I have booked extra days in the past until I got airfare all set. I would think you'd be OK since CSR is so big.

Have you looked at SW for air? I've got non stop RT from Providence RI for May 1 to 4th for $115.60. That was a ding fare but before the ding I had $130.60 which isn't bad.

I am looking into SW. They are offering a $50 web fare (not including fees) one way but not for our times and or dates, so we are looking into switching things around a bit. I guess I need to be somewhat flexible with times. I just want to make sure we don't lose time on our travel days.

It seems that the earlier you ck in the better? Is this true? I've read here and elsewhere that the later you ck in the less prefered room you get.

Also-are the SW web fares ok? I'm worried about any fine print restrictions etc.

Thanks,
Ruth

They are refunding the difference in room rates, but like the above poster stated we also spend a great deal of time at the resort, or at least I do with the baby and I love to be able to play with my dd and look at the castle or when I putting her to sleep and we watch the colores change. I am tired of dealing with all of this over the phone I will wait till Friday when I can look someone in the eye and explain our aggravation especially when it is such a special trip...

I dont know how the poly does it now, but i rememer being in DW once and calling front desk to extend our stay. They told us we could but we would have to downgrade as the room was not available.
I cant believe they do that to you!

Ok..it's done and all set. We finalized our dates, times, and got airfare from SW at about $135 round trip.

My only question now is...we booked an 11:30 arrivng at 2:30 which puts us at DW around 4pm or after. Is this a bad time to ck in? Will most rooms already be filled by then and then we won't get our room requests?

I know ckin is 3, but I've seen posts of people cking in as early as 7am. :confused3

As to the CM rate being part of the reason why the OP was bumped...if they told you that is not the reason, I would not believe them. We got bumped from a castle view at the GF because I was using a CM discount. We were staying 3 nights, and they wanted us to switch rooms after the first 2 nights (neither room was castle view). I was told that all CM reservations have the least security. When they need to bump, they go first. They had a big renovation going on at the time.

We ended up at the Poly and loved it. It was years before I would book at the GF again, and that trip was a nightmare!

Most people don't know this but in legally once you are in a room the hotel/resort can not make you leave as long as you are paying. So if you decide you want to stay an extra day or two there is nothing they can do about it. Though they will try to get you to move. They can charge you the rack rate for the extra days. This is a Florida state law. My daughter and sil worked in the hotel business.

I have to add something to this thread concerning check-in times. When my husband, brother, sister-in-law and I checked in for our stay at the BCV January 15-19th, we arrived for check-in at 10:30am. We booked a one-bedroom. I made no requests when I made the reservation other than non-smoking, but the CM checking us in asked if we had any preferences. I asked if any rooms were ready now and he said no. So then I said, how about a 1st floor room? He said they did have one available, gave me the keys, and told me to call later to see if the room was ready.

We walked to Epcot, walked around, went to the Cantina de San Angel for lunch, and when we tried to use our room key card to charge lunch, it was denied. Strange we thought, since the card is usually available to charge right away, which is also what we were told when they handed them to us. Okay, no big deal. We called the resort around 1:30, room not ready. Walked around some more, called again at 2:30, room not ready. No problem, we know check-in isn't suppose to begin until 4pm anyway. At 3:30 we called again, and were told to come to the front desk when we got to the resort.

So, we get back to the BCV around 4, I go to the front desk, the CM takes my room keys, says there is a problem but doesn't know what it is, and hands me new room keys, which she says, are for a room on the 3rd floor. Okay, I was a little disappointed, because we WERE asked if we had a preference, and were TOLD 1st floor was available, but hey, we're in Disney, so what?

We go up to our room, which had a lovely view of the BCV quiet pool. I thought, okay, this is good. Then I had to go to the bathroom, and darn it, I realized we were in a handicapped room!!! I was not happy! I absolutely hate the shower, which is basically a cubby hole with a hole in the floor and a shower curtain. There is also no counter with stools in the kitchen, and the refrigerator is smaller as it is shorter in height. Now I'm annoyed, and don't know what to do. The view is great, but honestly, I'd rather be looking at garbage cans than have a handicapped shower.

I called the front desk to inquire very nicely if there was another room we could be switched to that wasn't handicapped. The CM said, "oh, you have one of our "accessible" rooms? Uh, yea, if that is what you want to call it. She then said, "sorry, but everyone has checked in for the day". So I said, yes, but WE checked in at 10:30 am, and were told we had a room on the 1st floor, and were given keys that later did not work. To that she basically said "too bad". She did say they could move us in the morning. I said, no thanks.

I'm not really sure what the point of my whole story is, LOL, other than don't believe everything you're told, and if you don't want an "accessible" room, then list it on your reservation when you make it, even though that doesn't guarantee you won't get one. I'm just glad we didn't have the kids with us this time as we would have really missed that breakfast counter and stools.

We had a similar problem to TeresaNJ:

My husband and I arrived at the GF for our honeymoon at around 8:45 am. Obviously there weren't rooms ready yet (Sunday after Thanksgiving), but we requested king-bed and got our room keys. We went to MK for the day (though our room keys worked fine), and called around 2:30, room wasn't ready. Tried at 3:30, room wasn't ready. Finally, at 4:15, our room was ready, which was fine. We were given our room number over the phone and went straight there when we got to the GF. Imagine my disappointment when it was 2 queen beds on the first night of our honeymoon! So I called the front desk and was told there were no king bed rooms available that night. I explaiend we checked in before 9 am, and I found it hard to believe there were none available then. She said she didn't know what happened, but there were none now. So my husband called back, spoke to a manager, and lo and behold, we were moved to a king room concierge, though we hadn't originally booked concierge. But it still aggravates me that checking in at 9 am did nothing for our preference requests.

I'm sure I've read about people getting rooms in the am.

So I guess it appears to be hit or miss. :confused3

We'll just wait and see what happens I guess. As you can tell by my posts. I'm a bit of a type A and have a hard time waiting. My flight is booked so we'll arrive when we arrive and hope for the best. Luckily I don't have a problem being a squeaky wheel. :stir:

Yipes - we are leaving in 2 days with lagoon view Poly. Haven't had a phone call yet that I know of, but I'm not liking what I'm hearing. Good luck to you and happy anniversary and happy 1st to your little one. She looks precious.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice, it's nice to see everyone pretty much reacted the same way I did...

When I asked about if the cm discount had anything to do with it she said absolutely not, she stated 35 other guests at Poly alone , all of whom were paying full rate, were also bumped it had more to do with who booked the last..

Thanks again

That's is good to know. :) As it truly should not make a difference.

Teresa NJ, we had something sort of like that happen to us, our last visit... We checked into WL at 11 am... We booked a courtyard view... and requested inner courtyard, NOT Villa courtyard... I was given our keys and told that it was exactly what we wanted but not clean... Later we called, room clean... not only was it not an inner courtyard, it didn't even look at the other courtyard... I would call it a lodge view... I called and was basically told... sorry, too bad that is a courtyard view... Then my Mom called (because I was disappointed-- we were on the first floor looking at the Villas, almost to the cubs den, we paid courtyard)... Any way, Mom got us moved to our DREAM room, overlooking the pool and waterfall... Mom wasn't going to let me be upset... :)

Good for you Jan!! That's great that your mom wouldn't give up. I now make sure to add to my reservations that I DO NOT want a handicapped-accessible room. I just wish they would be straight-up at checkin, not tell you one thing then do something else.

A little off topic but... we'll be at WDW on the 18th and my DS turns one! Another :cheer2: for the 18th! I'm so sad to hear about your situation! Hope everything goes your way!

Actually, now that I think about it... I hope we won't get bumped! We're paying the passholder rate at WL and arriving Monday the 13th. It's not concierge though, just courtyard view.

Exactly. More then likely that was reason she got bumped.

The cast discounts are great and a major savings, but you have to be able to go with the flow and be somewhat flexible.
I hope the OP does not make too much of a stink, because it will end up reflecting on the CM that made the ressie for her.

Well as to that comment, I really don't think it matters what discount you are on cm or ap or aaa, I still am paying over 3k for 9 nights, and I feel I have the right to make somewhat of an issue as I am not getting what I booked and paid for! As for making it look bad for the cm she has been there over 10 yrs and has a pretty good title to her name so I highly doubt that it will impact her at all..(Ot she knows one of the managers @Poly and already put a call in because of the problems, so I guess you could say that she has already made a stink as you put it.)

Any way...Bonvage all I am leaving in the am, so lots to do today..I'll keep you all updated, and I will be havinf lunch @the castle Sunday and dinner there next Sa, so if anyone wants reviews let me know...

When our kids were in the CP our experience with the CM discount was great! We got the feeling that the CM's take care of each other because they all know that someday they will be using it for family and friends themselves. They certainly won't hold it against the CM if the guest has problems during their stay-where exactly would that go on a job review? Parents are picky? I don't think so! :rotfl2: Because of the discount most people end up staying at more expensive resorts than they would have without it so the amount of money WDW ends up with is probably about the same. :sunny:

This is the same thing that happens to us every time we try to extend a stay. I can't remember ever being allowed to stay in the same room since it was booked for the next guest, and we have always had to change rooms in order to extend a stay.
