Just made an offer on BCV Resale!

Just had to post here as I know some of you have heard my saga of trying to get DH to go along with DVC purchase. Many of you have been so helpful in answering all of my questions too...I really appreciate it!!

I went ahead and got on a waiting list for BCV through a timeshare company, never thinking anything would come up this soon. I received an email earlier this week with a listing for the right number of points and even the right use year! After much eyelash batting and cajoling on my part, my DH finally agreed that if it is what I wanted to do, he was ok with it (YAY!!)

I just hung up the phone after making an offer on a 175 point BCV contract with an additional 74 banked points! Now comes the fingernail-biting waiting to pass ROFR. We offered what I think was high enough $$/point to pass, but you never know!

Thanks to everyone who graciously answered my questions and helped me out.

I'm sure I'll be posting as soon as I hear any news!

Thanks for all the pixie dust, guys! I'm still suffering from a little "sticker shock", but I know it will be worth it in the long run.....a lifetime of (hopefully) happy family vacations.

joepoe: we are paying $74/point. I had originally wanted to offer a few dollars less, but it only made about a $350 difference in the total price, and we wanted to be sure to pass ROFR. My rep said that BCV resales are pretty rare right now and Disney is very interested in buying them back because they have a wait list of people looking for them. Who knows...could have been a story to get us to offer the few $$'s more, but oh well! We just signed the paperwork today, so its just now going to be sent along to Disney for review.

I was originally looking at SSR direct from Disney....the theming of the resort really appealed to me and the longer contract was definately a plus. But....after reading time and time again on this board to "buy where you want to stay", we just knew the Epcot area was where we wanted to be! By the time 38 years rolls around, I'll be too old to care about the extra years at SSR!!

We bought 200bcv april. full 2003 and 2004 points. No 2002 banked points. We paid the dues on 2003 and 72 per point. We passed rofr 7 weeks ago. we also paid closing for 475. Assuming you paid main on the 75 those points are worth 10-4=6 dollars per point. 75x6=450. 450/175=about 2.5 dollars per point. That is close to this contract that passed rofr. Also, it is my sense disney pays more attention to dollars per point and paid dues than current points available. I'd be optimistic.

Our rofr took 24 days. I've heard as quick as 9 days and as long as 29.

It is "Right of First Refusal". It is what Disney has written into every contract. It allows them to buy any contract first, at the same condition that someone else has offered and contracted to buy it for.

We're sweating out the ROFR period right now too. It's our first DVC purchase (we pondered and pondered). Seller was asking $74/point, we offered $72/point BCV (100 points) which was accepted! Now the wait begins... (We'd like to add on more points, we'll see how this goes first!) 100 points is enough for us to start, just two of us and we'd be perfectly happy in a studio (after all at this point we've only been in regular hotel rooms).

150 BWV/Oct use year
32-2002 banked points
All 2003 and 2004 points
We pay only one month (Dec.) dues for 2003 points
We pay closing (about $425 I think)
$71/point

I hope you get your points. I already have points at BCV but I am on the waiting list with Disney for some more at BCV. I thought about SSR but to me it would be easier to have more at my home resort. If it takes too long, then I may go with SSR before they sell out. Good luck to you, I hope you get them!

We just got notified that we've passed the ROFR!!!! Our closing is January 10th!!!! (our first trip "home" will be October - Food and Wine Time!) Must've been all the pixie dust - thanks everyone!

Just a side question, we'd like to add more points when we can, how important is it to have the same use year? i.e. the 100 points we bought have a use year of September, should we only try to get September (October) points, or does it really matter??
