Just finished my phone interview...STILL nervous

I just had my phone interview for the Fall 2011 program beginning in August. I honestly don't know if I did well. I think I had a few really good answers but I think some of my answers were too short. Like when she asked what my favorite park/ride was I just told her and really didn't go into detail. Then I told her I would be open to doing Mousekeeping but that my work experience could be used better in my first choices. So now I'm really scared that I'm going to get mousekeeping because I applied sort of late in the game. Ugh. This is agony!

So how long did it take for you to hear back with acceptance/rejection?

It took me 17 days after my phone interview to accepted into the Merchandise postion.

Honestly, I was in the same boat as you, after my interview I was freaking out, I wasn't sure if I answered the question thorough enough. I was really nervous, spoke fast, and tried my best to smile the whole time. After about a week of freaking out over my phone interview, I sat down and gave it some thought and it made me feel better.

Good Luck! Hope you make it!:goodvibes

Just think of it as out of your hands right now. There's nothing more you can do so just try not to think about it. (Very hard I know!)

It only took me six days after my interview to get my intive e-mail to attractions, but I'm going to go ahead and say that my boat is not the one many people were on. :confused3

However, I felt the exact same way after my interview. Like, I thought it may have gone well but I thought that many of the answers I gave sounded rehersed and that I talked too much. She had to tell me she had no more time at the end but apparently I did something right. I honestly tried my hardest not to think about it but there were so many signs and Disney ideas floating around that it was very hard.

Wish you the best of luck and hope you get your top choices!

I knew exactly what role I wanted, so I knew I had to prepare. I asked around about tricky questions in general and ones specific to BBB hostess. I made myself about 3 pages of notes containing my personal information, past work information, the 3 roles I applied for and descriptions of why I would be good in them. I also wrote answers to the tricky questions I found. It was so helpful. I didn't read directly off the paper, but having something in front of me to look at if I choked was calming. For anyone who hasn't had their interview yet, do this! And make sure to smile the entire time and show how much you want it. I got BBB hostess (my #1 choice) and I found out in 7 days via e-mail.

I was told by my interviewer that I would hear via e-mail, but I never got an email, just the packet in the mail. Either way though, she said I'd hear within 3-4 weeks and I heard back within 3 and a half. I was shocked it took so long because I was one of the first people to apply and I feel like one of the first to have a phone interview. I just assumed that early in the game, there'd be less people to sort through and I'd hear back a little quicker, but nope.

I know how it feels to reflect back on your interview though and want to kick yourself for how you handled some of it. It'll be okay though, I'm sure of it. Best of Luck!

I feel so nervous after my phone interview too. After hearing about how everyone's interviewers were so nice and and upbeat, I felt pretty confident about the interview. I had word documents with my previous work experience, job responsibilities, and charts that matched my skills with the skills of my top two choices. I prepared myself for every question that was out there. I had a lot of good answers for questions about me.

When she called, I began the interview with a smile and remained enthusiastic throughout. Every time there was a chance to add on to an answer one of the points I was trying to hit during the interview to stress both my passion for disney and interest in the vacation planner role, I did it. But then, she kept asking me the same questions over and over. I told her about my experience in sales and about how that prepared me for this role, and then she's ask, do you have any sales experience? She kept doing that, which made me think she wasn't really listening to me or maybe she was just reading off questions. Sadly, it threw me off balance and I lost a bit of my confidence. But I kept going with, well like I've said, I've worked ticket sales and then also said that as the treasurer of the People For Animal Well-Being organization on campus, I've also handled a large amount of money for bake sales and campus fundraisers.

And then came the question about whether or not I'd be interested in QSFB. I'd planned to politely decline because I honestly felt more qualified for my top 3 choices. But at this point, I heard "I'd be open to it, but I'm more interested in..." come out of my mouth. I was so nervous they wouldn't take me if i said no. that's when she said, "So you'd do it, but you wouldn't like it?" And just the tone of her voice made me think that I said something wrong.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I've done business interviews, behavioral interviews, all types since I was 15, when I walked into Baylor and did my first interview and got into my first summer program. But for some reason, I feel like I did terrible at this. I feel disappointed. At the end of the interview I asked her a few questions about what she enjoyed most about working at Disney, and listened to her answer, and said, Yes! Exactly, that how I feel too, I think Disney is...etc. I tried to have a short conversation with her at the end with the questions and to actually connect with her. But I'd say something and would wait to see what she says, but she was silent that whole time, so it ended up being just me talking and trying not to feel awkward. In the end, she seemed restless and I thought she probably had to go, so I thanked her for what she shared with me and said I really appreciated her time.

But after this, maybe the disney college program isn't for me after all. If all this want is workers who do QSFB and not college students who want to build their resume and learn from Disney as a successful business model, then I'm not suited for this. :(

I'm sorry to hear this! :sad2: But you shouldn't have felt pressured to say yes to QSFB, I politely declined as well and we moved on with the interview. As far as the DCP goes, this is the first step to something bigger. It might not be the kind of internship you are looking for or used to, but I believe it helps you network with managers from different departments. My friend's cousin started off in the DCP, switched to full time and is now one of the mangers over at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Don't be discouraged if you start off flipping burgers and cleaning toilets, because if you put your heart to it, then you can go so much further! :yay:

Yeah I had almost four pages of notes typed out. My interviewer only asked two out of all the (maybe 15) questions I was prepared to answer. But the notes really did help calm my nerves because I felt more prepared. I guess there really is nothing I can do now besides hope for the best :thumbsup2

That's exactly what happened to me. I was like "what are you saying?! Say no!" Haha. But who knows maybe you will get your first choice. I think a lot of the interviewers must seem disinterested because they're sort of just reading from a script.

Like everyone else, I was asked if I would do QSFB. To be fair, I did have it checked off because from the very beginning I checked off any role that I would do that I thought wouldn't kill me, but not necessarily that I'd enjoy. Because this was what our campus presenter suggested to do. Big mistake. I got in of course, but was given QSFB.

I think being open for roles you're not interested in because you want to get into the CP is a mistake. Because Murphy's Law will have you get the role you want least. To anyone else, I'd say stick to your guns, only agree to do roles you want to do, and hope for the best. Unless you genuinely don't mind what you're doing, just as long as you get into the program.

I'm currently trying to get over my disappointment about QSFB and just be excited about the CP in general because I know some aren't as lucky and get declined.

I had my phone interview March 2 and I wasn't asked any questions regarding any particular roles or that pertains to Disney really. I was just asked about my past work expierence. I had 3 jobs all dealing with children. She also never asked if I wanted to do QSFB or anything like that. My top roles were Attractions, Character Attendent and Life Guard. I really hope I get one of those. :) Good Luck to all those that applied. I know im very anxious to get my email or purple folder:eek:

Hey Tigger1234,

I hope you get the role you want! I just wanted to put it out there that the only job I've had is as a nanny, which is my current job. Childcare everyday, so I thought it would show high responsibility and they'd consider me for the role I wanted. But when I called back and asked why I got QSFB, I was told it was because of my "limited" work experience. So, I really don't know how they place people when their work history includes childcare/child related jobs. Since you've had 3 jobs and everything though, you may fare a lot better than I did! Good Luck!

Im just worried because she never asked me any questions other than the ones regarding my work. She did ask though if I would be interested in Fall, I stated that I would like Fall Advantage. I said yes though. Do people usually get their first choice though?

First time I applied I got my first choice (Merch) and wasn't asked about QSFB or any other roles.

I was asked at the end if I would consider custodial or QSFB. I politely said I would prefer not to be placed in those roles but that I would do so if it was my only chance to participate in the program. I think you're safe with that answer, cause I got my first choice.

I got my first choice, Merchandise.

I got Fall Advantage when I asked for it. I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to get if that's what you wanted.

Maybe other people have more factual information. I've just never heard of someone saying they wanted Advantage, but only got Fall or vice versa.
