I just booked:
1. BUF-MCO Dec 17 (high season day I assume) for 4 passengers (me, DH, DD, and DS). Already SWA was showing some fares not available (I assume SWA has made these unavailable since it is a high season day). According to other posts/boards I have read this is what SWA does. So I didn't actually get up to late this morning. SWA has blocked out some fares/flights.
Booked the morning NS flight I wanted at $99 OW each plus tax.

2. MCO-BUF Dec 31 (VERY high season day due to the amount of low fare categories SWA is making unavailable). I had to book DH at a fun fare $133 OW plus tax. I have read on flyertalk that SWA allows this date to be booked for their free flights (rapid reward members) and the three days surrounding it are blacked out (rapid reward members free flights). I was advised to book this at whatever price since it probably won't ever go on sale.

3. I have YET to book me, DD and DS MCO-BUF for Jan 7. It is showing available today at $99 OW but SWA has not blacked out any of the flights/fares so I assume this would be more of a low season day. (although it makes me wonder since so many schools don't go back until Jan 9/06).

I am hoping that the Dec 17 BUF-MCO fares may eventually go on sale or DING, then I will use the ticketless travel funds (SWA credit) from these fares to book Jan 7 MCO-BUF.
Also, does anyone think that the Jan 7 fares could ever go to $49 OW? I can't remember what SWA fares were for early Jan last year.

Sorry so long.
Can anyone give me their opinions on what I just did?
Would you have done something different?
Thank you so much for any advice/suggestions.

I am bouncing off the walls over here today. I am so excited I booked some flights. It just makes the trip so much more real somehow.

We paid $79 OW on SWA from BUF to MCO last Jan. We booked these tickets the August before. However, there was an absolutely amazing deal that came out early Dec for $29 OW ! I doubt that you'll see it again, but you might see something less than the $99.

I would book your January 7th flights now. They may come down again, but why take the chance that you won't get a flight?
We paid $25 each way from Jan 4th to the 12th of 2005. Those fares came out the 2nd week in December.

Given the price of jet fuel I think I'd book now. I'd rather figure out how to use a credit then kick myself if the fares go up.

Suggestion, if you want to wait keep checking for 8 seats. When the availability of $99 seats drops below the 8 book immediately

I'm going to book December 11 and 17th today! Thank goodness I checked the Dis today!

I booked Dec. 10-17th at the $99 rate. I figure I have the times I want and if the fare drops I will use the credit for my May trip.

Thats the thing, I really don't have any intention of going anywhere (besides Dec trip) in the next 12 months, so that is why I am unsure about booking the Jan 7 flights and then ending up with a credit I could not use.

Sometimes they will put the credit back on your credit card.
