What a first trip with our DVC membership! Home resort is AK but we stayed at BLT. Room 8641, great view, top floor with view of pool and we could either watch some of the higher fireworks over the TOTW lounge or stroll down to the lounge to watch the show from there. LOVED being on the 16th floor but we had to keep the balcony doors locked because of our kids (11, 9, 4 and 2) we have climbers. Speaking of which...
...our first evening my 2yo son jumped off the high back of the kitchen seating area and broke his leg. Ambulance ride to Celebration Hospital - no fastpass required - 7.5 hours in the ER and a cast up to his hip. By 5am when we returned to the room my wife and I had been up for 25 hours straight. Not the ideal way to start the trip.
Crowds were not as bad as we feared from 3/20-3/23, then were as bad as we feared on 3/24-3/26, especially after 11am. Even at the most crowded, frustating, hot & sweaty times people were extremely nice - even more so after they saw the cast. It was 85 and sunny every day and never rained a drop.
Other than the broken leg for which the cast has been dubbed "The world's most expensive autograph book" it was a pretty good, exhausting and fun trip. We have about 20 character signatures on the cast. We got to accomplish about 90% of what we wanted. Jedi Training, Rapunzel, Pirate League and so on. O'hana brunch was fantastic, daughter's favorite meal was the dinner at CRT.
One of our favorite parts of the trip was handing out the fastpasses we weren't going to use on our way out each day. My daughter really got into it and we had fun picking out families to share with and most were VERY appreciative. It was one of those things that helped make the trip special. We received our share of pixie dust as well with different things here and there.
Looking forward to our next visit "home" and going to see our doctor today about the leg.
