I just called my mom and she told me that the Carribbean Beach is way overbooked.... We have the choice of a value hotel ( I dont think so!) or Saratoga Springs of which I really have no desire to stay due to location. This is really frusterating, since we are arriving this FRIDAY!! :furious:

They created the problem by overbooking, they should fix the problem by giving you a room at a hotel you can be happy with.

Hummm.... I'm going on the 14th hope there are no problems. We get in very late, 10:30pm, so will be very upset if there is a problem when we arrive.

Will calling CRO or "the Poly"(I know it's just a call center) give any information on the booking status?

I hope you don't let this go, that is terrible! They should at least give you something the same price or upgrade you for the same price! At least put you in another Deluxe resort. Don't let it go, keep calling and making sure you talk to someone in an upper position. Good luck, let us know how you make out. :thumbsup2 PS I see they offered you the GF?? If its the same type room I would take that, GF looks fabulous! I bet you would end up very happy.

First off I want to say I am sorry this is happening to you. I agree with the many others "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". Be firm and see what you can do. I mean..they expect us to cancel 6 days out..don't you deserve the same courtesy of notification?

Secondly-I want to ask the rest of you-is this something that happens often?

We have a trip booked at CSR for Mid May. Considering this is a convention resort-could I get bumped if there were a large convention?

Also-do many of you book a longer room only trip to plan your flight around and then cancel the days you don't need? I just added days to do this b/c airfare right now from MA to FL is crazy!!

Thanks..and good luck to all of you that get bumped.
Ruth

Well we ended up taking the GV CON, they said they were going to refund the difference between LV CO and GVC (well duh) I also asked to speak to the Manager and he told me that, all they do in this office is re book for the resorts. If I want I express my anger with someone, it's the resort that I need to talk to when I arrive.

OP..I would not go for MK view with concierge access at Polynesian. It would be very inconvient.

We felt the same way, like I am going to drag the kids halfway through the resort for a cookie( I don't think so)

200! Wow. We're booked for the 9th for a Poly lagoon view but haven't heard a peep.
It was lagoon view Conceriege, not standard LV, there is no problem with that availability.. We arrive on the 10th maybe wil see each other :wave2:

I hope you have a wonderful trip! I know you had your heart set on LVC at Poly, but I don't think you will be disappointed with GVC. I would definitely drop some heavy hints about being bumped, your daughter's b-day, your anniversary, etc. Disney really needs to do something to make this right for you. There must be some horribly glitch in their system for this to happen to 200 people?! I hope everything works out for the best and you end up having a wonderful trip.

Do you think you were bumped because you are on your friends Cast Member Discount? (or do I have you confused with someone else?)

I know my travel agent said that if she travels on a Travel Agent rate, they are the first bumped, relocated or denied boarding (plane and cruise). Which is why she will not use the TA discount on cruises or air.

I have booked extra days in the past until I got airfare all set. I would think you'd be OK since CSR is so big.

Have you looked at SW for air? I've got non stop RT from Providence RI for May 1 to 4th for $115.60. That was a ding fare but before the ding I had $130.60 which isn't bad.

I'm glad I went for a lagoon view rather than concierge lagoon. I requested the Tahiti building because I think that's just the most perfect view there is.

If you spot a handsome young boy being followed by a doting aunt and grandmother, that's us. We're taking him for his fourth birthday--also on the 18th--although we'll be back home by then. We're planning to spoil him rotten before returning him to his unsuspecting parents.

Interesting that they're offering people from CBR value resorts. I thought they were all booked this weekend which is why I got stuck paying for a preferred room.

Well this explains why I couldn't find any rooms at CBR or AKL next week! I would ask for compenstation for being downgraded...it is not your fault for the downgrading.

I think you are correct, I believe the OP booked this with a CM discount of a friend, so I guess that is possible that employees would be bumped before a guest paying full rack rate or a non employee discount.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice, it's nice to see everyone pretty much reacted the same way I did...

When I asked about if the cm discount had anything to do with it she said absolutely not, she stated 35 other guests at Poly alone , all of whom were paying full rate, were also bumped it had more to do with who booked the last..

Thanks again

We found out upon arrival(late in the day) that "some guest have decided not to vacate the LV concierge rooms" so we would be bumped to GV for our entire stay. To say the least, I was disappointed. If I had known, I would not have come down. I do not necessarily blame the Poly for this because rude guests are not their doing. And just before someone asks- no, this was not a group wtih an illness or other problem but 2 rooms who just decided to stay on a bit longer. The LV is very important to me as our family spends at least half of our visit at the resort. I will say that we checked in later in the day which I never did again after that experience. What was most unpleasant was the difficulty that I had with getting WDW to refund the price difference between GV and LV. I guess I'm not great with surprises when I'm paying over $500/night for a hotel. I was also unhappy earlier this month when the main pool was closed at the Poly and they clearly had notice but chose not to call their guests to give fair warning. I really do love the Poly and realize that others are probably more easygoing about these "surprises." Have a great day. Threehearts

PLVC is $550 per night, GF $620 & CT 14th $515.

Good grief....people pay those prices!!!!! And then others wonder why Disney World is getting so expensive!

and that's "value" season rates

We're paying $585 for Boardwalk in May. Fortunately, we can do it but it still bothers me to spend that kind of money per night.

We stayed Poly GVC and LOVED it. For myself it wasn't worth the extra $100 a night for the view of MK. At CR Tower MK view is a must. The view you will have at GVC is that of the quiet pool. At night is simply beautiful to sit on your balcony (1st fl patio, 2nd fl no balcony, and 3rd fl has a balcony) the tiki laterns are lit and while its a bit dark its so romantic. I would call the Concierge desk (407-824-2466) at Poly and ask them whats going on. Explain that this is a dream vacation and see what they can do. If they have to downgrade you they should (as everyone has suggested) compensate you. Maybe free Stitch breakfast, Cindy's slipper dessert and chocolate covered strawberries sent to your room, free dinner at 'Ohana. Something to bring the magic back to your vacation.

I wish you the best.pixiedust:

Please let us know what happens.

I would hope that Disney is discounting your stay due to their mistake.

This just stinks. I know it happens but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow when it happens to you. Please don't let this ruin your vacation, go and have a great time.

I don't get why a hotel would allow this. Wouldn't it make more sense to tell those who decide to stay a few days that there is no available space for them to stay. Rather than bump those who already planned and paid ahead of time? Doesn't make sense. :confused3

i'm surprised we haven't gotten a call

we're arriving tomorrow for 5 days at the Poly LVConc and only booked it in January

we should start a tread about who at poly conc this w/e
