Just back from WVL - random thoughts...

Just got back from a conference in Orlando and Pompano Beach. On a whim, I snagged two nights in a studio prior to the conference at VWL. This was my first trip to stay at my 1st home resort.

- I didn't get to VWL until after 6 PM. The oh-so-gracious CM said they'd experienced some flooding in the ground floor villas, and would I mind taking a handicapped room? Y'know, I was so glad to be staying there, I didn't care where I was. Guess what? It wasn't all that bad. I did miss the vanity space in the bathroom, but in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't a big deal. The room was impeccably clean, BTW.

- The only park I visited was Epcot, and I hit it commando-style just to see how much turf I could cover. Experienced Mission:Space three times! A word to the wise - follow the posted warnings to the letter, as in keeping your head back and not looking to either side. On my third ride, I peeked at my neighbor at one point, and felt like I was riding a blender. Whew!!

- Visited with our precious guide at BW and checked out the SSR models. How elegant! Sorta makes me want to sell our BWV points and go with Saratoga. I like the Victorian furniture, and the themed pool, spa facilities, and innovative dining make for a compelling package. Plus the OKW perk of close-in parking, it seems.

- Nothing wrong with BWV, BTW - but I'm crazy about the theming at SSR. Just for kicks, I walked round trip from the BWV elevators to the end of the corridor and back. If you're in good health, free of any physical restrictions, you won't have any trouble.

- Got as close to SSR as I could from DD. That's gonna be one big ol' honkin' resort when it's built out. I do wonder about the noise from PI - it's open water from the buildings currently under construction to PI. We'll see.

- Tried Kona at the Poly. I'd only eaten b'fast there, but dinner was a real joy. This is a real "sleeper" on the WDW dining scene. Also good was Artist Point (yeah, the salmon is the real deal), WCC for breakfast, the "Royal Feast" at Marrakesh, sirloin steak sandwich at Le Cellier, b'fast at Olivia's - good groceries all around.

Great "flying" trip, just to get in a little tide-me-over fix before a real vacation. But a "bad" day at Disney is better than most good days in the "real" world.

The satisfaction of your Disney vacation is directly proportional to the attitude you bring to the experience. For me, it was all just pure joy.
