What a first trip with our DVC membership! Home resort is AK but we stayed at BLT. Room 8641, great view, top floor with view of pool and we could either watch some of the higher fireworks over the TOTW lounge or stroll down to the lounge to watch the show from there. LOVED being on the 16th floor but we had to keep the balcony doors locked because of our kids (11, 9, 4 and 2) we have climbers. Speaking of which...

...our first evening my 2yo son jumped off the high back of the kitchen seating area and broke his leg. Ambulance ride to Celebration Hospital - no fastpass required - 7.5 hours in the ER and a cast up to his hip. By 5am when we returned to the room my wife and I had been up for 25 hours straight. Not the ideal way to start the trip.

Crowds were not as bad as we feared from 3/20-3/23, then were as bad as we feared on 3/24-3/26, especially after 11am. Even at the most crowded, frustating, hot & sweaty times people were extremely nice - even more so after they saw the cast. It was 85 and sunny every day and never rained a drop.

Other than the broken leg for which the cast has been dubbed "The world's most expensive autograph book" it was a pretty good, exhausting and fun trip. We have about 20 character signatures on the cast. We got to accomplish about 90% of what we wanted. Jedi Training, Rapunzel, Pirate League and so on. O'hana brunch was fantastic, daughter's favorite meal was the dinner at CRT.

One of our favorite parts of the trip was handing out the fastpasses we weren't going to use on our way out each day. My daughter really got into it and we had fun picking out families to share with and most were VERY appreciative. It was one of those things that helped make the trip special. We received our share of pixie dust as well with different things here and there.

Looking forward to our next visit "home" and going to see our doctor today about the leg.

I am concentrating my comments on the broken leg saga and the sharing of the fastpasses with others.

First, it was quite a trip, wasn't it with the broken leg coming on the first day of your visit. What is your impression of the ER at Celebration Hospital? From the comments, even though it took almost 8 hours to finalize the treatment, it sounds like the visit to the ER was successful. I hope that your son's break was clean and simple and that he has a good recovery.

Second, what a great way to share unused FP! I hope your post inspires others to do the same. And, may I sprinkle pixie dust on your family for future trips to WDW.

Wow not an ideal way to start out a vacation, but you definatley seemed to make the best of it from your post and went on to have a great vacation! Your trip sounds like it was wonderful and although maybe not what you had planned for your first trip home, it definately will become part of a great family story.

Hope all goes well at the doctor! Take Care. :)

I'm not sure how appropriate most of my comments about our experience there would be for a public board. If by successful you mean they eventually took a successful X-ray and eventually they actually got a cast on his leg, then yes, it was successful. The leg did not have to be set so that was good. I'll sum up the rest of the experience by saying it was less enoyable than Stitch's Great Escape and leave it at that.

Thanks for the nice thoughts.

Wow! What troopers, made the best of a bad situation and kept going! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

First of all.....sorry your little one was injured and I hope everything is going well with the leg

We do this too!! I think last trip it was Mission Space and Rock n' Rollercoaster we gave away. You might have thought that the random people we chose had won the lottery....it was pretty cool to make someone's day :goodvibes.

I also enjoy spreading some fastpass joy to my fellow travelers. And like you I try to find just the right family to give them to. I also try to give my table at a crowded CS to someone who really needs it. I was at Cosmic Rays in early March and as we were finishing up I noticed a family with two trays of food and three crying children. They truly needed our table and they were so appreciative. Helping people out brings some of the best vacation memories!
