Just bumped from OKW Grand Villa

I am posting this for my DW.

I just got the worst phone call ever.

Member services called and said they could not give us the Grand Villa which we booked 8 months ago.

How could this happen and Disney not plan this in advance?

This was to be a special trip as we were introducing Disney to my family. We have been talking about taking them down for two years and when I could finally get everyone together we finally booked the trip.

We have been talking up the Grand Villa for ever and It would have been our first. We are both soooooo very upset.

MS offered us 2 two bedrooms, but only charge us for 1. That would mean we would get back 100 points. Big deal.

I know some people book 2 two bedrooms for more space. If I wanted 2 two bedrooms I would have booked 2 two bedrooms.
I wanted us all under one roof. MS said they will try to put them as close together as possible, but you know what that means. Blah, Blah.

Their offer is fine, but I don't care about getting back 100 points.

What is my recourse here in similar situations?

Please help.

Ouch!! How did this happen, did they give a reason for this, what are the dates, it may sound like I'm being nosey, but did they give you a valid reason for the bump!! I would call back and tell them you want more, like maybe park passes or something, I would be pretty mad if this happened to me. Unless the building burned down or something, what could their reason be?

What a rip. Maybe someone here will have a GV that week and trade you for 2 2BR's or 1 2BR and 100 of your points or something?

Refurbishment. Unforseen refurbishment.

Refurbishment means to me schedule maintenance.

I have a feeling I am not getting true story.

And one month to the day we are to arrive. It is durning the food and wine festival. So there is slim pickins at other resorts.

I was wondering the same question.. Did they give you a reason for the bump? Maybe the room went out of inventory because it needed repairs. Or, the other thing I thought is not as easy to accept.. Isn't there some big press event at Disney World in October? I certainly hope they didn't bump you out of a Grand Villa in order to give it to a certain high ranking Disney Executive. This is just wild speculation on my part. I would certainly want a reason from MS though...


Edited.. I see the big press event is earlier in the month.. Maybe it is the Golf Tournament.

There is the golf challange. Maybe Tiger Woods now has my room.

I would want to see the rooms under refurbishment when I got there. Make them prove their case.

You have every right to be STEAMING MAD!!! I agree with ClarabelleCow. You deserve more than a "2 for 1"!!! You made the reservation far in advance--8 months out is a LONG time!!

You are right, there are slim pickins during that time.

I read today that someone had a 2 br booked at BCV and they overbooked so they were offered the Presidential Suite. I don't know if they were paying with points or cash.

This is a pretty big deal. Grand Villas aren't easy to get and all of the planning you have done.

They can't guarantee you will be all together as a family in two 2 br's. Maybe that is really important to you.

Ask them if there is a big suite available somewhere where you all would be under one roof like you have planned for. That's what I would do.

Sure, maybe there is a valid reason why the room is down but you don't have to accept their first offer. This is just my opinion.

Let us know what happens.

Since they called so close to your travel time, I doubt it was a scheduled maintanance. Sometimes major things happen that can't be fixed in a short time. I would HOPE that is the case here. I do think you need to call them back and express your disatisfaction. My experience has been that they try their very best to make everything right by you.

She had said there is several Grand Villas/ Buildings affected.

She said she had some more phone calls to make.

You are right. Something BIG must have happened.

if they offer 2 two-bedrooms, they ought to at least make sure they're in the same building.

So sorry to hear about you being bumped. I agree with everyone that you SHOULD be upset, I would be in tears!!! I can't imagine how this could happen?!?

OKW can MAYBE put you in the same building but not under the same roof as far as room goes.

What are they going to offer the other people if they don't accept 2 rooms.

What do you think you are going to do?

Last January we requested to be near our friends who were booking on their own points. They did the same, and we had 2 bedroom units right next door to each other in the same building. Not the same stairway, but that would be impossible. I have always found them very amenable to requests like that.

I would be surprised if it were Tiger Woods. He owns a Mansion at Isleworth in Windermere which is only about 15 minutes north of Disney World.

It is really surprising that it is more than one Grand Villa since they are spread over different buildings.. I could see one building having a leaky roof or something and they have to close the building down.. This is a very strange situation. I wonder if it is dignataries, or something.. Very strange.

I agree with the others here. Call again and ask for more detail and for what you need to make you and your family happy.

They are working hard to try to make us happy. I have no doubt about that.

When I talk to them on the phone I can hear she does not want to make these phone calls.

Their latest offer is to cover all the points for the trip (281) and be able to bank all of the points.

I know this is a good deal, but I still feel cheated somehow.

I would be mad if.
1. People are right. Someone more important grabbeb my Villa.
2. Cash Villas were still available.
