Hey there guys. Just back from our trip and even while I was walking on Main Street I told my DH that when I got home I was getting RIGHT ON THE COMPUTER to address this issue. I, MYSELF, am a stroller pushing MOMMY!!!! I have seen SOOOO many threads about RUDE people with strollers!!!
Let me tell you my story. Had DD (2) and DS (6) sitting in the stroller!!! The couple that were ahead of me JUST STOP!!!!!!!!
It took all that I could do!!! Being the NICE STROLLER MOMMY that I am to keep from RUNNING them OVER!!!!! Then they just continue to stand there and admire their MAP!!!!! and look at me like I fell out of the big tree at the bottom of the bridge coming out of Adventure Land!!!! when I said excuse me!!! It was crowded, not to mention that my ankles just got CRACKED by the stroller behind me!!!!
Somewhere on this board, there has to be someone that will agree with me that NO MATTER how considerate YOU try to be with your stroller there will always be someone that you WANT to run over!!!!!!
I always try to be nice with my stroller. I do not want to be know as the "STROLLER DEMON!!!"
Also can we make a RULE that states DO NOT CLIMB OVER ANYONE'S STROLLER!!!!!!!!!! ? People have a stoller because USUALLY there is a CHILD in there!!!!

OK. The personal space issue. I understand that at WDW I am THROWN into a melting pot!!! I understand TONS of different culture and I respect that. . . UNTIL my 14 year old sister looks at me. . . RED FACED. . . I ask what is wrong and she tells me that the lady behind us in line for SPLASH MOUNTAIN is rubbing all over her. I look back, nice looking older (grey hair) lady. So I tell sis to step in front of me. Thinking that she is over-exagerating (u know how 14 year olds are). BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! Every time we stepped forward this lady would walk until her breast was touching my back. Then she would fiddle with her "fanny pack" which was on MY FANNY!!!!! I NEVER said anything because she and her husband never spoke any engish behind me. . . . but I became so uncomfortable that I decided to stand with my hands on my hip and turned sideways. Then everytime she stepped forward my ELBOW was BETWEEN her breasts BEFORE SHE STOPPED!!!! Then I felt bad, what if she is blind? Ok. Told myself to deal with it until she started trying to get into the little "cabinet" with the jars in it. All in all we had a WONDERFUL TRIP!!!!
It did seem that there were MORE rude people than I remember the last time we went, but it was also HOTTER!!!!

Any questions?

I'll post a trip report later!!!!!

Gotta get this PIXIE dust off so I can go and face the land of the WORKING tomorrow!!!

O. CROWDS WERE GREAT!!!!!!

unfortunately, people are like that everywhere now. I take the T in boston every day, and I want to kill people almost every day.. then you get the people that will step onto a train with hardly anyone on it, and stop on the first stair, then stand there.. MOVE IN! also get the people that have huge backpacks and keep turning around almost knocking you over..... Disney is actually tame by comparison

Oh, those strollers.... ;)

I love babies, hey I even had one at one time ;) , but those strollers just get me all nuts. ;)

I can't understand for the life of me how it is these people DON'T WATCH WHERE THEY'RE GOING when they're pushing a stroller. For God's sake - that's YOUR KID in there - if you don't give a rip about my ankles, at least care whether you're going to crash your baby into a horsedrawn carriage! :earseek: :teeth:

I know just what you mean! I am a very considerate stroller pushing mommy...and people just stop for no reason. It's all you can do not to be flung over the handlebars of the stroller yourself!!!!! and I love how they leap out in front of you...and THEN decide to stop and look at the map.

By the way, when dh & I were w/out a stroller in Fantasyland (easy enough to walk around there between rides) we still had people just stop in front of us and we stopped and were rearended by the stroller behind us! LOL Was I mad at the stroller pusher??? no way! It was the inconsiderate family ahead of us that caused the collison. Just like driving a car in traffic....walking in a crowded park like Disney you have to move to the side if you're going to stop or who knows who will bump into whom!

personally i try to watch where i walk and not step in front of or stop in the middle but i'll tell you those wdw strollers are lethal. maybe they are to heavy to be able to stop easily i don't know but i sawusually fathers, sometimes with 2 fathers with 2 of the big strollers across most of the path with wives and other kiddies following behind( like truckers do on the free way to keep cars behind them) use them as battering rams time after time..espec in AK. the paths are crowded, they would get their speed up way faster than most people were walking and use them to shove thru the crowd.( i may have noticed this more cause as i have posted i have serious vascular problems in one leg and any cut or sore can put me in the hospital so i have to be carefulof gettting rammed into) that is why i saw these parents willfully ramming into people cause i was trying to avoid them( and by the looks on their faces it sure looked like they knew exactly what they were doing, not being in lala land somewhere) i was really shocked as we had to literally jump off the path to avoid them many many times cause they sure weren't stopping for anyone. i guess that really shocks me and what an excellent example they set for the little ones...

not saying the op did this, just mentioning there is a real problem with these stollers

and as far as personal space i have latin and south american friends who have a different sense of personal spce but that woman was just being weird or something was wrong with her cause they would never do that to a stranger. they might stand closer but not do that kind of stuff.

Glad to see that others feel the same way. After reading several threads about rude stroller pushers,I TRIED to be super careful. People were terrible about cutting in front of us and stopping. At first I was really apologetic when I ran them over, but by the end of the week I was just kept walking :rolleyes1 . Just goes to show that there are two sides to every story.

Sorry be be so dense, but what is a DH, a DD and a DS?

DH = dear husband
DS = dear son
DD = dear daughter

Of course, depending on the situation, the "D" may stand for something else...

I am a double stoller pushing Mommy, and on our last trip we where heading out at the end of the night after a parade at MK through HURDS of people and some dope stopped dead in her tracks and of course I hit her by accident with my 2 happy children in my stroller she turns and yells WHAT THE (Edited out. Please see guidelines)!!! right in my kids and my face. I wanted to slap her silly!! Now my children are frightened and crying & this lady is ready to fight. So I held my hand up to my eye and rubbed it with a pout on my face. Boy was she mad. (we call it the sad clown) we do this to people who get road rage instead of flipping them off because it ticks them off even more. Hee, Hee, Hee. :rotfl2: Some people are so RUDE. Why would anyone yell those words with little kids around????? Oh well I am sure my next trip there will be more ankles that I hit.

Oh my gosh. That's funny. THank you for clearing that up for me.

I've seen a lot of rage in what is the Happiest Place on Earth. I've seen people yell at their children so bad it was almost criminal. One even added "Now you will have fun or I'll smack you".

I love that. I'll have to remember that.

STUPID PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE!!

Last trip to the world, I got ran into 2 times, coming out of Tommorowland, infront of the castle. Both times, i got an "Whoops", not even a "Im sorry"!!! People need to watch what there doing when you're in a heavly occupated area.

We kind of mosey along with our stoller and I feel that those behind us get annoyed with our "mosey" speed.

If you have a stroller, you will be frowned upon by the masses... period! There is just no gettin around it.

So, in light of that, try to be polite, but dont take any crap either. Someone who stops short in front of our family is at risk of losing an achilles tendon. One of my pet peeve's is people who stop short anyway so using the stoller as a way to discourage this comes in handy (J/K :banana: )

I find that being 6' 9" & 275 lbs also seems to help those with attitude problems.

Bottom Line? Screw 'em. Have fun!! :cool1: :banana: :cool1: :banana: :cool1: :banana:

I CANT STAND THIS!!!

Even if it is the "Most Magical Place on Earth", I have to say something to these people. They act like there so important, that they can hold up "traffic" just because they need to look at their map. GO INSIDE A STORE, OR FIND A PLACE WITHOUT PEOPLE TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ah, Thank You for allowing me to vent!!

Ticking her off further by doing the "clown face" probably wasn't the most adult thing to do. Even in the event of an accident, a simple apology is in order even when it's the other persons fault.

Example, I'm pushing a kid in a stroller and some yahoo stops in front of us and gets rammed in the ankle. Yahoo turns around and screams "What the fudge??" MY response would simply be "I am so sorry! These things are so unwieldy, I just couldn't stop it when you stopped suddenly in front of us."

This way you haven't further enraged an already angry individual who will continue to take it out on every other person they meet throughtout the day.

Everybody just needs to be careful...those pushing strollers, and those just walking around unencumbered. We all have to share the walkways.

We were in the World last week and we made sure to be polite back to the stroller mommy/daddy. We went out of our way to be conscious of who was around. We encountered some rude stroller pushing people but many were as polite as the OP :)

However, we encountered more than our share of people just stopping in front of us and we'd collide right into us. We also had many people that seemed to want to climb right up our Bu**s. ARGH!

We found many more rude guests than we had in the past and we've gone at the end of August 3x's.

:wave: I'll be that "someone" you're looking for! ::yes::
I am always considerate of the ppl around me when I'm pushing the stroller. I know how it hurts to get hit in the ankles with those things! I actually used my stroller to block out someone getting on the monorail as we were leaving MK the one night. We were all standing "in line" patiently and I folded my stroller to try and conserve space. As the monorail pulled up, I see this mom and daughter going right up to the gate, trying to go ahead of us getting in. Well...I didn't hesitate to move on forward with my stroller as the doors opened. We got right on...and I didn't feel one bit guilty, since I had been waiting! My dh told me next time I do something like that I should check out how big the man is that is with them lol. :blush:

I too am a Disney pushing mommy, I usually take my own umbrella stroller but last time I went my DD was 3 months old so we took the big one, well I just could not beleive how people were still running me over, I remember we didnt take ours back that afternoon after we went back to the resort for a break, we just put the kiddo in the front baby carrier and were rel careful to steer away from The crazy driving people!!!

As For the Personal sapce I had the exact thing happen and I did not feel comfortable at all with it and very politely asked if the lady could please step of my behind she was touching it with her hands, I swear I tried to put it as nice as I could but she was literlly breathing on my neck, it was june and hot no way I could not take it, and she apologized and smiled. I have also encountered it on the buses and thats not fun when people are tired and cranky and want to get to there hotel rooms.

Sorry you encountered these problems but hope you had a good trip anyway!!!

To a certain extent, I agree. Obviously, yelling out "***" was not a good thing to do, but you've got to address that issue some how. You can't just go around dropping the "f bomb" on a dime (especially using it in an agressive way) at a family place. If it were me, I would tell the guy "sorry, but watch the language please". And the clown face thing, well, thats a little strange :rolleyes: ....
