WELL, TOOK THE PLUNGE AND BOOKED FIRST CRUISE EVER. 7 DAY LEAVING 3/2. WE ARE FLYING INTO ORLANDO MCO 3/1. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO GET HOTEL AT DISNEY AND USE THEIR TRANSFERING - OR SHOULD WE GET A ROOM AT THE AIRPORT HOTEL AND USE A CAR SERVICE (I.E. TIFFANY TOWNCAR) TO BRING US TO THE PORT. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Ok we did the 7.7.01 magic. Arrived the day before and stayed at OKW because we own there. Rented a car from Avis at the airport 35$$ dropped off at avis near the dock and rented one for the return trip to disney or airport. We had all day til our flight on purpose, so we didnt have to rush. Wanted the convience of stopping and getting there when we wanted so we decided the car was the best deal. It was a total of 8 - two families. We got two cars. It cost about 80.00 for each family. THe bus would have 50$ each? First time we did the three day we rented a car and parked it at the ship terminal. It was cheaper to rent for the whole week. Hope this helps. Leslie H

You will love the cruise. Make sure you have a sweater/jacket for the theatres, it was July and we were freezing. Had to get pool towels to cover up to keep warm. Any questions just ask.

You might want to try this question on the Cruise Board - I'm sure lots of people there will have suggestions.

My suggestion would be to look at renting a car from Avis. There's an Avis drop-off location at the Raddison Hotel in Port Canaveral, and they run a shuttle from the Avis drop off right to the ship. Doing a 1 way rental with Avis to get to the port, and another one way rental to get back to the Airport is usually cheaper than the car or shuttle services.

There are lots of hotel options, so that really depends on how much you want to spend. The Raddison at the port seems to be a popular option with a lot of people. Also I seem to recall a deal with the Hyatt at the airport where you can stay there and still use the Disney transportation (not sure I got the right hotel though). Staying onsite at WDW or at the Airport are obviously going to be more expensive options; and I recall that the Raddison isn't all that cheap either.

We flew in and out of Tampa; because we arrived so late and left so early, we picked a Fairfield Inn in the Tampa area and stayed overnight on arrival and departure.

For comfort and convenience, I would select the towncar service after staying at the airport that night. If you are looking for a better price, it depends on the number of people in your party. Usually, the pricing for the towncar service is better if you have at least four in your party. It is a little less expensive to use DCL transfers if you have three or less.

WE HAVE THREE IN OUR PARTY. WHAT IS THE NUMBER YOU CALL RE: THE TRANSFERS? I THINK WE MIGHT END UP GETTING A HOTEL IN CAPE CANAVARAL. THAT WAY WE WILL BE RIGHT THERE IN THE MORNING TO GET ON LINE EARLY.

If you want to stay in the Port Canaveral area the night before your cruise, you should go with a towncar service. I have had good service from Tiffany. With DCL transfers, your only options are pickup at the airport or at certain WDW resorts.
