliet before .. ahem..... ascending the throne!:o

What color was he? How big?

He was probably about a foot long and dark in color. I really moved to fast to get much of a look.

Sounds like maybe a garden snake. Have you tried a search on Google? Try...garden snake. Dark ones are coming up. ;)

This is the reason I've started collecting some "Florida's Fabulous" books from Waldenbooks..... it is a collection of large paperback books - one for each topic, ie. Trees, Butterflys, Fish, Waterfowl, Birds, Reptiles & Anphibians, etc...... so far, I've gotten the one for the snakes, spiders, birds & waterfowl.... the illustrations are beautiful and the books are a great quick reference.

I want to be able to identify those snakes & spiders after I come to... :hyper:

Yuck!!! I have a friend who had a snake come out of their bath tub drain!! I also had an old boyfriend who's sister had a snake that went missing. Well after 2 1/2 years they didn't even think about it anymore and figured it either died somewhere in the house-- or got out. Well after that long one day it camed slithering across the dining room floor (very much alive and larger) during a family dinner!!! I would of freaked out!!!

Last fall I had a snake come out of the defroster vent on the dashboard of my car. To this day I still haven't gotten back into that car.
