I know what I'm going to say has been said already. But I want to reinforce it. So please bear with me. I know everyone knows what the OP is talking about. There will be people who take the wheelchairs/ECVs just to "get on rides quicker". But the Majority of the people who use wheelchairs/ECVs DO need them. Please let's not judge people who use them. You do not know their medical history. So let's show them some compassion. I can bet they would rather be walking around the park instead of having to use a wheelchair or ECV. Besides, as was also mentioned, using a wheelchair/EVC will NOT get you to the front of the line quicker usually. All of AK and MGM (and the newer rides at MK and EPCOT) are mainstreamed. This means that the wheelchair/ECV fits in the regular line with everyone else. For the rides that don't (ex. Small World), the rider starts off in the regular line and then goes to the waiting area. In this case, it may take users longer to ride (especially if they can't transfer) because there's only 1 wheelchair accessible boat. So for the most part, using a wheelchair will NOT get you on rides quicker. So please. Don't judge people. Just imagine yourself having to use one. I know I don't.

Why should a stranger be allowed to tell my FIL that he is not allowed to enjoy the parks?
Why should a stranger be allowed to tell (dictate?) to anyone that they are not allowed to enjoy the parks like everyone else? People need to quit passing judgment on others, especially the overwhelming majority of people at Disney that they do not know. Until you've walked a mile or lived a day or two in that other person's body, don't make assumptions about what they should or should not do. In this instance, ignorance is definitely NOT bliss.

This thread isn't helpful to anyone planning a trip. It's really more of a debate now, so I'm going to close it.

You can start a new thread about this topic on our community board, if you wish, and continue the discussion there.
