Just Got A Call From Disney

I am so upset and I don't know what I want to do. I just received a call saying that they overbooked a bunch of rooms on property. We were booked for LGV CONC. They told me our options were either take GV CONC or take the CTR or GF..This is a surprise trip for my family and we are celebrating dh and mine annivesary and dd 1st bday...I just dont kno what to do

Any advice appreciated

I am assuming that you are supposed to be staying at the Poly. If the Poly is where you wanted, and I'm sure it wasn't just for the lagoon view, then take the Poly concierge Garden view. There is the possibility that you will get a lagoon view if someone else cancels by the time you check in. The garden view is also nice. Grab a hammock on the beach and you'll still have the lagoon view. Don't stress out over it. It's not worth it. If you're flexible, and willing to try something new, go for the Grand Floridian. It's a beautiful resort in it's own right, and with your two beautiful princesses, you'll fit right in.

See if they'll give you GF main building for your PLVC price. BTW I'd be very upset too

Man I would be mad. I would demand a lagoon view at the GF. They should UPGRADE you after overbooking. And how did you get to be the lucky one that gets the bump? Be Loud and demanding.(in a polite way of course) The squeeky wheel will get the oil in this case I bet.

I would simply call the Poly and explain to them that this is rather short notice and why this trip is so special for you. Maybe you will speak to someone nice and can do something for you. Regardless,I would take the GV CONC at the Poly IF I had to. I would rather be at the Poly than at the Grand and definately not at the CR.
I sincerely hope that everything works out for you and that you and your family have a wonderful vacation. Whatever happens, just remember you will be at Disney and magic is around every corner.

Yes I am leaving in 3 days nothing last minute...I dont think I want to stay at GF , it just never appealed to me or the family... SO right now it's between CR conc which is all over the place cause of the rehab or GV CON at Poly or MK view poly with access to the Concg, like I am drag kids over to the building for a drink...urggggggggghh, I 'll letg you all know what happens

Seriously, if you can get a 14th Floor concierge room facing MK...you will NOT be disappointed...*trust* me. I'd take 14th floor over LVC any day!

Java my dd turns 1 on the 18th too!! yeah for the 18th... Well I just got off the phone with Disney again and CR mk view is booked so the only thing they can give me is view of the parking lot or just of bay lake...oh well.. So we are just going to do GV CON.. I guess it's better they called me now than starting off our trip on a bad note.. I am so surprised no one else on the boards who is going around this time frame has said anything yet because according to the cm over 200 guests at Poly, CBR, and AKL were overbooked... In any event I'll keep you updated on our trip we will have lap top with us...

call them back now and ask if there will be any lagoon view conceirge rooms available at ANYTIME during your trip. if they say no, ask again when you get there and check in at the conceirge desk (if anything will be available the next or the next day). We had wanted a 3rd floor MK view last year (MK view being just a request of course), and when we checked in conceirge we got 2nd floor (no balcony, which to us really stinks) and a big tree blocking pretty much everything. we were told everything on the 3rd floor was booked. ok, fair enough. BUT i was so disappointed i decided to walk down and nicely ask again at the conceirge desk, and they offered that the next day and for the rest of our stay, exactly what i wanted was available. we got a great room the next day. if i didn't ask again, we wouldn't have known. and i assume they don't want to offer that info because lots of people would be switching rooms every day, a pain for everyone. So call and ask now... you never know!

Disney created the problem by overbooking. They compounded the problem by overbooking a room category that doesn't lend itself to offering a complimentary upgrade as a solution. Overbook GV and you can upgrade to LV. Upgrade standard view at AKL and Disney can upgrade to pool or Savannah view.

You're really entitled to compensation. Many hotels will comp your room for the nights you're downgraded. At a minimum you should be receiving a large discount.

I hope Disney didn't bump you so they could re-sell your room at a MK view rate.

PLVC is $550 per night, GF $620 & CT 14th $515. At the very least they should offer something comparable to what she booked or like you said a large discount on her downgraded room category.

The MK view issue shouldn't be a problem as there is no seperate category for that view in the concierge building.

OP..I would not go for MK view with concierge access at Polynesian.It would be very inconvient.

I just called my mom and she told me that the Carribbean Beach is way overbooked.... We have the choice of a value hotel ( I dont think so!) or Saratoga Springs of which I really have no desire to stay due to location. This is really frusterating, since we are arriving this FRIDAY!!

200! Wow. We're booked for the 9th for a Poly lagoon view but haven't heard a peep.

Uggh, I hope they give you some of your money back. I would be furious. I hope this is not a new trend.My friend will be very disappointed as AKL is where she wants to stay.
