Just back Tour Groups, EVC's and Strollers

On our last trip in December, the poor Bus Driver was almost hoarse from repeating to people with strollers that it DISNEYS RULE that the strollers HAVE to be folded before boarding the bus. Obviously many just looked at hima as if he had two heads and continued to try and wheel their strollers on board. Its also the rule for the boats that travel from EPCOT to HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS.

I have to agree that the strollers are what have bugged me the most on our last couple of trips. They are getting bigger and bigger and take up twice the room as a person does on a bus, even when they are folded.

I'm one of those people who think you should wait to bring kids until they are old enough to experience it, not tiny ones who just sleep, eat and poop all day and really have no concept of where they are. I understand the folks who bring strollers for little ones who can also walk, those strollers are usually smaller and fold up nicely. It's those infant 18 wheelers that drive me bonkers!!!!

Do you also think people with disabilities shouldn't go because they can't fully enjoy the parks either? WOW!

I understand what you're trying to say, but what about families with several children? Should Janie, Johnnie and June have to wait until they're teenagers so that little Joanna is old enough to walk the parks?

FI and I plan on taking a couple years' break from Disney after this trip, but honestly, if my sister and her husband take us up on the offer to take our niece in 2014, and we just so happen to have a child at that point, I have NO qualms taking a baby to Disney.

I mean, the babies are better behaved than the BTG anyway

Are you talking about the Duggars? JK, you just made me think of them.:rotfl:

The PP was just stating her opinion in a non threatening way. They did not say you had to subscribe to that particular way of thinking. I don't share the poster's opinion but I was not offended by it either. Some people are just too sensitive.

Wow, I happen to take my children when younger because I love to experience the excitement in their eyes. Not for them to remember it. I also have multiple children so have a large stroller. Also, one of my kids has medical problems that can't be seen with the naked eye. What should I do with her not take her?[/QUOTE]

Nope by all means go and use as large of stroller as you want just don’t try and squeeze it on a bus but bring your car or rent one instead.

Wow! And at what age to you believe a child is old enough to experience it? Should those with children of multiple ages just stay home until the youngest reach this magical age?

This is my opinion. I think Disney shares mine as well. Disney parks are for
all ages, young and old. Who are we to decide when someone is old enough or too old to enjoy a trip?

On another note, I am one of those who own what many refer to as an 18 wheeler stroller. I am not sure why my stroller causes problems for others. It is a stroller. My boys were very comfortable in it. It steers better than cheap strollers thereby decreasing the chances of me running into somebody else. It has a great recline for my boys to nap, has a huge sunshade, and I can push it one handed while holding one of my boys if needed. What gets me is that people are at WDW and complaining about strollers.:confused3

No people are complaining about over sized strollers on buses where they are too large to fold up nicely and take up to much room on already crowded buses!

I will partially disagree with you here. People should not have to rent cars just because they bring a stroller. But, if someone like myself has a large stroller wishes to ride the bus, there is no reason why they cannot do so. However, I think it is reasonable that if they are last in line and the bus is full, then they wait for the next one. If they push themselves on, yes, that is rude. But if they get on a bus that has room for the stroller when they walk on, no one should complain that the bus is crowded as they continue to push themselves on and then say that the stroller is the cause. There are all kinds of rude and inconsiderate people at WDW. Some have strollers and some do not. I very rarely used the buses before I had children and it had nothing to do with people using strollers, or Ecvs, or wheelchairs, or any other mobility device.

It is not only that those oversized strollers take up room but they are also are a safety issue. they crowd up the isles and do not fit properly on the buses.
I have no issues with strollers that fold up nicely and a free from blocking the isles but the large oversized ones should not be allowed on buses and if you are that insistent on using one than find alternate transportation.

We will just have to agree to disagree. However, it is not my opinion or yours that matters. Disney seems to have no problems with them and until they do people with large strollers are free to use the buses.

Eta: hmmm, not sure it is quoting as being my text. Weird as I quoted another poster.

The busses will be crowded whether there are strollers on there or not. So, it really is a non-issue. As soon as the bus is full, it will move on and another one on its way. Strollers, people, wheelchairs, ECVs all take up space and yes a stroller is as necessary as any other mobility device, for a baby cannot just walk around the parks.

So because you now work for Disney and make the rules for them, I as a paying guest am not allowed to use the free transportation provided by Disney simply because YOU don't like my stroller? Who are YOU to decide if my stroller is ok or not? Not everyone has a rental car, nor do they want one. That is part of the benefit of being at Disney. There isn't a need for one. How about this, if YOU have such a problem being on the buses with strollers, children etc. why don't YOU rent a car and use it instead.

Well said!

Ok this thread has a technical problem. When we're quoting text it is quoting the wrong authors. Anyone know how to correct this?

I am renting 2 double strollers for our upcoming trip and I have no qualms about it. I am not breaking any rules and I'd like to think that I do my best to be upstanding person.

However, as my grandpa always told me, You can't please all of the people all of the time.

So if you despise me, my large yet young family and my two big strollers so be it. I am doing nothing wrong. I also suggest to anyone who wants to judge me that you walk a mile in my shoes before you open your mouth.

Maybe not threatening but the OP knew that there would be conflict when she posted. Just sayin'...

I suspect some will regret their decisions once they are faced with the fact that they can't possibly carry two sleeping babies, their bags, and hold on to two wheeled La-Z-Boys at the same time.

But hey - they can always ask a stranger to help ! Other people don't matter until they can come in handy anyway. ;)

My mom & I are the queen of suckers for this. We'll be the first ones to offer to hang on to a stroller (or a baby, in my mom's case) even though the same family rolled on our feet seconds before AND gave us a nasty look for it. On the bright side, it makes for some funny memories. My mom had an 18 month old on her lap once from MK all the way back to POP and when we got there, she had to ask the mom if she really wanted him back. Then when we ran into them at POP again very early one morning the mom said she was rethinking it after all :)
