Just back from the "not-so-Grand" Floridian.

I know its inconvient to switch hotels but I say do it! Instead of paying 400 a night for a hotel you are unhappy with (Or whatever price) Switch. We had heard rave review here about the Poly concierge and We were suppose to stay five nights, I was very unhappy There so I switched and the rest of my trip was Awesome!! That way you dont feel like you got ripped off. Not every hotel is for everyone. :)

Another note for those of you how are considering the GF for the monorail. It is awesome for the MK without a doubt but it took us 55 minutes to get to Epcot using the monorail and having to push a stroller up and down 2 monorail stations. By buss from AKL it took 25 minutes and alot less walking. IMHO if you monrail resort I would choose the Poly since you are able to "walk" to the TCC.

I'm sorry to hear that things were a mess at the GF. But 55 minutes from GF to Epcot? The most time it has ever taken us was about 20 minutes and that is from the Poly, taking the monorail all the way around the lagoon and then transferring to the Epcot monorail.

Since we are leaving for the GF in a few days, does anybody have anything nice to say, before I totally freak out and change my reservation to the Polynesian?????

I LOVE the GF. :) I only had one not-so-great experience with the main building concierge last year. I like the GF so much that I return every year. So, that should tell you something. I've found the accomodations and service to be wonderful, overall. I got back from my most recent trip in December.

Here are pix. Don't change your ressie--it is beautiful there. :)

Misti's GF pix

Have a great time! :)

We love the GF as well! Were from England, and have been to WDW twice, both in the last 18 months for a week each time! Both times we stayed at the GF and loved it, we have looked around other resorts while we were there and wouldnt change for anything! We plan on going back next christmas as well!
Yeah you can get the odd thing thats not perfect, but it usually is just an odd thing here and there! Afterall remember everyones human and do make mistakes now and again or have a bad day! Although on our stays Im gald to say weve never seen such an incident!!
One thing to remember is if you do have a problem tell them about it, dont just complain after the event on boards like this, tell them there and then and give them a chance to put it right! Afterall if they dont know about something how can they be expected to put it right!!
I am sure you'll have a great time, we did!

Hope this reassures you a bit!

Just enjoy yourself!

It reassures me quite a bit! We will be taking this trip with my mother who is from London, England. The Grand Floridian seems a perfect match for her.

Thank you for your reply!!!!!

We love the Grand Floridian and ironically it's the only WDW resort we have never had a bad experience with. We live in Central Florida and have stayed at all of them. Eventually with as many guests as they have, someone will have a bad experience at each and every resort.

The telling of it just seems to come in waves for a particular resort, this week the Grand, last month the Polynesian, etc. They all have their supporters and the dissenters too.

I think you will have a great trip.

Just a quick note about the coffee makers. If you look at DisneyWorlds website and under the booking system and resort description it lists coffee makers as available as an option. Just thought this was a bit strange considering how people have had difficulties getting them!
Maybe people should try to be a little more insistant.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why they won't just put the stupid coffee makers in the rooms. If it is revenue, just charge for all the packets after the first one (I have seen hotels do this!) I don't drink coffee so it does not bother me, but it seems to be such an issue and Disney is amoung the LAST hotel companies (and with that many rooms you qualify as a hotel company) to have this issue! You get them in the Ritz and you get them in the Motel 6. Come on Disney join the party!

I had a situation like that, sorry, can't do this, and sorry, can't do that. My wife solved the problem by looking them in the eye and in a calm voice said "sorry we can't stay here" and we turned and walked out. Of course it was easy for us because there was only the two of us.

It's a shame to have to come across something like that. especially when you pay big bucks.
