We leave on the 4th of september for 2 weeks in the AKL, now its our wee ones birthday on the 21st of September, and we thought about leaving the week after cause we thought it would be nice for here to spend her 8th birthday at Disney.
Now heres the question, that would have meant us flying from Belfast on September 11th, and I didn`t fancy this. I know its stupid but I just didn`t feel comfortable flying out on 9/11 as its become known.

Am I being stupid or would other people have had the same thoughts.

I have flown on 9/11 twice since the attacks.

The first time I didn't even realise until someone else looked shocked when I told them my holiday dates.

The second time I figured I was fine the first time and so it didn't worry me in the slightest.

If anything I figure it's an even safer day to travel!

I can't say I would have a problem flying on that day either.

Agreed. The same as flying straight after it happened. Everyone will be high alert because it is the anniversary, and will probably be checking and double checking everything.

I would be ok flying that day too but it is what ever you feel comfortable with :)

My first ever day in MK WDW was 9/11 - the real one. Never had any issues then, and wouldn't now. The nasty people aren't likely to do the same thing twice. I may even have flown on that date since, I can't remember. Whatever you feel comfortable with though.

Agreed, whatever you feel comfortable with - it would never stop me, and as the others said it will be the highest level of security on that day.

If I thought about all these things in too much detail....9/11...swine flu.....the economy etc etc I don't think I would make it out of the house!:lmao:

I agree with what the others have said it wouldn't stop me flying. However if you would be worrying about it then I wouldn't.

It's down to whatever you're personally comfortable with ~ last trip to WDW we flew into Gatwick on Friday 13th and lots of people were horrified when I told them but it didn't bother us.

I'm flying out on September 11th. I think it's just another day and, like other people have said, the security is likely to be tighter anyway.

Feel like a big girls blouse now :)

I`m not the best flyer in the world at the best of times, and it just didn`t feel right. Don`t think anything would happen and honestly not worried particularly about terrorists, it just didn`t feel right to me.

Hard to explain and I daresay if it came to a choice between not going on flying on 9/11 I`d be on the plane like a shot.

I have flown on 9/11 before & it didn't bother me but then I like flying. If you are not overly keen on flying then I can see why you would feel apprehensive about that date....please don't feel silly about it. We all have our fears & little quirks. :goodvibes

I think there are a lot of people who would just not fly on this date so don't feel like a big girls blouse!!:):)

Who are you flying with?

i am terrified of flying (more accurately crashing), but i've flown several times on 9/11 ...the rates are often cheaper - so clearly there are others avoiding the date....
as far as i'm concerned, it's dangerous whatever day you fly, may as well enjoy the better fares...

Haha, don't feel silly about it. As everyone else has said it's completely up to you.

I get pretty anxious travelling too, and if travelling on this date makes you more anxious then it's smart to avoid it! :)

Probably if i'd have realised when I booked the first tickets I might have reconsidered, but because I didn't realise the date until it was all booked I just carried on as normal, and it was fine. :)

Who has direct flights from Belfast after Sept 4th? :confused3

I thought that Sept 4th was the last direct flight date, but I could be pickled.

I think Thomas Cook fly direct on the 11th, but you have to fly back on the 18th.
We went with Virgin through Gatwick last year and it was an option early on.

Ive flown on September 11th last year, I arnt supersticious.
If something like thats going to happen it could be any day, so go and enjpy it
